Our property is far enough from the city to feel remote and surrounded by wildlife, yet we are a 15 minute bicycle ride from the beach and the town of Langley and all the benefits that civilization has to offer. Beachcombing, wine tasting, concerts, hiking, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, swimming, and dining, just to name a few.
• Dogs are welcome, but not allowed to roam freely. Please leash while exploring and please pick up after them.

The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & ; family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). There is a “en suite kitchen in the cottage that has a small fridge, microwave, and two burner stovetop cooking unit.
The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --are all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin.
The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. our vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Even with all the little enclave of buildings, The Purple Cottage retains a private feel all to itself, with reliable Wi-Fi available at the cottage. . It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. The private deck off the side of the Purple Cottage offers views of the gardens & flora, and has a little gas barbecue. There is also a delightful hot tub on the deck, which is a wonderful feature. An outdoor kitchen on the edge of the woods allows a roomier “camp cooking” experience with Colman stove & cold running water (season permitting).
We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town!
The Purple Cottage offers a rustic retreat in a place that feels far away, but is an hour & a half from the bustling city of Seattle!

This information is based on stories from some old timers my husband had
spoken to in the past when he bought this property in 2002. The owner back in the old days sold off parcels and parcels of lands back then.

Almost 20 years ago, Shelley and Casey moved back to the beautiful Skagit Valley farm Shelley grew up on. Her family has farmed in the valley for five generations. The Navy OLF is nearby. It is recommended you check the flight schedule for dates and times the jets will be flying. Depending on the direction they happen to be flying that night, it can get quite loud. In those instances, ear protection is recommended. About a third of summer weekdays the OLF is used. The jets do not fly on weekends and holidays. Having said all of this, most campers enjoy the airshow, as it is a unique opportunity.
The camp site is approximately 6 acres located in a quiet secluded forest area near highway 525. A fire pit is provided on non-burn ban days. A flat grassy area is big enough to enjoy your recreation activity of choice. Bring your binoculars and check out all the different kinds of birds. Nearby wetlands provide lots of food for birds, bats, and dragonflies. Other wildlife you may see are deer, bunnies, owls, quail, butterflies, garter snakes, and raccoons. Lots of native flora can be identified with your plant identification app or book. The beach is about a mile away where you can hunt for sea glass and enjoy the waves or build yourself a shelter out of driftwood.
The mostly flat gravel road can accommodate any size RV.
10 minutes to Coupeville, Greenbank Farm, Ebey's Landing, Port Townsend Ferry, and Patmore Pit Dog Park.

The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & ; family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). There is a “en suite kitchen in the cottage that has a small fridge, microwave, and two burner stovetop cooking unit.
The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --are all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin.
The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. our vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Even with all the little enclave of buildings, The Purple Cottage retains a private feel all to itself, with reliable Wi-Fi available at the cottage. . It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. The private deck off the side of the Purple Cottage offers views of the gardens & flora, and has a little gas barbecue. There is also a delightful hot tub on the deck, which is a wonderful feature. An outdoor kitchen on the edge of the woods allows a roomier “camp cooking” experience with Colman stove & cold running water (season permitting).
We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town!
The Purple Cottage offers a rustic retreat in a place that feels far away, but is an hour & a half from the bustling city of Seattle!

This property is supposedly one of the first homesteads in Jordan Road.
This information is based on stories from some old timers my husband had
spoken to in the past when he bought this property in 2002. The owner back in the old days sold off parcels and parcels of lands back then.
The property is all fenced in, a place where your fur buddy can run free so you don't have to worry of the baby getting lost!
Hopefully you'll get a visit from a deer and hear the hooting of the owl. :)

