Beautiful, private camp site on Broadbrook Mtn. This camp site is the only one on the farm and you have the entire property to yourself. The the camp site is located up 1/16 mile dirt driveway with closest neighbors 1/2 mile away. The site is adjacent to a ravine with a babbling brook, perfect for a cold plunge, foot soak or forest bathing (see photos). The site is surrounded by apple orchards and beautiful woods including an old woods road perfect for forest strolling.
Broadbrook Mountain Farm is located at the top of the mountain, with beautiful mountain vistas, scenic hayfields and pastures. We are situated within many miles of dirt roads, perfect for gravel riding and long walks.
We provide a fire pit, composting toilet, picnic table and adirondack chairs.
**** If you are planning to have a fire we are requiring that wood be purchased from us due to concern for conservation of our micro ecosystem and prevention of the Emerald Ash Borer (which has now reached portions of VT). AMENITIES: we offer a hot outdoor shower & sink, as well as an outhouse with a composting toilet. Each campsite has a firepit and a picnic table.
CAMPSITE DETAILS: We currently have 2 campsites open. They are located in meadows with beautiful views of the First Branch Valley and Chelsea village. 4 wheel drive is recommended, but not necessary, and you are always welcome to hike up to your site. The site is spacious and private.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: We also run Free Verse Farm Shop (OPEN: Tuesday-Friday 11am-6pm, Saturday 9am-3pm), a local grocery, café, and apothecary to serve our community and visitors to the area, while supporting local farms and artisans. You can also pre-order online (shop.freeversefarm.com) to pick up in store or ship your order around the USA.
The village of Chelsea hosts a weekly summer farmers market May-September on Fridays from 3-6pm (mid-May through September). In downtown Chelsea there is gas station (110 Quickstop), two town commons, a small library, and a general store (Will's Store), and a farm stand (Chicken Wiggle Farm).
Within 20-45 minutes of our farm you can reach the larger towns of Montpelier (state capital), South Royalton, Randolph, Woodstock, White River Junction, and the Upper Valley Region (Dartmouth College), all of which offer a wide variety of attractions and services. Upon your arrival, you will be given a welcome packet with more detailed information about our area, and we'll be happy to provide you with any other tips you're looking for.

While we do not have a kitchen, we provide propane grill, BBQ grill shared refrigerators, pans, utensils, and dishwashing area, Please expect some vintage aspects, such as door handles, screens, windows, that function according to their age. These are not new modern trailers and we think that adds to the appeal! However they are clean and cozy!Your trailer is down by the pond, the wildlife clay bottom is spring fed, swimming is allowed during daylight hours only and it is "Swim at your own Risk". Please read the house rules regarding rinsing off and refraining from getting suntan oil etc. in the pond. We usually have wood on site for sale, advance request is much appreciated and please pay upon arrival with cash, $10 per ample bundle and $15 for a bag of charcoal. We do not deliver after 5pm so please order in advance. PLEASE NOTE- you do not have our property to yourselves. We live onsite and on any given night, both trailers can be rented. The cook station, picnic table/benches under the pavilion and composting toilet are communally used. IMPORTANT-PLEASE PLAN TO CHECK IN BETWEEN 4 and 6:30 pm as this is not a location where we can accommodate arrivals after dark. After checking in, you can head back out for dinner, we are a mere 5 miles from Quechee. Water is available from the year round trout stream, but drinking water must be carried in. Shaded Brookside Glen has a picnic table, a metal fire pit, and limited fire wood is supplied. The drive to the site is across a grassy, mowed, well drained field, but can be effected by long periods of rain.

The village of Chelsea hosts a weekly summer farmers market May-September on Fridays from 3-6pm (mid-May through September). In downtown Chelsea there is gas station (110 Quickstop), two town commons, a small library, and a general store (Will's Store), and a farm stand (Chicken Wiggle Farm).
Within 20-45 minutes of our farm you can reach the larger towns of Montpelier (state capital), South Royalton, Randolph, Woodstock, White River Junction, and the Upper Valley Region (Dartmouth College), all of which offer a wide variety of attractions and services. Upon your arrival, you will be given a welcome packet with more detailed information about our area, and we'll be happy to provide you with any other tips you're looking for.

