Seven Islands River Front Camping

3 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · Arvonia, VA
Please note that we have a new entrance. 9337 Bridgeport Road. New driveway is just beyond the old one on the right. Look for the aluminum canoe sign at the edge of the drive way. Riverfront camping at its finest . Bateau boats pass by all 3 campsites on the third Thursday ofJune. This is due to a yearly Festival held in Scottsville where Historic river boats that used to haul goods up and down the river back in the day are maned by people in period clothing re-enacting the route that was taken. Smallmouth and catfish are biting Go by a local store and buy night crawlers worms and a pack of 2/0 hooks and you will catch something . You can now buy river tubes from the host. We will pump them up and deliver to your site. Fire wood also available delivered. 30.00 for UTV LOAD. Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Pitch your tent on the beach or under the trees if you prefer some shade. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free. The real estate sign at the entrance is for the farm house only. Camp sites are not for sale and won’t be. Future bookings are no problem Safety Notice: Not accessible by boat, canoe, or kayak when the James River level is 6 feet or higher at Scottsville. At 7.5 - 8 feet, there is not much beach to play on and the river is too dangerous to navigate. You can drive in and camp, but please stay clear of all water activities, including fishing, in these dangerous conditions.

Sharp's Island

1 site · Tent1 acre · Richmond, VA
Sharp's Island is so named because the Sharp family of Richmond owned it as far back as the 1850s. The old brick foundation you see in the pictures is all that remains of a house that was built on the island in 1895 and stood for 75 years! We consider ourselves stewards of an amazing historic, ecological, geologic, and recreational asset, and we had love to have you add your own story to this island's long history! NOTE: The parking situation has changed due to construction! The parking information in the pictures is not correct (but Hipcamp won't let me delete them). Contact Andy at 804-212-6639 for parking instructions. You have to get to Sharp's Island on your own, but we can rent you a canoe or kayak (it's super easy). Learn more about this land: One-of-a-kind really only begins to describe 1-acre Sharp's Island! For starters, this is the only legal camping option in the city of Richmond. You read that correctly. This is your own private island, and it's right in the heart of downtown RVA! The Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain right here at Sharp's Island. That makes for amazing fishing, especially during the spring shad and striper runs.  Some other incredible things about camping at Sharp's Island: You can motor up to it from Ancarrow's Landing, canoe over from the trail just below Mayo Bridge, or make this the destination for your downriver raft/kayak trip; at summer river levels there are literally dozens of great swimming holes along the banks (we can sell you tubes for lounging); choose your own campsite: sandy beach or forested interior; Fire pit ready and waiting for you. And lots more!

Peace of Earth Farmstead

5 sites · Tents10 acres · Woodford, VA
Our farm is host to wild critters as well as our farm animals. There will always be someone to pet, feed or observe during your stay! Remnants of an old stone mill and 1920's vehicle are a 15-20 minute walk away from camp, right on a creek with a rock scramble and swimming hole! After a good rain, it's common to find old glass bottles, and more artifacts from days gone by. We started on this land in 2019 and have been steadily working to create a cooperative farmstead and nature school to share with our community as well as travelers and explorers. Our space is super kid friendly! Enjoy the animals, treehouse and trails :)

Spring Hill Farm

2 sites · Tents140 acres · Ruther Glen, VA
Spring Hill Farm is located in rural northwest Hanover County/Caroline County Border on the North Anna River in Virginia. We are between the Cities of Fredericksburg to our north and Richmond to our south. This site had Civil War activity throughout the region, especially along the banks of the North Anna. We are an African American family that has owned this property for 5 generations. My late grandparents instilled in me since when I was young the importance of land stewardship. My mother and I take it very seriously. We have approximately 140 acres of wooded acreage (plenty of places to pitch a tent) with a couple of trails, one leading to the North Anna River. Except for the local freight trains, and occasional afternoon target shooting from neighboring properties, it is very quiet and peaceful. Boat ramp about 5 miles away. Walking access to river on site and at county line (1 mile). Local attractions within a 20 mile radius are Sassafras Shade Winery, Kings Dominion Theme Park, Virginia State Fairgrounds, Stonewall Jackson Death Site, Dominion Raceway, North Anna Battlefield, Scotchtown (former home of Patrick Henry), Ashland Berry Farm, and Randolph Macon College. Nearest store for groceries and gas is about 5 minutes away in Chilesburg. 10 miles to fast food and pharmacy. If you are so inclined, you could also have the opportunity to volunteer on an organic farm in the spring and summer months. #1 Bicycle Highway (Verdon Rd./State Rt. 684) less than a mile away. Learn more about this land: Spring Hill Farm is located in rural northwest Hanover County/Caroline County Border on the North Anna River in Virginia. The family operates a seasonal organic produce farm during the summer months and make Christmas wreaths during the holiday season. There are approximately 140 acres of wooded acreage (plenty of places to pitch a tent) with a couple of trails, one leading to the North Anna River. However, there is no lighting in the camping areas at all. For your safety and enjoyment, please plan to arrive at least one hour prior to dark, so there is ample time to pitch your tent and know your surroundings prior to the sun setting. Except for the local freight trains, it is very quiet and peaceful. Private boat put in about 5 miles away. Walking access to river on site and at county line (1 mile). Reservation Camping on the Water!

