My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. A very convenient Hipcamp, only a couple of miles off of I-81 in Buckanan. Site was very roomy for our 5x10 camper. The owner Ashlee was very accommodating and responsive to communications. A very pleasant experience staying at the Wild River Mushroom Farm. Would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely stay at Swedish Lilac Campground. It was so peaceful and quiet. We camped right next to the river - the kids loved playing in it and we loved the peaceful sound of the flowing water. The shower and bathrooms were nice and clean! And the owners were very friendly and gave us great recommendations of things to do! We hope to go back again!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Wild River Farm Camp Site and can't recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, Ashlee made us feel right at home — she was fantastic, attentive, and truly made the experience special. The campsite itself was beautiful and well-kept, but the real highlight was the farm. My kids were completely charmed by the animals — chickens, pigs, adorable baby goats, and more. It's the kind of up-close farm experience that's hard to find and even harder to forget. To top it all off, the sunsets from the property were absolutely breathtaking. And the location couldn't be more convenient — just 10 minutes from the Natural Bridge, making it the perfect base camp for exploring the area. If you're looking for a peaceful, unique, and memorable camping experience with a little farm magic thrown in, look no further. We'll definitely be back!

Space had everything we needed and was easy for us to get into. Chris was very friendly, we had a nice chat. Loved sitting by the fire at night and count stars. Even had a visit with the chickens!

Spent three nights here at spot 11. Loved it. Very spacious spot with a large grass field beside it that leads to a picnic and ping pong table covered area. There's a road on one side of the campground but that didn't bother us too much. Beyond the creek on the other side are some railroad tracks that, again, didn't really bother us. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot. They offer free WiFi that works throughout the campground and free firewood, never seen that before. Owners were friendly and attentive. We will be back!

A great place and host. Added bonuses were the nearby gas station , a nice view of sharp top mountain, close to the hiking trails for Peaks of Otters and close to Lynchburg. The bathroom has shower. washer and dryer. He has a good WI-FI connection. The landscaping is also nicely laid out. The cats and chickens are super friendly.

2 nights at Wild River Farm

Ashlee's farm was quaint and beautiful. We woke up to beautiful rolling hills with cattle in the far background . We had three little boys who loved exploring her grounds. There is a beautiful trail and animals to see. At night the stars are so perfect it looks fake. It's quiet and peaceful . Ashlee brought us fresh eggs scones and some wood for a camp fire which was such a special touch our stay. Would come back here in a heart beat.

Our 4 nights at Swedish Lilac was lovely. Fritz was so nice and the perfect host. The community of other campers was sweet and we made some friends that we really enjoyed talking with. The bathrooms were clean and the campground was quiet. It was perfect place for us to spend a few days this fall.

Spacious and level campsite (#11), accommodating and friendly hosts, close to VMI/Lexington, WiFi, and beautiful night sky. The train came by a few times in the later evening, but we didn’t hear it all after turning in. The river was a fun extra we enjoyed walking down to.

Valerie and Fritz were the most accomadating hosts! They were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The campground sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. Bathrooms were clean, electric and water sites fuctioned as needed. The wifi in spot RV-9 was super fast and very reliable. The sites weren't super private but there was plenty of space between sites. Lastly, our dogs loved the fenced in area purpose built for them!

It was a small campground., which we like. The owners were very friendly. It is beside a creek. The railroad tracks are very close, but not a lot of trains. We would go back to it.
