The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside hot shower as well. I loved it! The vibe was just what the doctor ordered. The heater took the chill off the bus quickly and once it had my twinkle lights up, I felt right at home. I liked how the place felt tucked away but was easily accessible to the outside world. Loved all the paintings and quotes in the inside of the bus. Recommend bringing enough lighting for what you want your experience to be inside the bus, they provide a nice automated light when you open the bus door to get to the Porto potty, the rest is up to you! The bed is solid and everything was clean and ready for a wonderful night off the grid! Enjoy!

Hippie Hollow is a beautiful camping spot for anyone looking for a chill place to camp without being isolated in the middle of the wilderness. Sly is a fantastic and gracious host with a real passion for the place who made sure we had everything we needed and then some during our stay. He also shared food and was really cool, great company, too. The campsites are set up around a very nice little outdoor kitchen/ bar area, a very nice portable bathroom including heat, running water, and a shower, and a big center fire pit in the middle in front of a nice little stage on the edge of the water. We stayed in the Greendale Trailer plot, which was also right on the water, right near where the ducks like to hang out. The stars are quite visible at night from there, and you can hear the river from inside the trailer. If you love the outdoors and backcountry living but aren't particularly keen on traditional camping, don't want to have to bring all your own amenities, this place is perfect. A haven for true hippies at heart!

Absolutely loved staying here! Will definitely return one day. The site was right on the river and we were able to jump on in with our floats and fish off the bank. John was super helpful during our entire stay. Highly recommend the tent that John provides— it had a full sized memory foam mattress, couch and a ton of space to store all of our camping gear. It was my 9 year old daughter’s first time camping and she didn’t want to leave!

We loved staying in the Rivernest cabin in the treetops! From the deck we had a view of both the Yadkin River below and Pilot Mountain across the valley—truly breathtaking. The bed and soft seating were comfortable, and the kitchenette was well equipped for our long weekend of glamping. We added on a dozen eggs fresh from the onsite henhouse, and they were delicious! We enjoyed walking the many trails and hanging out at the river access on site. And we enjoyed meeting Christine who is a kind and friendly host. We look forward to returning—maybe for blackberry picking season!

Christine's home is absolutely amazing. The views are breathtaking and the hikes down to the water were a delight! It had everything we needed and she even stopped over the first night to make sure we settled in. The directions were spot on, definitely follow them. I'm leaving a 5 star because thats what is deserved, but I the little devil on my left shoulder says to leave 1 so it doesnt get too popular!
The creek and surrounding areas are serene. Lots of deer around, especially in the morning! Our dogs loved playing in the water and fetching sticks. It was great to let them roam! We enjoyed cooking and spending time in the yurt.