We live on about 10 acres that are adjacent to beautiful forests, walking trails, a pond for swimming, as well as walking distance to many beautiful mountain bike trails and Blueberry Lake.
We have horses on the property, which are beautiful to watch and pet. We do not provide horseback riding. We are about a 15-minute drive to Waitsfield, home to many great restaurants and a brewery. We are also an hour from Burlington and Stowe, which are fun to explore.

History: Family hay farm, 82 acres, owned since 2004, back in the 1940's they had pigs, goats, horses. In 1970 it was used to train trotters. Come enjoy!We have 3 tent sites along the North Branch of the Black River on the perimeter of our 82 acre hay farm. Main house is a five minute walk. There are countless fun activities within a 20 mile radius:- Ascutney Trails for hiking and mountain biking- Okemo Adventure Zone 12 miles away- Harpoon Brewery and CT River for canoeing and tubing 11 miles away- Live music and awesome food available in the Upper CT River Valley- Shopping in Woodstock. The host accepted our last minute request on a holiday weekend! Great private spot in open field. Easy communications with host, family friendly and great for dogs. The river is a nice addition for the kids/dog. True to VT, it’s close to nothing, nearest coffee is 20 mins away. Great escape.

This was easily our favorite Hipcamp so far on our 11day roadtrip with our small family. You get a whole road/loop to yourself with a gate you can close for privacy. The creek was perfect to explore and the site came with a fire pit, optional firewood for purchase, and a nice lush spot to pop your tent up. I was especially grateful for the loop aspect. We pitched our suv adaptable tent but we needed to go to the store so we detached, came back, and it was so simple to just reattach because we could loop around and pull right where we were. The outhouse was good size to change clothes in or use the restroom. There were cars who drove by up the hill but honesty it was nice (felt safe) for us after being very secluded for a while prior. The cars were up the hill so it was still private. Can’t say enough good things about this site!

Forrest’s Hipcamp spot is perfect! It’s a well maintained and super leveled spot. The brook next to the site is such a delightful treat especially at night. The outhouse is clean and fully stocked. My pup loved the spot because he had a ton of space to roam. Forrest is an amazing and communicative host. I would highly recommend this spot! Will be coming back for sure!

Highly recommend camping on Roy's farm! So quiet with outside views of the mountains. I went in the fall time and the weather was beautiful. He also was very attentive and hospitable.

Weekend Trip to Green Mountain Trails
We stayed here while mountain biking the Heart of the Greens loop on the Velomont trail. It was the perfect spot. The stars were amazing, sunrise was fantastic and the descent in the morning was great. Matt was responsive and recommended some great trails. I want to back already.

Bring food, clothes, bedding, fuel (if you don’t want to cook only on wood), power packs to charge devices, headlamps are always good, and an exploring soul. The mountains will mold you.

Weekend Trip to The Hollow at Dynamite Falls
Absolutely beautiful raw nature! The steep walk up is well worth it! Tent is spacious and comfortable. Take the trip to the hollow, not an easy hike but the reward is amazing! The zip line was so much fun, we now need one at home lol. We even enjoyed the occasional sound of the trains going by below. Can't wait to return in the spring!!

Thank you to the private owner and steward of this incredible land. Feeling very grateful they have so generously opened this property to the public and have invited strangers to stay in and use their spaces. Matthew the steward, does a great job on the trail system and maintaining Shreks.
We (2 adults) spent 3 nights with our 2 (almost 3) year old. The hike up is easy and straightforward. Our toddler made the trek to and from the car many times without assistance. The climb up is gradual thanks to rollers, berms and switchbacks. The green and blue trails are very doable with a shotgun bike seat. The hike up with packs and a toddler took us about 35/40 minutes. The hike down about 25 minutes. This was much faster when we were carrying our toddler.
The cabin has everything you need. Which is a great reminder of how little we actually need. We had enough water provided by the Matthew, wood to warm us through 3 cold and windy nights and enough battery lights that we rarely used our headlamps. We played with rocks, colored, watched the ruby crowned kinglets and juncos frolic in the wildflowers, enjoyed the provided games and books and watched the moon and milkyway rise. We hiked and biked. We cooked on the potbelly but also used our own stove as it's faster but you certainly could do all your cooking on the potbelly. The bottom bunk will fit two zlite pads sides by side. The view is stunning. A truly special place.
