The Center Farm

1 site · Lodging142 acres · Hardwick, VT
This land is a very special place. The energy is calming and you will feel at peace with yourself after just a short time walking through the woods. This property was first purchased by my great grandfather in 1919. I was fortunate to be able to purchase it from my father in 2007. Much work was done to bring it back from being neglected and overgrown. The original buildings burned to the ground in 1948 and the property has been rebuilt over the last dozen years. It is a work in progress but also a labor of love. Enjoy a stay in this small rustic cabin. Experience peace and solitude while enjoying magnificent views atop forested hills offering stunning southeast views that overlook Vermont's central mountain ranges. The site is secluded and private and is ideally situated to view wildlife, allowing one to experience the outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. WiFi is available at the barn should there be the need to reconnect with the world at large. Two guests sleep comfortably in the cabin; four would be a little tight but manageable - there is ample room for tents if need be. The 8' x 8' cabin has one set of twin bunkbeds (bedding is not provided) and an 8' x 4' covered porch. In the colder seasons there is a propane Buddy Heater available to keep the cabin cozy. The outhouse with a composting toilet is situated close to the cabin. There is a fire ring on the stone patio with a cooking grate available for grilling. Pre-purchased firewood will be at the cabin, ready for your arrival. Additional wood is available for purchase on the way up to the cabin. Recently added is a portable kitchen, set up outside for an easier cooking experience as well as a wash bin for dishes. Items available at the site: Water for dishes Cast iron pan for grilling/grate cooking Small pots with covers (multiple) Pizza pan for grilling/grate cooking Basic grilling utensils (spatula, tongs) Serving spoon(s) Various eating utensils/knives Cups/plates/bowls Dish soap & cloths Heat-resistant gloves (for grates) Small propane grill First aid kit & fire extinguisher The main property is located in the heart of a rural farming community between the town of Greensboro (home of Caspian Lake), and the village of Hardwick. It offers 3 - 4 miles of groomed, wooded trails, ideal for walking, hiking, mountain and fat biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The cabin is also in close proximity to Hill Farmstead Brewery (7 miles), The Highland Center for the Arts (3 miles) and the Willey's Store (3.5 miles). The village of Hardwick (3 miles) offers local shops, markets, restaurants, Buffalo Mountain Co-op and Front Seat Coffee (an artisan coffee house also offering free WiFi). 13 miles from the town of Craftsbury and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, an olympic-style sport training facility catering to all ability levels. Additionally the central location offers access to many of Vermont's State Parks (Green River Reservoir State Park, Elmore State Park, Groton State Park, Crystal Lake State Park, Willoughby State Forest, Brighton State Park, just to name a few) offering daily access for hiking, fishing, swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing and kayaking.

Feel Good Farm

11 sites · RVs, Tents150 acres · Wolcott, VT
This 150-acre property has been in our family for 30 years and now houses three generations. Built in 1900 it was a traditional dairy farm until the 50's and 60's when potatoes were planted on the fields for the Boston and New York markets. By the 70's and 80's it became a gentleman's farm for a retired couple from New York City and the dairy farmers nearby hayed the fields. When we purchased the property in 1993 we continued offering the hay, built greenhouses, planted vegetable and flower gardens, ran a traditional Bed and Breakfast, now airbnb. We leased some of the fields to a local organic seed company for 13 years until they purchased their own property. The farm remains certified organic and is still being hayed by a local dairy farm, the gardens are community managed using regenerative and sustainable practices when ever possible. This year in the commercial garden, seed crops will be planted once again. Much of the cultivated agricultural land is protected under the Vermont Land Trust, to ensure that it remains used for agricultural purposes. We love to share our farm and forest with others. In addition to our very intentional farming operations, you can find wild edibles tucked away on forest trails. Wildlife and wildflowers abound. Views and sunsets. Check out the 968 acre wildlife management area that abuts the property. Plenty of trails through the woods leading to Wolcott Pond and hidden beaver huts and dams. Children 16 and under no charge but before booking please contact us to let us know how many children and we'll send a discount code. so you won't be charged when indicating number of people in your party. Our little pond behind the big greenhouse has filled up a bit more this spring which you are welcome to use for dipping or frog watching. Starting in June the outdoor kitchen and sun showers will be available for guests use. We can host large parties with advance notice.

