Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Wonderfully warm and curated cozy cabin! It was a wet, chilly, late fall weekend and we were so comfortable in Robbin’s tiny house. Everything was just as described and we likewise had everything + more we needed. Really enjoyed the sound system and super appreciated the ample water provided. Love the added space of the lofted bed. The pull down ladder went with the overall fun, creative vibe of the spot. Would absolutely recommend and stay again!

Our group of Book Club friends had the most wonderful stay at Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. Mary is an exceptional host—warm, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in creating a magical experience for her guests. Thank you, Mary, for opening your beautiful space to us! One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the pizza oven. It was such a hit—easy to use, incredibly fun, and the perfect activity to bring everyone together. We made some truly delicious creations and shared plenty of laughs around it. We also loved the variety of sleeping options throughout the property. With so many different configurations, everyone in our group found a cozy, comfortable place to settle in. It made the whole weekend feel relaxed, flexible, and tailored to us. We’re already talking about coming back. Salamander Hollow is a gem!

We enjoyed the horse run in! The run in was clean and had everything we needed. Very much enjoyed the wood burning stove, hot tub, and fire pit. We found the dvd player, books, and record player charming. The farm is beautiful and we enjoyed the town of Londonderry. While the listed rules were a bit overwhelming, Ben and Loana were very kind and hospitable and easy to deal with (it was only surprising bc the rules had set a bit of a different tone). I would highly recommend.

This was the perfect “glamping” spot! Tara has the space supplied with everything you may need. We especially enjoyed cooking our dinner over the fire, and sleeping to the sounds of the wood stove burning at night. Be prepared for the sounds of wildlife (coyotes). We never encountered them and always felt safe, but could certainly hear them! We would definitely return to this spot.

I stayed in the island for four nights and had an incredible time. It is truly a magical spot. There is something special about paddling out and arriving on a small piece of ground where you are only one there - a sort of threshold. The house (while it is uninsulated and “rough” around the edges, “shack” does not do it justice) was clean, inviting, and thoughtfully stocked. I hope to return soon. And I definitely recommend!
