In recent years the farm land was sub divided. My husband Jacob and I purchased this piece of property 8 years ago. We absolutely love it here and this land is our own slice of paradise.

The cabin is located on an old apple orchard and budding homestead. It is off-grid and powered by solar. It is a short walk from the parking area (75 steps uphill). The cabin is one room with a kitchenette, hot outdoor shower, and outdoor compost toilet. The cabin can sleep up to three people with a queen bed, futon, and pullout couch. The kitchen includes a gas range, mini fridge, a sink with running water, and basic kitchen cook wear. A propane heater is available for extra warmth on a chilly night. A shelf equipped with books and board games. A propane grill sits on the front porch, and a fire pit out front. The hot outdoor shower and compost toilet are 25 steps from the front door tucked into the tree line. The pond sits in front of the cabin, a picnic table sets by the edge.
We love living simply, and immersed in nature, and have designed the space for others who also share this passion. We often see deer, turkey, bear, fox, and coyote. Maybe you will too! You will love reading your book by the pond while listening to the frog chorus, and taking your evening shower while gazing upon the ancient oaks.
Our location is 15 minutes from the Appalachian Trail and James River access. The Jefferson Washington National Forest is nearby and offers opportunities for visiting waterfalls, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and paddling. Downtown Lynchburg is 20 minutes away with great restaurants, farmers markets and shopping.
We are a growing homestead. We are planting fruits trees, cultivating shiitake mushrooms, raising ducks and tending gardens here and have farm fresh products that are seasonally available to guests just ask!

Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping!
This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink.
But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area.
Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it.
You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations.
Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse.
River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo.
Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film.
Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress!
This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well.
Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

This is a working farm, home to both Livestock Guardian Dogs as well as resident dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, horses, goats and other various livestock. If you choose to bring your dog/s, please let us know when booking. You should NOT bring your dog/s if they are high-strung, overly sensitive, aggressive, or not trained. Our livestock guardian dogs are hard-wired to protect so if they sense an uncomfortable vibe from another dog, it will make them uncomfortable and they need to be focused on doing their jobs.
Safety, privacy and environmental impact is very important to us. We require a minimum of 50 feet between each campsite. Please contain all trash, human waste and canine waste and pack it out with you when you leave. Be kind to the areas in which you camp, as they are home to many wildlife, native trees/shrubs/plants and in some cases, food for horses and cows (hay fields).
Each site is provided a fire pit (upon request) and we sell firewood.

Only 1/2 mile upstream from Crabtree Falls and about 5 miles to the 3 Ridges/Priest Mountain trailhead on the AT. We are just over an hour north of Durham, NC, two hours southwest of Richmond, VA, and 30 minutes east of Danville, VA. Our property is 204 acres of beautiful wilderness, in an international Dark Sky zone (you can see the milky way on a clear night), where you can usually hear nothing other than the calls of the animals.
The property is accessed via a half mile dirt and grass road that drops you off at the main camping area at the Old Tobacco Barn. From there you have access to a composting toilet and fire circle.
Roughly half the property was cleared and is open and overgrown with brush. The other half of the property is various types and stages of forest, from young to old.
We have 5 waterways that I have counted so far (it's a lot of land!), including 1.5 miles of Sandy Creek, which is more of a small river than a creek, beautiful swimmable natural springs, and a half acre pond (with beavers!). We have two kayaks that you can use on the pond, and you can bring tubes or kayaks and paddle down Sandy Creek all the way to Banister River a few miles downstream.
Camping is available throughout the property, although you will see several marked and prepped sites along the road or in the woods. This is rustic camping, meaning that you can drive up to some camping sites, but others are off the road and require a bit of trekking through brush, trails, or woods.
This area of the state is an international dark sky zone, and the views at night are glorious - the milky way is clearly visible, you can generally catch shooting stars with regularity on any clear night, and if you bring binoculars or a telescope, you have a clear view of most of the sky.
If you enjoy wild plants, foraging, bird watching, tracking, or generally getting out into a natural space, then you will enjoy the diversity of the wildlife and plant life on the property.
Animals that we have verified on the land include Deer (lots!), Racoons, Cayote, Turkey, Black Bear, Fox, and a large variety of birds and other critters that we haven't identified.
We have house sized boulders along Sandy Creek that you can climb on, and the creek itself is clean and swimmable. There is lots to explore throughout the property and, most of all, it's a wonderful place to rest and relax out in nature.
A few things to keep in mind:
* The road is a dirt road, meaning that it turns muddy after it rains. Please be mindful of this and park at the front and walk in if it is raining or has rained the day before you arrive. Also, if it looks like it will rain while you are on site, you may want to move your vehicle to the front of the property to make it easier to get out when you leave. Having said that, the road is good and any car can drive it without issue when it is dry.
* Smaller campers and trailers are welcome on the property as well, although we do not have a place to dump/empty your septic, so please take waste off site.
* We do not have showers or potable water on site, so you will need to pack water in with you. This is rustic camping.
* We do have a composting toilet - please drop a handful of wood shavings into the bucket when you are done. For folks who are comfortable doing so, please consider urinating outside rather than in the composting toilet. ;)