Lake Tenting/Sm. RV Hyde Park VT

1 site · RV, Tent6 acres · Hyde Park, VT
You have your choice of camping with your van or small RV or tent, in a level, forested area (not lakeside) with picnic table and fire pit, or tenting lakeside with water views, picnic table and fire pit, or both! You have access to both, one reservation comes with both spots, so you can enjoy the lakeside regardless of where you sleep. Vehicles cannot reach the tent site, it is a steep trail about a 150 feet. Although our campsite is near the lake, you cannot drive to the water from the campsite. It is a steep, short hike down to the water. We recommend you bring canoes, kayaks and/ or paddle boards to get the most enjoyment out of your stay. It will be a rugged trip with the boats up and down the path to the water, but worth it in every way. There are three private homes on the lake, adjacent to where your site it located so we ask that no loud partying, play music only quietly and no generators. There are no campers on either side of your campsite, we only offer one, the perfect social distancing location. There is a nice, clean outhouse and no other amenities (Tier D in HipCamp-speak). No on site water. There are no other campsites at our place, you have the place to yourself. We have two dogs on the property, who are friendly and are off leash. If having dogs around would be a problem for you, please don't make a reservation. If you plan on bringing a dog please let us know.

This 1965 Airstream 'Globetrotter' is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom, just minutes from the center of Greensboro, VT. A short walk brings you to the center of town where you'll find Willey's Store (groceries, wine/beer, hardware, housewares, clothing/shoes and gas). Greensboro also has an art gallery, amazing glass & pottery artists, library, arts center and more. Caspian Lake is a short walk or drive from the Airstream. Less than 10 minutes away, you'll arrive at Hill Farmstead Brewery, a destination craft brewery, winning "best beer in the world" status many years running! WELCOME to Fallingwater Airstream, a vintage Airstream glamping experience! Come & enjoy this unique opportunity, where "less is more". You'll discover our fully-equipped camper has everything you need for an escape away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life - all while allowing you to live simply and reconnect to what matters most. Located in a magical woodland setting and running on solar energy, Fallingwater offers you the opportunity to replenish your soul and recharge your mind. Fallingwater is situated on the site of the historic Greensboro sawmill - from which the entire original town was built! Perched high above a cascading brook in a wooded setting...with natural deck and firepit to relax and enjoy the sights & sounds of the brook below. (Firewood and kindling are available on site.) You'll wake up to the sounds of water flowing, birds singing and views of the sun shining through the tall trees. Relax on the deck, or in Adirondack chairs around the fire, while cooking your dinner over a campfire. Settle in for the night under the starry skies or bistro lighting and savor the peace and tranquility. There is nothing like the night sky in the Northeast Kingdom! This vintage 1965 Airstream 'Globetrotter' is a 19' long vacation in a trailer! The curvaceous interior has been restored for comfort and ease of living. The exterior is traditional "aircraft aluminum" and the interior has been restored for comfort and convenience...lots of storage drawers and cabinets. The interior features the original "Zolatone" paint. The space boasts a couch, which transforms into a full-sized bed. (Since it can be a little tricky to unfold, we'll have the bed set up and already made with cozy linens, down comforter and warm blankets for your arrival.) Above the bed area is a sliding cabinet where we keep books, maps, etc. You'll find books on local Vermont wildflowers, mushrooms, campfire recipes and outdoor survival. The kitchenette features a propane stove/oven, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, and is fully equipped with pots and pans, bowls, colander, dishes, glasses and mugs, and utensils/cooking gadgets. There are many cabinets for storage. The eating area is a table for 2 with cushioned seats and throw pillows, overlooking the deck and woodland setting. (This table and seats can be turned into an additional bed for a third person, if requested.) There are 2 storage closets between the kitchen and bathroom, where