2 sites · Tents10 acres · King William, VA
Learn more about this land: Nestle on the Pamunkey Indian Reservation also known for Spiritual Healing that overlooks the Pamunkey River. The Pamunkey people have been here for over 10,000 years making this area one of the oldest reservations in the country. We have a small platform sitting right on the water for privacy and beautiful views of the river. You may see Bald Eagles, Grey Herons, Ducks, Geese, River Otters, and so much more. During low tide, the water is pulled back into the main part of the river and this is where you will see the wildlife during this time. There are up to 8 Bald Eagles here at a time and during the Spring to Fall, you will see Osprey hunting for food right in front of you and usually getting chased by the Eagles. What an awesome site to be able to camp and be a part of so many creatures all in their natural habitat. We live right up the hill.  Depending on where your tent is located, you may or may not see our home.  Usually you cannot but want you to be aware.  When you are camping, we respect your space and privacy to the fullest. During the full moon, the water on the campsite will rise and you will need to camp closer to the land.  Also, when the tied is out, you will not be able to launch the canoe or kayak. There is a short path to walk and it is a very short incline.   During Spring through the fall, the museum is opened for visitors at 5.00 each visitor.  We also have a gift shop where local artist showcase their items and also they are for sale. Debit, Cash and Credit Cards are accepted.  Check out the Pamunkey Indian Reservation website and always call to make sure their hours haven't changed. Attention Guests: Please note that ticks will be prevalent in wooded areas throughout the state due to the unseasonably warm winter we had last year. According to VCU Dr. Marconi, Virginia is experiencing a “quite extreme” tick season. As the skoolie is located in a wooded area, we are diligent in our efforts to manage them, but we advise all guests to take precautions. It is HIGHLY recommended to treat your dogs for ticks before your stay, and to perform thorough tick checks on yourselves and your pets during your stay with us and whenever you are in the woods. We want all guests to understand the risks before booking and to take necessary measures to protect themselves. *Beds* Comfortable queen-sized bed in the back. The couch folds down into a bed slightly smaller than a full size mattress. We have bedding included for both beds. The bus will sleep 3 comfortably, 4 if you really like each other! *Full Kitchen* Gas stove top inside the bus (back burner knob removed for fire safety). Pots, pans, plates, bowls, utensils, storage containers, and coffee maker/french press are all included. Pantry space to store your food. RV fridge and freezer. Small kitchen sink with hot water and a 7 gallon water tank underneath the sink that you will need to empty if full. *Bus Bathroom* There is a Nature’s Head composting toilet, with instructions included, and please only use the bus bathroom for urinating only. *Main House Full Bathroom* You have access to a full bathroom, shower, and laundry in a side door of the main house. If you prefer convenience over adventure and are not comfortable with a short walk (approximately 150 feet) to use the bathroom facilities, this may not be the ideal booking for you. The owners of the house also use this space for laundry, but it is closed off from the rest of the house to ensure privacy. *Heating/Cooling* Portable A/C unit on bus. A small space heater has been provided that works well to keep the bus warm in winter. Also has a wood burning stove, with firestarters and wood for the stove included. In the winter, it could still be a bit cold on the bus so we encourage you to bring extra blankets and clothing depending on the weather. Maxxair Fan and personal fans for your use are provided. *Outdoors* Includes a deck with a small seating area, picnic table to enjoy your meals, and a portable propane grill for your use. Enjoy a campfire in the private fire ring. There is plenty of firewood to collect in the woods. Has 2 USB outlets and a standard wall outlet. Wifi is available with high downloading speeds. *Pets* All pets are welcome! Please keep in mind that there are two dogs on the property contained to the yard by an electric invisible fence. The dogs are not able to access the campsite. We ask that you keep your pup on a leash unless it is well trained and can stay in the campsite area and away from our pets. *Extra Guests* We allow a maximum of 4 guests to stay inside the bus. For a fee, you can have extra guests stay with you in a tent outside. Please let us know before booking if you will be bringing extra guests. ——— Guest access You will need to drive on grass and through the backyard to access the school bus. There is parking right next to the campsite. We will be respectful of your space and privacy, but with that being said we like to grill out and hang out on the back deck pretty often so feel free to come over and chat. ——— Other things to note The interior height of the bus is only 6 feet so please note that it could be a bit cramped for taller individuals. We will be on the property in case you have questions.

Billyville is not just a state of mind, it is a place to camp, play, and relax. Located in rustic Bells Crossroads, VA three miles from I-64, Billyville is a work in progress featuring 2 tent and 4 RV sites with electric hookup and lots of space. Within one hour’s ride is a wealth of things to do, experience and see; within reach are the Shenandoah mountains, the University of Virginia and Charlottesville and Lake Anna . There is something for everyone from children to seniors, from outdoor adventurers, to history buffs, arts and entertainment seekers, bargain shoppers and local gourmet food and drink lovers. At days end you can go to concerts or “clubbing” in town or return to Billyville and enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of a campfire under a starlit sky. Check-Ins and Arrival Instructions: Check-ins on weekdays are dependent on my work schedule. If this is your first time at Billyville, I need to be on property to guide you into your site. Please reach out before your stay so we can coordinate. If I am off on that day, check-in is after 1pm. If I am working, it will be after 5pm and occasionally after 7. I am currently testing out some procedures to allow self check-in. We'll see how that pans out. Anyway, to get to Billyville: Turn onto Bells Lane. (Dirt Road). You'll see a white fence on your left down the lane about .2 miles. Just after the fence, you'll see a red sign at the beginning of a rope fence. Turn off Bells Lane just after the sign and follow the fence, keeping it on you left.
