Weekend Trip to Forest Hut in Western Mass

3 nights at Riverfront Ritz Campsite

The site was amazing. It came with everything you need. Plenty of potable water, dishes, cups, cutlery, tables, chairs, solar lights, kayaks, etc. Granted we came with everything we would need but if you just brought food and yourselves you would be good. Site was great, 2 big heavy duty “tents” with a bed and plenty of room for our rotties bed as well. We came with one other couple and our dogs but can easily accommodate another couple. Great fire pit and a separate couch and eating area with picnic table. Waterfront Ritz is an accurate name. If you like fishing, morning 7-9a and night 6-8p was the best. We got 1 sunny, 3 big carp and my wife pulled in a nice size pike (no idea how). It’s extremely private and it has everything you need. If you happen to forget something, or run out of beer, the town is 5 minutes away. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay and look forward to visiting again. 10 out of 10.

Such a peaceful oasis close to Town. Falling asleep to the sound of the water was the best!

3 nights at Cozy Mountain Cabin

Standout cabin in the woods. Mattresses & pillows provided (we put our stuff overtop theirs). Luxury hotel-style fire pit set up -the best I’ve seen. Inside camp stove (for heat) is excellent & so easy to use. Fully built out and large outhouse. Gas stove (inside) & gas grill outside. Any comments you see about strangers driving by is because there are other cabins! Nothing to worry about. Nicely located for reasonable driving access to The Ledges & Rock River. Will stay again!

I loved this tiny cabin so much! It was so calm and beautiful. Pretty private, only downside is no bathroom and a little bit of spiders in the porta potty. Beautiful river that you can see from the cabin. The host is incredible and so nice!

The cabin was located in a beautiful spot! Our family absolutely loved camping here. There’s campsites around the property but we were the only ones out there during our stay so it was very quiet and close to a swimming hole. Stephanie was very helpful with anything we needed. Overall a great experience!

This was an extremely last minute booking and the host handled it perfectly. Literally booked at 7:30pm for that night and everything was perfect. A great quiet location along a nice stream was a excellent way to wake up. We will definitely be back someday hopefully with more time to explore the area!

The tiny cabin is in a beautiful spot, surrounded by trees and next to a river. It has everything you need for a really enjoyable stay. It’s also less than a mile from Poultney with pubs, restaurants and shops. Safe (because I know some folks worry about that, especially solo travelers like myself) and serene. Ty to Robbin who created a lovely space.

Weekend Trip to Bent Apple Farm

Beautiful mini home with plenty of great amenities (hot tub, sauna, fire pit, kitchen, showers). Home is in a private area with great view of the nearby mountains and Vermont nature. It was easy to find during our visit (June), and served as a great "home base" for nearby activities.

2 nights at Atland Artist Residency

Beautiful property. Quiet and peaceful. We stayed two nights in the tent, which was comfortable and all set up for us with clean bedding and flashlights. We enjoyed the hot outdoor shower, the very cold and drinkable water at the sink area. The best part (since we stayed during a heatwave) was the river at the end of their driveway which was so cool and peaceful. We enjoyed visiting Williamsburg and Northampton, which were not far. We loved staying here and love supporting their space for artists.

This cabin was well thought out. We had everything we needed to stay the night, get a fire going, etc. There were solar lights, there was heating, there was bug spray. So if we had forgotten anything, it would have been fine. There were also some games and things to do - it wasn't just a 'box' in the woods. I really appreciate the amount of communication from the host. It was evident that she wanted us to have a good time and enjoy our stay.

3 nights at Riverfront Ritz Campsite

So grateful for this stay in the woods! The place is as described and is rustic with thoughtful touchs. You really do want a 4x4 to get through the last leg of the trip down to camp. You would be fine in most cars to the spot near the outhouse (up a hill from camp) otherwise. There are two bathrooms, 1 with a camp bucket and compost bags - for numero uno. And 2 for, well- numero 2 which is away from the site. There is no electricity but rita provided tons of solar lighting and rechargeable battery banks in abundance. Very useful. She came by each day to check our potable water and trash. We cooked over the fire pit with grates and a camp stove. Water was "low" per rita but we wouldnt have known if she didnt point this out. We floated and swam quite a bit- the water is very clean. She also provided fish food to throw out am/pm which thr fishes really liked. We caught- and subsequently ate- a small mouth bass. Yum. A reminder you are outside like tent camping so there are some bugs, chipmunks, maybe a snake. But its nice to sleep on real beds and not have to set up a tent. ALSO- it is between two dams so you may hear the dam alarm go off when they release water. We will be back! 10000/10 for star gazing and 6 star review!

Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Cozy Mountain Cabin

Surrounded by hundreds of acres of national forest, campers can enjoy the sounds of a swift stream flowing nearby, birds chirping in trees, and the rustling of leaves and branches in the breeze. This mountainous area has a rich array of wildlife, meadows, trails, and only a few miles away from the Battenkill River, a tributary of the Hudson River of New York. As for the daily adventures, take a drive to surrounding ski resorts, including Bromley Mountain being just 15 miles from the property, where you can enjoy various activities year-round. Take a 10 minute drive to visit Mount Equinox Skyline drive where you’ll take in incredible views. Just past Mount Equinox is The Village of Manchester, which is home to the famed Equinox Resort and Spa. In Manchester, guests can enjoy everything from shopping & dining to outdoor classes for ATV driving and fly fishing!

Listen to the gentle brook and barred owls while nestled into the woods of Ashfield, MA on a small herbal homestead. The forest hut is a screened in platform that is lovely for camping on a warm summer's night. It has large windows and screens to keep out the bugs while enjoying a cool mountain breeze. There is a newly built composting toilet on site and small fire pit. This is not a cabin, no electricity, running water or plumbing. It is not well suited for winter camping unless you’re well equipped. BYO gear as there is not mattress or blankets in the shelter. We have a small farm store near the road filled with herbal teas, tinctures, gifts, chicken eggs, soaps, maple syrup and ghee. Wifi is available, but spotty - For cell service, the nearest spot is on route 112 near the school - Wood is provided and if you need more it's under the house deck. - Always put out fires completely with the blue containers of water located under the hut when going to sleep or leaving the site. Never leave fires unattended! - Quiet hours 9pm-8am - No parties or loud music -Pets must be on leash - Pack out all trash - Do not enter the residence - Sound may travel from the house (which is rented on Airbnb) to hut, heads up. - Call or message Hannah with any questions.