UVA sports complex is only 30 minutes away and you’re able to go the back way in to skip the gridlock of the traffic.

Our location is 15 minutes from the Appalachian Trail and James River access. Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping!
This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink.
But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area.
Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it.
You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations.
Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse.
River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film.
Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress!
This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well.
Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

This is a working farm, home to both Livestock Guardian Dogs as well as resident dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, horses, goats and other various livestock. If you choose to bring your dog/s, please let us know when booking. You should NOT bring your dog/s if they are high-strung, overly sensitive, aggressive, or not trained. Our livestock guardian dogs are hard-wired to protect so if they sense an uncomfortable vibe from another dog, it will make them uncomfortable and they need to be focused on doing their jobs.
Safety, privacy and environmental impact is very important to us. We require a minimum of 50 feet between each campsite. Please contain all trash, human waste and canine waste and pack it out with you when you leave. Be kind to the areas in which you camp, as they are home to many wildlife, native trees/shrubs/plants and in some cases, food for horses and cows (hay fields).
Each site is provided a fire pit (upon request) and we sell firewood.

We are just over an hour north of Durham, NC, two hours southwest of Richmond, VA, and 30 minutes east of Danville, VA. Our property is 204 acres of beautiful wilderness, in an international Dark Sky zone (you can see the milky way on a clear night), where you can usually hear nothing other than the calls of the animals.
The property is accessed via a half mile dirt and grass road that drops you off at the main camping area at the Old Tobacco Barn. From there you have access to a composting toilet and fire circle.
Roughly half the property was cleared and is open and overgrown with brush. The other half of the property is various types and stages of forest, from young to old.
We have 5 waterways that I have counted so far (it's a lot of land!), including 1.5 miles of Sandy Creek, which is more of a small river than a creek, beautiful swimmable natural springs, and a half acre pond (with beavers!). We have two kayaks that you can use on the pond, and you can bring tubes or kayaks and paddle down Sandy Creek all the way to Banister River a few miles downstream.
Camping is available throughout the property, although you will see several marked and prepped sites along the road or in the woods. This is rustic camping, meaning that you can drive up to some camping sites, but others are off the road and require a bit of trekking through brush, trails, or woods.
This area of the state is an international dark sky zone, and the views at night are glorious - the milky way is clearly visible, you can generally catch shooting stars with regularity on any clear night, and if you bring binoculars or a telescope, you have a clear view of most of the sky.
If you enjoy wild plants, foraging, bird watching, tracking, or generally getting out into a natural space, then you will enjoy the diversity of the wildlife and plant life on the property.
Animals that we have verified on the land include Deer (lots!), Racoons, Cayote, Turkey, Black Bear, Fox, and a large variety of birds and other critters that we haven't identified.
We have house sized boulders along Sandy Creek that you can climb on, and the creek itself is clean and swimmable. There is lots to explore throughout the property and, most of all, it's a wonderful place to rest and relax out in nature.
A few things to keep in mind:
* The road is a dirt road, meaning that it turns muddy after it rains. Please be mindful of this and park at the front and walk in if it is raining or has rained the day before you arrive. Also, if it looks like it will rain while you are on site, you may want to move your vehicle to the front of the property to make it easier to get out when you leave. Having said that, the road is good and any car can drive it without issue when it is dry.
* Smaller campers and trailers are welcome on the property as well, although we do not have a place to dump/empty your septic, so please take waste off site.
* We do not have showers or potable water on site, so you will need to pack water in with you. This is rustic camping.
* We do have a composting toilet - please drop a handful of wood shavings into the bucket when you are done. For folks who are comfortable doing so, please consider urinating outside rather than in the composting toilet. ;)

UVA sports complex is only 30 minutes away and you’re able to go the back way in to skip the gridlock of the traffic.

