4 nights at Mystic Meadow Farm Glamping.

This place is so beautiful! The scavenger hunt was adorable and so much fun. And the little pool in the creek was so cold and relaxing on a hot summer day! Waking up every morning and opening the side of the cabin and listening to the sounds of nature was so calm and peaceful. It was the perfect first vacation with my fiance and we will definitely be coming back! Thank you Wendy for such a magical experience!

Weekend Trip to 100 Acre Wood

100 Acre Wood is a beautiful site with an absolutely lovely host. David was kind enough to meet us at the house to show us the way to the campsite and even took us on a tour of the property, including the woodworking shop! The views of the mountains and the sunset from our tent was something that will bring me back over and over again. The property is well maintained, and there was plenty of firewood both provided and easy to find around the site itself. David sold me on the views of the Up Top campsite during the fall; I'm excited to come back around that time and see for myself!

100 Acre Wood is one of my new favorites! David is an awesome host! Clear communication and quick responses. His property is lovingly cared for and offers some amazing views. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning!

My husband and I had an amazing time staying on Dave’s property. The property is absolutely stunning and Dave is nice enough to give you a tour if you’d like. We booked the up on top site but quickly learned it was going to be too hot without any tree coverage, and Dave was more than willing to allow us to move to the Bruington meadow which provided ample shade and it was much more comfortable! If you have the time take a drive to cascade falls (Dave’s suggestion) for one of the most breathtaking waterfalls and swimming holes. All in all it was an unforgettable holiday weekend and will absolutely be returning day.

4 nights at Tina's Dream

Our stay at Tina’s place could not have been better. Tina was so responsive and helpful. She answered every question and also had firewood and a fire pit ready. Her place was easy to access and was so close to Carvin’s Cove and downtown Roanoke. We throughly enjoyed the peaceful beauty of her campsite. We also took Tina’s advice to use the dump station at Camping World which was only a few miles away. We would give Tina’s place 5 stars, and we definitely plan to return soon.

Weekend Trip to Crooked Mountain

We had a great time at site 2! Hosts are so friendly. Kids loved playing in the creek. The showers have hot water and the porta potty is clean. The sites are semi-private and the hiking trail runs right behind the site. I do wish that creek access was a little easier with some steps. I was worried the kids would slip on the rocks. Also the site is dirt packed so it can get a little dusty. Overall a wonderful place and would definitely return!

1 night at Savage Acres on Craig Creek

We had a blast. My kids loved being able to swim in the creek and then warm up by the campfire just a few feet away. We are looking forward to our next stay.

2 nights at FoxDen by Heartwood Farm and Cabins

Really nice place. The cabin is small but worked fine for 3 guys sleeping with a little rearrangement. Good location for a lot of stuff to do. We ended up tubing on the New River and that was a great time.

1 night at 100 Acre Wood

It’s obvious the owner loves his land…my wife couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the trails are there and how well kept they all are! Delightful stay!

4 nights at Jack's Run, Glade Hill, VA

What a wonderful place! It’s such a cool historical property, and the view is beautiful. The hike through the woods is very fun, as is the pool and all of the provided activities like tennis, fire pit, etc. The cabin has everything you need. We were there during some of the hottest days of summer, and the AC units and fans kept it plenty cool enough in the main living spaces and the main bedroom. If you had a larger group and needed to use the second bedroom, that might be too warm during the summer (but the living room could be used as a makeshift second bedroom too, and it has an AC unit). Shirley was very helpful and responsive and clearly takes great care of the property.

Weekend Trip to Riverside Campground at Seneca

We recently reserved Cohosh Cove for a weekend decompression. We were the only people we saw the whole time. It was peaceful and cozy. The creek/river was a comforting burble, and the wildlife was varied and interesting. We did notice that off of the side of the trails are some patches of poison ivy, and there some old barbed wire that could be a problem for someone not aware of it, but all of this is off-trail. The campsite consists of three locations - two quite close together and Cohosh Cove which is remote enough to be comfortably private. The site itself has a flat, sandy clearing about 15'x20', with room for a fairly large tent, chairs, hammock, etc. There is a picnic table and a fire ring at each of the 3 sites. We visited in the summer, and our days were hot, still and humid (my wife insists that I point out that I am a man - she was completely comfortable). A hand fan would have been nice. The outhouse isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but find me one that is. There are train tracks in the distance (we got about 3 per day, which isn't too excessive). The creek is accessible with a short walk out to the drive and around (I don't recommend the direct route), and it is beautiful. The water is cool - not too swift or deep, with a rocky bed, (bring your Crocs). My wife went from one little wonder to the next, and it really refilled her batteries - we had a great time. I'd recommend Cohosh Cove if you're just looking to chill and put your feet in some water. Thanks, David.

nice little place to camp, as long as you prepare for a grass field, you wont regret anything about this place. we only wish we could have stayed longer, bring a baithing suit and some sort of kayak. and make time to enjoy the camp.

