The nearest towns are Charlottesville, Scottsville, and Palmyra.  Within 5 miles, enjoy amazing canoeing, hiking, fishing, and disc golf.  Hosts will greet campers and are generally around to address any issues or questions, but the site is totally private, so you’ll enjoy plenty of seclusion during your visit.  About the listing The tiny house has three twin sized beds; one on the main level and the other two lofted above the main floor on opposite sides and accessed by a ladder. There is also ample space for setting up a tent outside of the tiny house and some campers have even managed to pull a small 8x10 trailer into the campsite.  Take advantage of access to a private fire pit during your stay. There is also a stove in the cabin to keep you warm. The outhouse features a pit toilet.  Additional details to note Early check-in or late checkout can be managed on a case by case note, depending on whether or not the campsite has other reservations. Pets are allowed. With 18 acres to choose from you may find yourself sleeping along the lazy Fifteenmile Creek, atop a hill under Virginia stars, or even set up with pastoral views of hens and Great Pyrenees dogs. The roadfront side of our property offers level terrain for pull-behind trailers, while vehicles (preferably 4WD) and tent campers can travel all the way back to the creek. Feeling froggy? Ford the stream and camp in the large field on the other side. Be sure to mind the animals and fields, as this is a working farm. One mile down the road from the farm is the Virginia Creeper Trail, renowned for biking, but as a multi-use trail, you can also enjoy walking, running, horseback riding, fishing, cross country skiing, and geocaching. South Holston Lake is only minutes away by vehicle, with two public access boating ramps 10 to 20 minutes away. For a drink by the water, head to Abingdon Vineyards- only 10 minutes away. Access to the Appalachian Trail is only 20 minutes away in Damascus. We became caretakers of this lovely property in June of 2021, moving from our existing farm, 45 minutes away. When we got it, it was a blank slate of a hayfield, and we have spent the summer laying infrastructure so that we may grow our cut-flower, honey, and vegetable business.

The tiny home was so well equipped and cozy. Clinton was communicative and kind, and even cranked up the generator when we arrived later than intended after a hike. The directions were clear and helpful upon arrival and we had a really special time. We look forward to coming back here soon and enjoying the walks, home, bon fires, chilly morning arc and beautiful foliage.

Weekend Trip to Twin Springs Tiny House
Really enjoyed our weekend here! The campsite was spacious, private, and quiet, so you feel secluded even though you’re only about a 10-min drive to amenities, including a good grocery option. The tiny cabin is extremely clean/well cared for. We didn’t end up using it much as we set up tents to sleep in, but it was great for storing food and having a back-up bed option. Would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed being unplugged from tech and fully immersed in nature. The yurt is nestled in the woods away from the main building and other tent sites so there's plenty of privacy and quiet. There's an opening in the trees above where a myriad of stars can be admired from the deck. I recommend opening the windows of the yurt to let in the sunlight and allow air to flow through the space. It was convenient to use the grill for cooking and the dinnerware for our meals. There is only one pot to cook in so if you need additional cookware, I would recommend bringing what you need as well as a sharp knife, peeler and can opener.

Weekend Trip to Stormbrew Farm
The site was easy to get to, yet quiet and private, down the hill from the rest of the farm. We sat on the platform and watched the sun set, then fireflies, and then a clear starry sky. Horses peeked over the fence in the morning. And with all this, a morning run to get some coffee took just 15 minutes. We'll happily come back.

Weekend Trip to Arcadia Sanctuary
We had a wonderful very short stay at the Arcadia Sanctuary with Fran. The yurt was very clean and the bedding, too. There is plenty of bedding, towels, etc. We stayed in June with temps in the 90s during the day, so the propped open (screened in) sun roof and three open screened in windows were nice in the evening to cool things down. Fran also had two battery-powered fans which were so nice to sleep with! We brought a ton of our own stuff so didn't use much at the Yurt, but there was so much there we could have used, including pots and pans, a tea kettle with teas, French press with coffee, utensils, cheese grater, wine bottle opener; there also was oil to cook with and condiments. It was better stocked than we were expecting. There were also games! The compostable toilet was super clean and so convenient, as well as the hot shower facilities (which were not too far). We enjoyed seeing all the animals, and the general feel of the campground : in-touch with and respectful of nature. I loved the fact that we had a food compost bin in the yurt. Fran was such a great communicator and so kind; she clearly wanted to make sure our stay was wonderful, which it was. We wish we could have spent more time there.