Almost 20 years ago, Shelley and Casey moved back to the beautiful Skagit Valley farm Shelley grew up on. Her family has farmed in the valley for five generations. Casey had studied permaculture in the San Juan Islands and they immediately began planting edible and useful plants throughout the property. They started a small Community Supported Agriculture program growing vegetables and fruit for several families. New Van Camping Site in 2023: We have a new gravel pad van site next to an 18 acre farm field with a wonderful sunset view. We do not allow fires at the site. But you would be welcome to have a campfire in our firepit a short walk from your van site. Please note, we are not currently offering firewood. But it is available at the Shell station less than 5 minutes from our farm.
Tent Site: Pitch your tent in a private corner of our little organic farm in the beautiful Skagit Valley. You will be surrounded by gorgeous edible landscaping and a stunning view of Mount Baker. Nestled in Greenbank, Washington, Fern Gully, is an old horse farm that has been transformed into a Hip Camp. We’re delighted to welcome you back to our farm in 2025! We have installed new signage to facilitate site identification. Many of you were familiar with my sister, Morgan. She has recently relocated to Texas. My name is Erin. My boyfriend, Dave, and I reside in the farmhouse. My mother, Lauren, also makes her home here. We have discovered several exceptional camping spots on our 15-acre property. During the summer months, from July to September, our farm will be ablaze with seasonal fruit, including blackberries, cherries, apples, and salmonberries. Our expansive fields and wooded surroundings are also home to a diverse array of wildlife, such as bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, barn swallows, quail, and their offspring. Deer and occasional coyotes roam the property, but rest assured, they are apprehensive of us and pose no threat.
We derive great pleasure from spending time outdoors, so you may frequently observe us engaged in fieldwork, construction, or simply relaxing in our stargazing hammock circle. We are always available to provide you with space or invite you to join us. In downtown Mount Vernon you can walk the outdoor promenade along the Skagit River, get takeout from local restaurants and coffee shops, or visit unique downtown shops.
Please note this is a working farm with working dogs protecting our livestock 24/7 and you may hear a few barks upon your arrival.

The Navy OLF is nearby. It is recommended you check the flight schedule for dates and times the jets will be flying. Depending on the direction they happen to be flying that night, it can get quite loud. In those instances, ear protection is recommended. About a third of summer weekdays the OLF is used. The jets do not fly on weekends and holidays. Having said all of this, most campers enjoy the airshow, as it is a unique opportunity.
The camp site is approximately 6 acres located in a quiet secluded forest area near highway 525. A fire pit is provided on non-burn ban days. A flat grassy area is big enough to enjoy your recreation activity of choice. Bring your binoculars and check out all the different kinds of birds. Nearby wetlands provide lots of food for birds, bats, and dragonflies. Other wildlife you may see are deer, bunnies, owls, quail, butterflies, garter snakes, and raccoons. Lots of native flora can be identified with your plant identification app or book. The beach is about a mile away where you can hunt for sea glass and enjoy the waves or build yourself a shelter out of driftwood.
The mostly flat gravel road can accommodate any size RV.
10 minutes to Coupeville, Greenbank Farm, Ebey's Landing, Port Townsend Ferry, and Patmore Pit Dog Park.
20 minutes to Freeland
25 minutes to Oak Harbor
30 minutes to the Clinton-Mukilteo Ferry

Really beautiful views of Mr Pilchuck during the time of year I went. My friends and I pitched tents and car camped at the riverside camp site. Marvin’s land is tranquil and beautiful. I fell asleep listening to the sounds of the river every night. Marvin was extremely generous and let us use the majority of the space on his property since we were the only campers at the time. There are perfect hammocking trees along the river’s edge. The property is almost entirely fenced to the next door properties but there are a few gaps that neighborhood dogs would often come to visit through. My friends, our dogs, and I had an amazing time and loved the experience Marvin’s land had to offer.

I decided to take my partner to grace’s cabins for a little birthday surprise get away. It was an amazing time, our cabin was very cozy. Everything was perfect, and the land that the cabins sit on is just beautiful in the morning time! I couldn’t recommend a place any more than this one. Weekend Trip to Simple Roots Ranch
My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience at the potting shed. We booked for Valentine’s Day weekend and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. We were shown around when we arrived and the hospitality was above and beyond.
From a relaxing forest walk, romantic fire pit, well equipped kitchen nook, and cozy sleeping space, every detail was appreciated.
I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to escape for just a night or a longer stay.

Absolutely an amazing time away from the real world. From walking around on the trails to sitting next to the fire pit, it was great to get away with my dogs. Another lovely stay on Huckleberry Hill! Like during our last visit, Shannon was quick to respond and accommodated me with my terrible sense of direction by sending two maps, one with the water spigot location highlighted.
It didn’t rain but we woke up to a heavy frost covering all the trees. What a winter wonderland! When the sun came out in full force, the melting frost came down like droplets of sunshine. ☀️
