Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush. This is a gated property, protected with a code, which you will be sent 24 hours before your arrival.
The campsites are at the bottom of a long logging road so an SUV or AWD vehicle are preferable , especially during the wetter seasons.
When the property was logged approximately 100 years ago they scooped out gravel from the river to make their roads in the area thus creating the back eddy pool along the beach.
A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated after you stay at The Landing.
Pets are welcome, there are private outhouses at each campsite. These outhouses are protected with a code, which is sent to you 24 hours before your arrival. Campfires are allowed (when burn bans are not in place).

These camps are on a 24 acre farm with about 3,500' of frontage on the Entiat River.
The land's history has included use as pasture, orchards, and flower farm. It's currently identified as a USDA type silvopasture farm. The priority crop is growing native fir trees that will be harvested in 60+ years as telephone poles. During this time, the land will be grazed by a variety of livestock balanced to keep fields and animals healthy and productive.
The current owners purchased the farm fall of 2023 from a family estate that owned it since the 1970s. It is considered a legacy project as work progresses to Firewise the land in support of old growth native trees and maximum summer shade for salmon.
During the 2025 grazing season, the NE pasture of 5 acres along the river fed 8 Katahdin Sheep. In Spring 2026, bison, cattle, and goats will be moving into the SE pasture of 7 acres that climbs the mountain along the west border.
Eagles, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, Owls, Blue Jays, Chickadees, Beaver, Otter, Martin, American Dippers, Blue Herons, waterfowl, bats, mushrooms, deer, elk, cougar, bear, coyotes, bobcats, and a variety of other interesting birds and bugs abound.
There may also be visitors to our aluminum fabrication farm shop where custom surf/SUP racks, hippie hot tub stands, tables, gates, and other DIY kits are designed and built.

This land used to be the property of the local market owner. From there you have a pristine and unique view of the sunset falls, where The Dept of Fish and Game built a fish ladder.
You might spot some wildlife including eagles, deers and salmon during the Fall. Don't forget your camera, binoculars and camping chairs to take in the awesome views. Local places to hike include Wallace Falls, Sunset Falls, Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls trail ( literally 5 minutes away from us), or maybe you like rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking or fishing. All are available if you drive to Index; located just minutes away.
Located at the very end of a private community area (you will need the code) , this place offers a very peaceful setting, including the rushing and relaxing sound of the waterfall and the occasional whistle of a train. Approximately 55 miles east of Seattle and 25 miles west of Steven's Pass.

There is unlimited recreation in the area, including many hiking and riding trails near by.
There is plenty of space on the property to bring your boat or ATVs (or rent from The Last Resort)! The power is 110v. We also have high speed WIFI making it easy to work from the campsite. Please note that we do not have water or sewer hookups.
There are two picnic tables and a fire pit in a large open area. There is a creek running through the property and string lights leading to it.
If you would like to use the propane fire pit table, please bring your own propane tank or you can fill up an empty one that is available at the campsite to use.

You might spot some wildlife including eagles, deers and salmon during the Fall. Don't forget your camera, binoculars and camping chairs to take in the awesome views. Local places to hike include Wallace Falls, Sunset Falls, Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls trail ( literally 5 minutes away from us), or maybe you like rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking or fishing. All are available if you drive to Index; located just minutes away.
Located at the very end of a private community area (you will need the code) , this place offers a very peaceful setting, including the rushing and relaxing sound of the waterfall and the occasional whistle of a train. Approximately 55 miles east of Seattle and 25 miles west of Steven's Pass.

There is unlimited recreation in the area, including many hiking and riding trails near by.
There is plenty of space on the property to bring your boat or ATVs (or rent from The Last Resort)! The power is 110v. We also have high speed WIFI making it easy to work from the campsite. Please note that we do not have water or sewer hookups.
There are two picnic tables and a fire pit in a large open area. There is a creek running through the property and string lights leading to it.
If you would like to use the propane fire pit table, please bring your own propane tank or you can fill up an empty one that is available at the campsite to use.

