Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.

The view is beautiful! We were lucky to have arrived after a few inches of snow had fallen and it stayed on the trees the whole time we were there-it was absolutely gorgeous! We saw deer cross the road, heard owls and coyotes. Trails at the end of the road. As it states the cabin is small but Kathleen made excellent use of the space and 2 adults in there was just fine. Very cozy, more than enough wood to keep the woodstove going and have campfires. Everything you need is already provided. Was cloudy when we were there but on a clear night it would be a fantastic place to stargaze. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess. Very accommodating, very responsive and just a sweetheart all around.

We had such a lovely stay here! The host was incredibly responsive to all our questions, and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It came with a portable heater inside that kept us warm at night (just remember to turn on the gas outside first!). Without proper winter clothing, it might be a bit chilly to stay here during the colder months, but we went toward the end of October and it was still perfect! And the hot tub!! Such a clever and wonderful addition! Just a heads up: you’ll need to build a strong fire to get it hot within about 3 hours, and you’ll likely want to make two fires - one for the tub and another to sit back and enjoy. Be sure to bring lanterns, as it gets dark pretty quickly once the sun sets. Even though we had cloudy skies, we could tell that on a clear night the stargazing would be incredible. The cabin is well-equipped with dishes and running water for light cooking, brushing teeth, etc. There’s also a small convenience store about 8 minutes away on the main road. Overall, we would highly recommend this place. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning!

We loved staying at Kathleen’s place! The cabin is very private, feels completely safe, and the view is fantastic. Everything was very clean and nicely organized, and the minute you arrive you have everything you need. Even though the weather was cold, we stayed cozy and warm thanks to the wood stove, which was surprisingly efficient. HOWL is at the bas of Camel's Hump! It's an easy drive to the trailhead and one heck of a hike up. Totally worth it! There are equally cozy or adventurous options all around HOWL.

It’s really well equipped and has everything you need. Kathleen was super communicative and even helped us find the cabin in the dark (we missed the sign). We stayed there with our dachshund who loved running around and feeling free outside of the city!

I really enjoyed staying on the bus—it was such a unique experience! I was grateful it was available for a last-minute booking that same night. Carol’s communication and responsiveness were excellent, making check-in smooth even with my late-night arrival. The bus itself was cozy and charming, set right on the farm with a clean outhouse just steps away, equipped with a motion light for nighttime use. Inside, the space was thoughtfully arranged with a small table, chairs, two sofa beds, and foldable mattresses. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and each window had blinds to block out light. It was a cold night, but I came prepared with sleeping bags, extra blankets, and heating pads. Carol also offers a space heater as an add-on, which I’d recommend during cooler seasons! A pleasant surprise was the power bar which was so useful for charging my devices and the bus also had reliable Wi-Fi! I only stayed one night but wish I’d had more time to explore the farm, there were adorable animals on my way out! I also wish I’d tried the breakfast add-ons as they looked delicious. Overall, it was a memorable stay that I’d definitely recommend. I got to tell all my friends that I slept on a bus and had a great story to tell! Thanks Carol :)

Welcome to my camper in this magical location in Newark, VT! Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

The river house is an off grid house/cabin on 20 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of protected national forest. It is a half mile hike-in or 4 wheel drive in up a logging road. It is very private, with running water and a shower and 1 1/2 bathrooms, a loft, 2 bedrooms and ping pong table. A stream runs through the property that has small swimming holes and larger swimming holes are just a short drive away. Hikes galore are just out the door, and many many more are just a short drive away.

The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.
