These primitive campsites are on the bank of The Little River in gorgeous Floyd County Virginia. There are two sites on the east bank of the river and one site on the west bank. One site has electric hookup and fresh water available from the well. Bring your kayak, canoe or tube to spend the day floating. The night sky is brilliant by the river because there is no ambient light to reduce visibility. The quaint Town of Floyd is just 7 miles away. The Floyd Fest site is 20 miles away. Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill….
So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each.
Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail).
Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash.
Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week.
Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group.

In a remote valley just north of Roanoke VA, along the banks of Craig's Creek, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. My girlfriend and I absolutely loved our stay at Creekside Woods. The location right by the creek was incredible! Literally some of the clearest, most majestic water I’ve ever seen. It made the whole campsite feel peaceful and almost magical.
We were also just minutes away from multiple entry points to the Appalachian Trail and close to iconic hikes like Dragon’s Tooth and McAfee Knob, which made the trip even better (and made me realize how out of shape I was :D). The campsite itself felt surprisingly secluded, even with the leaves down, giving us plenty of privacy and quiet time to recharge.
The hosts were super accommodating and responsive, making everything from check-in to checkout seamless. Overall, we had an amazing experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing nature getaway.

Amazing location! Beautiful, peaceful and private. Perfect sound of the water flowing over the rocks easily helped us fall asleep. We stayed at site #3 by the River. I would recommend backing down the lane. There’s no turnaround area for full size trucks. Ours is Chevrolet 2500 HD. There’s a slight hill to walk down to camp, no problem for us (maybe 15-20 ft),. Tacoma or 4Runner wouldn’t have a problem in 4WD going down the hill to level site. Our host was very accommodating. We will definitely come back!

Great site! Beautiful, big, and private. The picnic table was huge and the fire pit was big and really nice. The best part was the TONS of complementary firewood. One of their dogs hung out with us and our dogs for a few hours before it got dark. There are also 2 barn kittens that hung out with us all night lol.

Ned was a great host. The camp site was private and spacious. We added on some excellent fresh produce and maple syrup from his farm. The site is only a few minutes away from great hikes.

This is a special place. The small campground is nestled along a creek just outside of Floyd. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each site. However, there is a large communal firepit, an outdoor kitchen, and stage in the center of the campground that invites people to come together. It was chilly the night we arrived and one of the guys built an awesome bonfire in the communal firepit. Instead of everyone being at their own campsites, the bonfire brought people together while we listened to music on the stage. The campground is also dog friendly, with well-trained dogs roaming off leash in little packs running about. There was a nice social atmosphere. Everyone at the campground was chill. There's also a small shower house with flush toilet and hot water. Jeremy's spot is real nice.

I enjoyed camping in this sport. Easy one of my favorite ones; great atmosphere, well take care off and a lot to offer. Great time to disconnect as well.