Our camping experience at Crooked Mountain was incredible. The Floyd area is really beautiful. The camp sites are well cared for and restrooms and showers are clean and well stocked. Camp site #6 had plenty of space for tents and parking. Easy access to the creek meant we could put our chairs in the creek and cool off. Each site had privacy and shade. The country store was an amazing benefit with ice, firewood and anything you might forget for camping. The owners were helpful and kind and so generous to share this space with us. The area was dog friendly so that made our stay even more special. I will definitely return to Crooked Mountain Campground as soon as possible.

We loved camping there, it’s quite nice and peaceful there. Their store is very convenient when you need basic camping supplies or even ice cold drinks! The staff is friendly and ever quick to respond after hours. 10/10 recommend to someone!

We had a great time at David’s land. The grounds were amazing and the creek was such a blast! We especially enjoyed his dogs coming down and hanging out with us. We felt so protected.

Peaceful flowing river, country view, flat grassy area - great spot for off road camping. Far enough away from the rd for privacy. Trees allowed sun and shade. There were a few small groups enjoying the river across from us each day and the road noise was sporadic. None were annoying. Most of the sounds were the flowing river and birds singing. Best part of the morning is watching the cows make their way to the pasture on the hill!

We had a great time at crooked mountain! Beautiful space. A really nice little hiking trail, beautiful flower field, and a beautiful little creek. The bathrooms, although portapottys, were very clean, and super close to our site (site 3). The site was nice and private. Also only about a 10 minute drive into Floyd. The host running the store was super nice and friendly. We made great memories here, and we will definitely be back!

My gf and I really enjoyed our stay at campsite 5. My first time camping creekside and it was lovely. Service was great and the bathrooms, showers, and camp store are very convenient. We'll definitely stay again.

The beautiful, clear creek features shimmering riffles and deeper swimming or wading holes. When the water level permits, you can float the entire 1/2 mile by kayak. The area is home to a wide range of native Virginia species. Down by the water, you might see deer, bald eagles, a great blue heron, northern pintails, and wild turkey. Part of the wooded acreage is set aside as a wildlife preserve. Our mission is to be good stewards of the environment for the benefit of nature, our farm animals, our family, and YOU! In keeping with that goal, we do not treat our pastures with any pesticides, herbicides, or manufactured fertilizers. Whether you prefer car camping or want to leave your wheels behind, we have the perfect place for you to unwind and kindle your sense of wonder at the marvels of nature. We have great spots for individual campers, all the way up to groups of 25. Fresh well water is available by the farm house, and you're only 25 minutes from town for supplies. We do keep a few provisions on hand, such as camper-friendly foods, hygiene needs, batteries, flashlights etc. Depending on availability we might have farm fresh eggs from our own chickens. And by prior arrangement we may be able to provide home-cooked meals. Covered fire pits can be used when conditions allow. Firewood should be gathered from the property or purchased at the farmhouse. The area has much to offer: the Appalachian Trail crosses nearby, the New River is 30 minutes away, you can be in Blacksburg or Mountain Lake in 40 minutes, and summer blueberry picking is just the next valley over. Riverside Campground at Seneca

Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it. DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking. Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here. Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away. This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet. About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. Campers will have access to a private composting toilet, fire pit, and picnic table. We offer two different campsites on the property, so note that you may see or hear other campers on the grounds during your stay. 100 Acre Wood

101 Acres of forested land in the Draper, Virginia area with scattered clearings that are connected by over 2 miles of cleared roads and paths throughout the property, which are perfect for hiking, running, cycling, and horseback riding. The property includes a very small creek, several ravines, ridge lines and trails to explore. We frequently encounter deer, rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional turkey, black bear, coyotes and Bigfoot. The thing people seem to enjoy most is the privacy and and quiet that allows you to connect with nature. Each of the 3 sites is hundreds of yards away from each other. Note: there is no bathroom on the premises, however you can book a toilet tent as an extra. 4 Wheel Drive or All wheel drive are helpful during the winter months if there is snow/ice. Things to watch out for are deer ticks and poison ivy. Campers are expected to leave the site neat and take all their trash with them. We are located about 5 minutes from I-81 or 15 minutes from I-77 making it an easy place to stop when passing through on your way to other adventures. If you are coming on I-81, use exit 89-A. Don't let Google maps take you to Frog Level Ct near the town of Pulaski (LOL). Nearby attractions include Appalachian Gem and Gold Mine on Route 100 (5 min), New River Trail State Park (10 min), Claytor Lake State Park (20 min) and the Town of Draper has a couple small town shops to explore including The Draper Mercantile and Trading Company and the newly opened Conery where you can get wonderful ice cream cones and more. Also, check out the Draper Mountain overlook on Rt 11, just 10 minutes from our HipCamp. We love hosting campers and are happy to help make accommodations to help you have an enjoyable stay. We have 3 sites but only allow 2 to be in use at a time on the property. This insures that all guests continue to feel complete privacy from others and allows us to always have an alternate site available if campers want to change. Available "Extras" include portable toilet setup, Woodshop class making a cutting board, big foot siting's as well as various camping gear items and games. If there are other extra's you would like to see or something you forgot to bring please let us know and we will see what we can do.