Cabin camping at this little slice of heaven was everything I was looking for. Everyone working there and staying there were all kind and down to earth. They are pet friendly, reasonably priced, and just good people... What more could you ask for? The property is huge with lots of options for adventure (kayaking, tubing, and canoeing) as well as some hiking paths. The pups and I will most certainly be back!

Weekend Trip to Twin Springs Tiny House
Our 4-year-old wanted to go camping (first time!) for his birthday, and this was the perfect location. Directions for arrival were easy to follow, and our drive through the cow pasture was the ideal start. The site is private and comfortable, and Clinton met us a few minutes after we arrived to give us an overview of the location. Between the nearby stream, multiple walking paths, and the comfort of the tiny house, it was an excellent experience. We'll definitely be returning and would highly recommend - especially for younger campers.

Ford the stream and camp in the large field on the other side. Be sure to mind the animals and fields, as this is a working farm. One mile down the road from the farm is the Virginia Creeper Trail, renowned for biking, but as a multi-use trail, you can also enjoy walking, running, horseback riding, fishing, cross country skiing, and geocaching. South Holston Lake is only minutes away by vehicle, with two public access boating ramps 10 to 20 minutes away. For a drink by the water, head to Abingdon Vineyards- only 10 minutes away. Access to the Appalachian Trail is only 20 minutes away in Damascus. We became caretakers of this lovely property in June of 2021, moving from our existing farm, 45 minutes away. When we got it, it was a blank slate of a hayfield, and we have spent the summer laying infrastructure so that we may grow our cut-flower, honey, and vegetable business.

On the north side of the property, you’ll find our thriving fruit orchard with five varieties of apple trees, three types of peaches, three plum trees, two cherries, three pears, three persimmons, two pomegranate bushes, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, haskaps, Aronia berries, and even young chestnut and hazelnut trees. Our homestead is located up a steep gravel road and though the property is secluded, the cabin is near the main house. It is a Family atmosphere and a living farm so there will be noise from domestic and wild animals. Unplug and reconnect with Nature. No Wi-Fi or electricity, but a mini solar panel charges a light. Be aware there are snakes and spiders; creepy crawlers of all types. We are a chemical free property, please don’t bring toxins onto the site (this includes chemical bug sprays). We’ll help remove critters as needed. Elevation 1200ft; we’re 1/4 mile from Shenandoah National Park. Guided hikes and farm tours available (for a fee) if interested! We also have eggs for sale when our chickens are laying.Come stay in a secluded, relaxed environment where you can unplug and reconnect with Nature. Take naps, sit by the campfire, quietly read or meditate without being attached to your daily gadgets. Take in the mountain air and allow yourself to balance mind, body and spirit. My husband and I first lived on this property shortly after marrying 17 yrs ago, we moved to AK and back in 2013 and have been building our homestead from the ground up ever since. We love this mountain and consider our home a Beautiful Magical Place! We daily connect with the glorious natural elements surrounding us and give thanks constantly. We’ve learned a lot over the years about living with The Land and want to share this space with like-minded others. We tend to “rise with the Sun, and sleep when it’s done”, so don’t be surprised if you see David or myself, or our kids playing/working on site. If you like to chat, we’re usually available, if you like your privacy, we respect that too. There are a handful of neighbors, and sometimes cars travel up or down the road, but generally this is a quiet, peaceful area. Our two old time scotch collies keep most wildlife away, but once in a while you get a glimpse of turkey, or hawks, rabbits, etc…. Hiking and exploring the woods is welcome, but don’t stray to the neighbors We recently acquired a rare chicken breed, Scots Dumpies, and are trying to increase the flock, so there may be a chance to see baby chicks. The Stars do their thing on clear nights and are an amazing sight with the near zero light pollution. We love to view the stars and Moon in all her phases. We try to keep your need to bring much to a minimum, so we provide plenty of blankets and pillows ( or sleeping bag if desired), dishes and some cookware for over-the-fire meals, towels and wash cloths if a rain barrel “cat bath” is in order :), hand soap and toilet paper too! Life is in constant fluctuation up here at our mountain home, which is how we like it! Camp out with us and see why!

My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away.  This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet.  About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. The Guinea farm is 18 acres of feild and forest on the rural middle pennensula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded beaches and a boat launch. There is verly little traffic or light polution here, nature is at your fingertips. Come visit the farm and experience agrotourism at it's finest. Pick your own veggies in the community garden and meet the Guinea fowl! Enjoy the windernes and learn about the local ecosystem here on the middle pennensula. There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria is a primative site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy is a suspended tree tent in the pines 700' beyond that and seperated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an offgrid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property. Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays.