It’s a great little spot, right off the highway and close to Stevens.
Kyle plowed the whole driveway and campsite for us before we showed up so we could make it in with no problems!
We were blessed by the black little kitten’s company; she hung out with us by the fire all night and even fell asleep on my lap.

The camp site on Paula’s land was exactly what I wanted! Located near the foothills of the Cascade range, you get all of Mother Nature with just the right amount of modern amenities.
While there is snow shower in the winter months, there is a toilet and potable water available. Highly recommended for a tent site if you are looking to get away from the crowds. P.S. although I didn’t stay in the cabins, they looked very cozy and modern!!

We loved staying at the vineyard! Kim was a wonderful host and everything was as stated in the posting (and I have never seen a cleaner portapottie!). We especially enjoyed the covered patio with the propane fire pit - it was a great place to hang out and look at the lights across the valley and even the snowmaking up at Mission Ridge. 10/10 and we’ll definitely be staying here again.

Such a magical little spot with the best hosts! Nothing like a crackling fire right next to a picturesque river. The sauna absolutely made the trip with a warm spot to relax in the cold of winter. You can see the river from inside too. All the amenities you need for some excellent glamping! We went up to Scenic Hot Springs and then stayed here. The perfect little getaway with my spouse.

We loved our stay at the Rookery! The site is quiet and peaceful, despite having neighbors nearby. Instructions for arrival were great. We got to campsite after sunset, in the middle of rain, after hiking Colchuck Lake. Finding site was easy, and description is accurate. Was a little concerned about possibility of traffic noise, but Mark was spot on, you won’t hear a thing! Waking up the next morning to the sound of the river was awesome. Facilities were clean, and sauna looked very inviting. We will definitely be back, this site is surrounded by places we want to explore.

Loved the site, will say be on the lookout though on wild animals as we had an overnight visit from some coyotes so keep that in mind for small animals if off leash. Only con is mainly a 1 way road once in property so when we arrived there was another vehicle trying to leave so caused some issues. Overall beautiful and clean worth the trip over!

This was our first experience with Hipcamp and it was amazing! Paula is a great host. The site was quiet which cannot be said of traditional camping options. The shower set up was right out of a spa, so relaxing during a rain shower. The location is great with a quick walk to the river and a short drive to town. We plan to check out the cabins next time.

Notable campgrounds
- Great for boating: Lake Wenatchee South Campground offers easy access to a public boat launch.
- Great for larger RVs: Lake Wenatchee North Campground has dump stations and plenty of pull-through utility sites suitable for RVs.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve campsites and one of the two picnic areas over the phone or by using the Washington State Parks online reservation system. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance. New sites go live at 7am Pacific Time.
- If you can't find a campsite for your entire stay, you can split your stay across two campsites without having to pay double reservation fees. However, this can only be done over the phone.
- Campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis from mid-October until late March. Winter camping takes place in the south day-use area and Sno-Park permits are required.
When to go
If you like warm temperatures and aren't fond of rain, the best time to visit is in July or August, when weather is at its finest. However, plenty of people come for winter camping, when the park and its surroundings are covered with white snow, ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. December is a great time to come to experience the holiday festivities in the nearby faux-Bavarian tourist town of Leavenworth.
Know before you go
- Lake Wenatchee Park Store sells basic prepared foods, espresso drinks, firewood, ice, and other supplies from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
- Outside of high season, the nearest place to pick up supplies is Leavenworth, where there are banks, a supermarket, gas stations, and lots of German-inspired restaurants.
- While there are heated restrooms and a hot shower for wintertime use, hookups are not available during the November through March offseason.
- Burn bans are common during the summer wildfire season. During such periods, campfires and some types of cooking devices are prohibited.
- You will not need a Discover Pass (annual access permit) if you are camping in the park.
