The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. This land is the home to Brad and Sarah, cats, gardens and a variety of wildlife. It is here that we run Roots School, a wilderness earth skills school, instructing adults and youth alike. The land has over a half a mile of river frontage and several streams, a beautiful varied forest, rambling topography, and plenty of wildlife. Many lessons in tracking may be found as whitetails, moose, black bear, fishers, bobcats, porcupine, coyotes, foxes, mink, ermine, snowshoe hare, wild turkey, and ruffled grouse, are seen and tracked. Often times we are also lucky enough to catch a hawk circling the pasture and to hear the barred owls calls in the darkness of night. The diversity of plants, trees, and animals make this an ideal place to study and grow, or simply hang out in and experience.

Retreat to our cozy yurt and relax by the wood fire. This enchanting yurt is very special to us! Previous friends and guests have exclaimed how romantic it is. It has electricity, a tiny refrigerator, wood stove and a comfy bed. The composting toilet is available outside. To get to the yurt 4WD recommended, ice and rain can greatly affect the roads. There is a parking spot available to park across from Deer Road. Take the very short walk to the yurt. Near our site is Green Mountain National Forest to explore. Blueberry Lake is just a short walk down our hill. Blueberry Lake is widely used year round for swimming, ice fishing, seasonal fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Long Trail nearby Bike trails/x country ski trails are connected right to our homestead. Continue on the trail and access some of the best mountain biking trails and snow biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. Sugarbush Resort is a 10 minute drive and is one of the best ski mountains in the area! Learn more about this land: Texas Hill Brook camp site The Texas Hill Brook site is a flat, wooded campsite on Texas Hill Brook in Huntington. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.

We live on about 10 acres that are adjacent to beautiful forests, walking trails, a pond for swimming, as well as walking distance to many beautiful mountain bike trails and Blueberry Lake. We have horses on the property, which are beautiful to watch and pet. We do not provide horseback riding. We are about a 15-minute drive to Waitsfield, home to many great restaurants and a brewery. We are also an hour from Burlington and Stowe, which are fun to explore.

We had such a great time at the yurt and exploring the property with our two dogs! Morgan did a great job of showing us everything we needed to know for our stay. The yurt itself is absolutely beautiful and truly makes you feel like you’re sleeping in nature. The location that they chose to build the yurt provides an amazing view of the mountains right out the front window. We opted to use the wood-fired hot tub while we were there and it was a fantastic experience. Although the wood stove was out of commission during our stay, the space heaters that were provided were more than enough to keep the yurt toasty, even during the cold late November nights. We would gladly come back again!

Frank is a really nice guy and has a beautiful property. His land is tucked away deep in the woods down a dirt road. His house is on the property, but he’s got a really large lot of land with beautiful views of nearby mountains. I stayed on his property in winter, and he was super accommodating, he plowed for me, helped me pick out the best spot that would be shielded from the wind, and even provided me with an extension cord for power and some wood. I’ll definitely be back. He’s got amazing views and a very private feeling property. He even offered that I could stay in his finished lower level if I got too cold. Cool property and it’s really close to Mt Pisgah where I was doing some hikes.

Weekend Trip to Woodbury Meadows

Jon was most accommodating and a wealth of local information. He loaned us an electric heater for our camper so we didn't have to use the noisy one installed. The driveway was a bit daunting for backing up but we did it without too much effort. There's a great hike with waterfalls on the property and a cute cafe close by with good food and live music. The bathrooms were the cleanest and nicest I have seen camping! We will definitely return!

We stayed in the yurt for a weekend and loved it! Bed was comfy and thought the woodstove wasn't working, the space heater kept us cozy. Morgan and Rush were excellent hosts, answered all our questions graciously and made us very welcome. The woodfired hot tub was glorious. Hope we can visit again someday!

Weekend Trip to Burke Backyard Bell Tent

I enjoyed my stay at the Burke Backyard Bell Tent! I met Deste briefly and she was friendly. The town of East Burke is only a few minutes away and there was super easy access to lots of incredible mountain biking. While you have to walk from the driveway past the house to get to the tent, once you are there it feels pretty private and spacious. It was clean and there were some cute solar lights. The only thing I would improve is the bathroom situation, which is a pretty simple Boxio set up which I didn't find the most comfortable.

It is in the middle of nowhere but pretty easy to find off the main road. Dog friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect location if you plan on visiting surrounding cities, like Stowe. Camp site was well taken care of. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave several recommendations for activities and dining ahead of the visit for planning. All around really nice dude! Multiple showers/flushable toilets available. Dog friendly. Many guests but was very quiet, which was great. Bathroom could be a bit cleaner/welcoming...but it is camping and I'm always grateful just to have access to utilities. Over all, nice stay.