you'll find: extra blankets, bath/hand towels and washcloths, hair dryer, first aid kit, extra toilet paper, paper towels and space to hang clothing. The bath area features a medicine cabinet for storage and small shower stall with curtain and bath mat. There is a heater at this end of the trailer which can be used in colder months to heat the entire trailer. We have removed the toilet from inside the trailer and built a composting outhouse (with a light) just steps away from the trailer. Lighting is provided for the walk to the outhouse at night. The Airstream is set up to be off-grid, powered by solar energy, with electricity as a backup. Internet and land line (from which you can make local calls) are part of modern conveniences. There is no TV - we recommend bringing a laptop if you'd like to stream movies via Wifi. Guests must carry in drinking water. There is a limited supply of water (about 110 gallons) for showering/dish washing, etc. Water is gravity-fed from a tank in the sawmill barn and we must re-fill depending on how quickly guests use water. Water to the Airstream is only available up until the first chance of freezing in the fall, it becomes available again after the winter thaw and is safe for showering, hand-washing and doing dishes/cleaning. We recommend that you conserve water as much as possible - quick showers and don't leave water running for extended periods. IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE: *Bring your own toiletries, though sample sizes are provided. *The mini-fridge is small, so limit your grocery load until you see the space. You can walk to Willey's around the corner for groceries or supplies. *Feel free to bring anything you might need for traditional camping - there's a good chance we already provide it, but best to be prepared! *Limit shower times to be sure you don't run out of hot water! (This is a camper after all and the hot water heater runs off of solar power.) Guest access When you enter the property, you'll see the giant barn that was once the old sawmill, along with a small red barn. Parking area is noted with signs. A short walk past the barn will bring you to the Airstream. The property is 8 wooded acres, separated by a brook that runs through it. Guests are conveniently close to the center of Greensboro, yet you'll feel like you're a world away when in the Airstream. A walk through the woods will lead you to openings where you can sit by the brook and enjoy the peace and solitude. In the woodland areas, you can no longer hear the sounds of society. Willey's Store is just minutes from the property, and has just about everything you could imagine...food, a fabulous selection of beer/wine, clothing and shoes, housewares and hardware. The town of Greensboro also boasts an art gallery, glass/pottery artisans, library, and the Highland Art Center, which is a cultural arts campus (and home of the Hardwick Street Cafe). The town of Hardwick is a 10 minute drive from the center of town with lots of restaurants to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The quaint town also has multiple grocery stores and shops. Fallingwater is located just a few miles from Hill Farmstead Brewery, voted Best Brewery in the world many years running - a local must-visit! Seasonal outdoor activities in the area are endless. Greensboro has it's own set of cross-country ski trails and is just 15 minutes from the Craftsbury Outdoor Center (hundreds of miles of pristine cross-country skiing and sculling). We're just minutes from Caspian Lake, where you can swim from the public beach, kayak, canoe, SUP and more. We're about 45 minutes from Stowe, Burke Mountain and Jay Peak for downhill skiing. Easy to strenuous hiking can be found all around the area - so much to do within 30 minutes or more of Greensboro. Lake Willoughby (a truly otherworldly place) is about 35 minutes away. Fall foliage season is unbelievably gorgeous, especially when viewed from high within the mountains! Other things to note Seasonal Information: In warmer months, you can get here easily in any vehicle. In snowy weather, we highly recommend 4WD or AWD vehicles for getting around this area - there are many secondary roads with packed snow/sand in winter, and these roads can be difficult to navigate without snow tires or 4WD. In winter months, it snows here almost every day - sometimes just a flurry and sometimes a few inches or more. Guests are expected to do some light shoveling if necessary, around the trailer and their own vehicles. Snow boots and proper outerwear are a must!