Weekend Trip to Twin Springs Tiny House
My partner & I loved our winter weekend here! Host was super accommodating. We’re super grateful for his help in getting our stuff to the cabin since our Civic wouldn’t have gotten that far into the property in the current snowy/ rainy conditions. The cabin itself is tucked away into a wooded area on his property, it’s like you enter another world once you pass over the little bridge. There’s a fire pit, generator, & outhouse. The cabin is very small but perfect for a couple or a little family. There’s pillows & blankets but we also brought a couple extra blankets, which I’m glad we did. The wood burning stove did a fairly good job of keeping us warm during a 20ish degree night except that it’s pretty small so be prepared with smaller pieces of wood or firelogs which burn slower. Host also provided a good amount of water, camp stove, random cookware, etc. Quite well stocked place. We didn’t get to meet the host but we did see his adorable dogs on our way out so that was awesome :) overall the vibes were wonderful

Weekend Trip to Arcadia Sanctuary
We had an absolutely incredible stay at this mountain yurt in Amherst, Virginia. We came in the winter months (because we’re a little crazy) and ended up getting stuck during a snowstorm — and somehow that made the whole experience even more unforgettable.
The hosts were beyond amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we were safe, comfortable, and taken care of the entire time. True hospitality. 11/10.

Weekend Trip to Twin Springs Tiny House
Awesome little cabin. My girlfriend and I usually car camp, so the cabin was an upgrade to get out of the cold while doing some winter camping. Things I really enjoyed was the wood stove, the overall simplicity of the cabin, and how the cabin was tucked away in the woods. Also shoutout to Clinton! Awesome host when we got there.

This was an awesome camp experience! The pit toilet was spotless and checking in was easy. Adam was friendly and delivered some great firewood. There were a few thin, dead pines leaning precariously here and there, so I recommend scanning where you plan to set up your tent to avoid having one fall in the night or on a car (always a good idea anyway). Cool sculptures and artist vibe in the front and great proximity to Devil's Marbleyard!

I loved everything about it. Came with 2 kids (age 6 and 10). Spent the night. Enjoyed the wildlife (cows, donkeys and sheep) and the firepit. The house was heated with great facilities as described. Would recommend.

The cabin was great for our trip. My two sons and I enjoyed the rustic feel of the cabin and the isolated feel of the property. The hosts were super responsive and kind. I would recommend this cabin to anyone.

Great spot for us to stay and refresh! We only stayed one night but we were able to use the full hookups to take showers, etc. after being on the road a good while. Peaceful, private spot in a field. Kerwin guided us in and was very friendly and accommodating. Wish we could have stayed longer, definitely recommend.

Best weekend ever! Clinton was a great host, and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin is super cute, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing weekend to unplug and unwind! If going in the middle of winter with a few inches of snow (like us), bring a few extra blankets. We had brought some extras and stayed plenty warm. Would definitely go back!

We stayed for one night. We were booked at site 2, but Sydney let us move to site 1, which was larger and easier to level. The location is beautiful. Amazing views and very quiet. It’s a short drive to downtown Lexington, where we went for dinner. We were passing through, so didn’t do anything else. Sydney was quick to respond when we reached out. Would definitely stay again.

Very cool place with multiple trails through the property. We chose a spot near the bottom by the creek, it was very peaceful! My girls enjoyed finding all the bikes, sleds, and lights around the property. The nostalgic vehicles are a nice touch! We will happily return👍🏼

Persimmon Patch was very nice with lots of space & privacy. (our campsite was at least acre). The facilities were nice, and the hosts were friendly and went out of thier way to accommodate our needs--they even dewinterized plumbing for us.

As a repeat guest for 3 years now, Mane Gait Equestrian Center is one of our top favorites on Hipcamp. It is so beautiful & peaceful . Wide open sky for star gazing, surrounded by beautiful mountains in the distance. Hook-up is easy for Elec & water. Maybe a little un-level in spots for larger RVS but no complaints here ! This last stay; we booked an extra night to go hiking locally, visit Lexington and local breweries ! Many excellent trails to choose from & Natural Bridge State Park is worth the visit too!
