PET OWNERS PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: Please declare any pets on the “Who’s Coming” page. We have noticed an influx of owners that do not let us know and show up with dogs as we need to go over additional information. There is no additional fee but since we have livestock roaming freely around the property, to ensure their safety, long leads are highly encouraged especially if dogs do not have exceptional training and recall. Thank you!
AMENITIES/THINGS TO DO:
-There is a communal bunkhouse on property available to guests with a flushable toilet and a hot water shower. It also includes a kitchenette and we welcome you to use any of the kitchen/cookware and appliances. Our 2 Frenchies also stay in this building but they love humans and all the attention you can give them!
-There is an infrared sauna that can sit up to 3 people located next to the yurt accompanied by a cold plunge as an add-on.
-You are welcome to wander around the entire property and grab fruit daily from the trees when in season or have us get you farm fresh eggs from the coop to eat for breakfast.
-Say hello to the animals (sheep, goats, chickens, cats and dogs) or go for a walk/run around the countryside roads with walking/running/biking adventures available to you along the beautiful and paved Foothills Trail extending from Enumclaw to Puyallup.
-Communal fire pit areas with picnic table and chairs available when fire ban is not in effect. We have a moveable metal one which we can transport to your camp spot if preferred. We sell a large milkcrate full of wood for $10 if needed.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. Offering a lovely, personal campsite area surrounded by beautiful trees nestled at back of a ranch with horses (and chickens) on the outskirts of the small, charming town of Yelm. (In some of the pictures you will see horses in camp area, but are not turned out when campers are there.) There is 20 amp elec. (which can safely power a 30 amp rv unless you run too many things at once) and water/hose. There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience.
We also offer a small bunk room in the barn. Heated and cooled (fan) with a small "kitchen" area, it has a pull out futon which sleeps 2 and requires you supply your own bedding and towels.
Our Internet connection out here in the country sometimes has outages which we cannot control. IF having reliable internet access is important to you, we may not be your best choice.
1 Hour to Mt. Rainier Nat. Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia Nat. Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses, a fabulous movie theater and only 15 minutes to Red Wind Casino.
There is a railroad track next to the property, only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but it has never run after dark or early morning.
(We are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads and not highly traveled for the most part.)
**Trigger Warnings: We are near JBLM military base so you may occasionally hear military doings.
Country neighbors occasionally do target practice, so you may hear some shooting.
As a horse property, we require that everyone sign a release of liability waiver and show legal ID.

This was the loveliest cabin! It had everything I needed and so much more. It was cozy, had so many thoughtful touches, quiet, clean, and beautiful! Highly recommend and can’t wait to be back. Prettiest outhouse you’ll ever come across too. Read that in someone else’s comment and didn’t know what to think till I saw it for myself. Everything about this place is thoughtfully designed and put together. Thank you for such a wonderful experience and sharing your farm and produce with me :)

Nice place! Our kids loved the horses in the morning and absolutely beautiful location! The yurt is a little difficult to find if you arrive in the dark. You park near the stables but it is down a little road past the roofed arena and then to the left. Maybe 1/8 mile total from parking.
The horses were a little loud at night, but our toddlers slept soundly through it. Would stay again for the price and location!

We loved staying at Cedar River Cabin! Very comfortable for 2 adults and 3 kids. Everything was as expected plus more. Trail nearby, plenty of wildlife, whimsy, and beautiful scenery made us feel full of gratitude. Highly recommend!

Perfect little cabin. Quaint by cozy. Would stay again but one thing to note is there is hot water showers listed, however it only lasted for about 1 minute. Not a problem if you stay during the warm summer months, but during the chilly fall months it’s worth knowing

1 night at Alder Grove Retreat
We absolutely loved our stay here! My fiancé and I stayed after he proposed to me at the park, and it was the perfect private and beautiful place to celebrate such a special moment.
We wanted to camp and have an off-the-grid experience, and this stay gave us exactly the peaceful, secluded feel we were looking for while still being incredibly comfortable. The hosts were amazing, kind and welcoming, and made the whole experience even better.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our engagement. I highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway!

Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat
Had a really restful and restorative weekend in this little cabin! Dawson was super chill, got a couple things in need of fixing done quick, and was very respectful about privacy. The sauna was great and a really nice add-on since it was an extremely rainy weekend. The cabin smelled like fresh wood (love!) and everything was functional, but not perfect or precious, which is where the real relaxation happens for me. It was an easy, low-barrier destination for a solo trip where all I really wanted was deep decompression within four cozy walls, and it definitely delivered!

Had a great stay! After camping in Olympic NP, we stayed three nights before heading straight to Mt. Rainier SP. We ended up staying and enjoying the place more than expected, since we're usually constantly on the go exploring. It was a great experience, and we would love to come back.

This camping experience was magical! Paths to wander about with a view of Mt. Si and beautiful horses everywhere. Our yurt was clean and peaceful. The entire host family taught us about the animals on the farm and we were a 4 min walk across the street to the river!

This forest retreat was adorable! Cedar River has everything you need to have a good time from string lights to the trail nearby. Site felt secluded with plenty of us to set up tents alongside the cabin. We especially loved the bonus experience of live music and food up at the main house for the Forest Session with Kurt Lindsay. Definitely worth it.

2 nights at At The Portal
Loved the detailed tour & thoughtful touches even admits the rain. I kept being surprised by gorgeous art and whimsical decor! There was a fridge & freezer as well as a beautiful outdoor counter space and sink by the hot tub. The foliage was lush and gave privacy from neighbors and we had easy river access through the back fence. The resident cat Mochi was super friendly and there were several edible fruit trees around. The yurt was super cozy and had an easy fireplace heater and many small instruments & craft supplies. The surrounding paths were lit at night but keep an eye out for slugs. The bathroom was super easy to use and had no issues. Looooved this place & Lara!
