Weekend Trip to Diamond Heritage Nature Sites

The tent sites are beautiful, and very private. Ryant keeps the property in great condition. The abundance of cut up cedar wood was a bonus. If I'm back in this area, I'll stay again.

Loved this campsite, such a pretty view of the lake and great tree cover making the site nice and shady. Really easy to communicate with the owner Charles, even though I was a same day reservation. I'll definitely be back! Kind of rocky entrance to get to the site, just be mindful if you're in a sedan without much clearance.

This is a great spot centrally located in the northern half of Virginia. If you like to travel blue highways vice the interstates give Diamond Heritage a try. Ryant, the host, is warm and welcoming. He’s happy to share the fascinating history of the property. There are several secluded sites for tenters and one that fit my Transit van like a glove. Great for an overnight.

How was your camping trip - PERFECT!!! If you love peace and quiet when camping, if you want privacy, if you love to fish, if you like walking beautiful easy trails, if you want a beautiful campground that is clean, super clean, an outdoor bathroom is beautiful, and ..... if you want campground owners/hosts who are just wonderful folks ...... then I can tell you that you want to go to Peaceful Meadows Farm and Camping. Michelle and Wendell are totally great - they want you to have a great time and they will do what is needed for that to happen. My husband and I have camped for over 40 years and have never found a campground that we loved better than Peaceful Meadows. Totally recommend it with highest ratings.

This was an awesome place to camp and get some time on the kayaks. We were just an hour from the home which made it even better for a quick weekend away. Charles was a great host. We were greeted promptly and taken to our site. He brought the firewood to us. The site was huge so we had plenty of room to spread out and let our dog run free. The kayaks were a definite plus!

Gail’s property was beautiful. The meadow site was quiet and peaceful. There was a fire pit, and picnic table, making it easy for us to enjoy camp! We loved walking the property and seeing the horses as well! We would definitely camp here again

This is such an amazing place pitch your tents and relax! We drove by Will as we were coming in and he led us to two different sites that we could choose from- we chose the top of the hill that had an epic sunset view and was completely secluded. He brought us a fire ring and showed us a free pile of firewood. He was so laid-back and generous, we had a great time and would love to stay here again if we were ever needing a place to stay for the night.

Mixed feelings. Would not recommend to female solo campers. I did not feel safe. Spotty cell service on the property even though the main road was close. Communication was timely, until i got to property, then silence. No clearly marked camping spaces. In fact no evidence of recent activity/ fire pits. I slept in my car with my dog. (She alerted at 3am) I left my tent up and closed it completely, only to see in the am a new set of tire tracks and my outer tent zipper unzipped. The whole vibe was just....off.

WOW! Beautiful property, friendly host and lots of amenities to enjoy. We will definitely be back. Our 15-month golden retriever really enjoyed running around, meeting horse friends and swimming in the lake. Note for dog owners—wooded areas and ticks galore. If you let your dogs roam, a tick collar is highly recommended.

This was my 4th time staying at the Hawthorne Hollar cabin if that says anything. It's pretty much my go to campsite for a weekend getaway these days. Moon and Julie are awesome hosts. If you're looking for more info I left reviews for each of my other trips that go into a lot more detail about what makes this such a great place to stay.

We had such a wonderful stay! The farm was peaceful and beautiful, and we truly loved spending time around all the animals. The baby goats were absolutely adorable, and it was such a treat to see the horses and other animals up close. It made for such a unique and memorable experience. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us—we hope to come back again!

Weekend Trip to The Wilderness At Belmead

Nice quiet camp site. We happened to have the whole place to ourselves. As “dark sky” as you’ll get this close to Richmond and wide open so the view of the stars was perfect. Jessica was a responsive host and answered our questions quickly. The kids had a great time exploring the property. Good alternative to the State Parks near-by.

This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Camp Cove Creek

Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my Mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip is the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several special antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film. Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress! Enter at the site we still call the Flea Market (1980's use of the hilltop). This is the top of our 12-acr camping playground. 4wd vehicles as well as human and electric powered toys are welcomed to drive and camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. The camp is bordered by Irish Road to the south and creek bottoms to the west and north. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

Located in Victoria Virginia, the farm is an hour to Richmond, 45 minutes to Farmville, and 45 minutes from John Kerr reservoir (on the boarder of NC). We are pet friendly, and the property is completely fenced. Enjoy free unlicensed fishing on property in our pond, stocked with catfish and bluegills, or let the pups swim away the summer heat. Enjoy a walk on the nearby Tobacco Trail, fish at one of the many nearby rivers and lakes. Roast marshmallows over a fire and stargaze or catch fireflies all night. All sites have access to a portable compost toilet, and we can provide water for the sun showers. We have tent sites, and an RV site, 420friendly but we do not partake. PLEASE NOTE: No Check In After 9PM! The camp sites are only available with direction of host ( new closer parking area and camp area access gate for 2025!!) Exceptions can be made in an emergency stay. THINGS TO DO IN TOWN: Bike or hike the Tobacco Trail and see the railroad park. Local farmers market and livestock sales- down town. The lake at the VFW- good fishing and lovely strolling paths See the falls or fish and hike at Nottaway Falls. NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Swim, relax and enjoy the waterfall at Whittle’s Mill- 35 min drive. John Karr Dam and Reservoir- great sandy swimming beaches. Fishing, hiking and picnic areas. Best place ever! 45 minutes south. . Amenities/ Activities: friendly sheep, goats and horses to pet and feed metal detectors to borrow free fishing and poles provided free fire wood- collect your own or from cut piles laundry for a fee in house pots and pans to cook grill for site upon request free fresh eggs Horse rides available for donation which helps offset feed or veterinary needs. This experience may not be available due to weather or other factors, be sure to talk to us prior to your visit to determine availability and requirements. Your off leash pets must be ok with chickens. We do have an overly excited friendly blue Heeler that roams our farm.

At days end you can go to concerts or “clubbing” in town or return to Billyville and enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of a campfire under a starlit sky. Check-Ins and Arrival Instructions: Check-ins on weekdays are dependent on my work schedule. If this is your first time at Billyville, I need to be on property to guide you into your site. Please reach out before your stay so we can coordinate. If I am off on that day, check-in is after 1pm. If I am working, it will be after 5pm and occasionally after 7. I am currently testing out some procedures to allow self check-in. We'll see how that pans out. Anyway, to get to Billyville: Turn onto Bells Lane. (Dirt Road). You'll see a white fence on your left down the lane about .2 miles. Just after the fence, you'll see a red sign at the beginning of a rope fence. Turn off Bells Lane just after the sign and follow the fence, keeping it on you left.
