This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. The bus is located in a gorgeous setting that is also convenient to main road into town for conveniences, restaurants, as well as access to spectacular forest for hiking and other outdoor activities. Weekend Trip to CB Ranch Camp -Almost Heaven cabins

Beautiful land very private and quiet. Place was roomy and comfy and loved the bear theme. Could see all the stars at night. We saw deer in the morning frolicking in the fall colors. They had a nice set up prepared for a small bonfire and water jugs to extinguish before bed which was a nice touch. There was a propane heater and plenty of blankets. We took a walk to the pond and located some frogs. We never made it to the shower but the area has plenty to do. We went to a cidery, drive over an 1800# covered bridge, lost caves and bridge day. Will come back some day.

Weekend Trip to Beaverdam Falls

This was an introduction to camping for our six year old, and he loved it! The yurt and campsite came with everything we needed to enjoy the outdoors while having creature comforts, and the communal trailer was nice to have to check-in with family. We didn’t need anything, but the camp store was also stocked with bare essentials in the event you leave something behind. The site was very private, and Beau, Leah, and the other guests were friendly. We hope to make it back to Beaverfalls again!

The entire property looks well run, the waterfall is pretty & you can hear it from the text, It was very moist out, as expected this time of year. We paid extra for bedding & it was totally worth it to arrive with the bed made. The bedding was perfect, very comfortable. The only negative at all is the text does have mold & just needs a routine power wash, not a big deal. Would definitely recommend! The leaves have started to change at that elevation and it was gorgeous!

Weekend Trip to Way Up Acres and Lodging

The bear camper had everything guests would need for a getaway in the woods such as air conditioner, space heater, extra blankets, camping area/seating and TV. With no cell reception and wifi, it was a true unplugged experience. The farm also had many types of animals - donkey, peacocks, pigs, hens, cats and goats. Guests being able to pet and feed them was really fascinating and fun! Farm fresh breakfast in their marketplace was great as well. It was a bit of a hike to the camper and was challenging to carry luggage from the designated parking. Specific parking should be provided near this camper (on the hill). Overall, a great experience away from home. We would love to come back and visit.

The place is a little hard to find but if you’re coming off interstate 81 just find Bojangles and go past Bojangles(comes to your left) into the small town and take the first left at the first red light. You will see the gravel road to your right right there.

It was a perfect spot. You literally are sleeping on top of a waterfall. You can hear it at night with and without the windows open. perfect spot for a campfire and grilling food which has a grate. They even have a community space that has an oven and things too if you prefer to cook that way, I hung twinkle lights all over the place to give it a cute feel and also the community space they offer free coffee and they also have snacks and other items to purchase. The cave was neat to explore on the property! You can even sit at the bottom of the waterfall and have a picnic or just hang out, you can even swim in it too! At the cabin they even made a trail directly to it for those that stay in this cabin. The space was perfect at the cabin for my dog. I had him on a 20 foot lead and worked out perfect.

4 nights at W.T. Farm?

I'm so glad we stayed here. This was such an incredible place it really feels like a hidden treasure. Incredible views EVERYWHERE. We came here specifically for the stars and milky way, which were amazing, but the fall colors really stole the show. This was the most wildflowers I've ever seen! Goldenrod in every direction. We were also completely alone here and there's plenty to explore. This is our new favorite place!
