Weekend Trip to Glamp like a Champ

Fantastic getaway location from Dallas! Both of my young kids had a great time. Jeff was very kind and helpful. We loved exploring the property, using the boat, petting the goats, roasting marshmallows and watching the sun set and the stars come out. Strongly recommend!

I am not one with words, but if you read one review, read this one. We arrived and Rick was full of stories and information about the property. He took us to our site (4 wheel drive is a MUST!) which was amazing. He allowed us to rearrange the picnic table and fire ring to our liking. The next morning Rick set our eggs out that we purchased through him at 6am. We went fishing and caught four 2-2.8 pounders. It was amazing! That sunset I took the photography class presented by Rick. It was wonderful. Got a lot of information and he took me to some pretty spots I had not seen before. That evening it rained and stormed. Our tent collapsed and our gear was soaked. This was my first time camping, and because the amazing time Rick provided I am hooked!!!! The animals coming in to my camp was unforgettable and seeing my dogs swim in the ponds, those are memories I’ll never forget! Thank you Rick for having such a beautiful, well maintained and kept up property! Me and my family will be back!!!!

Weekend Trip to Treehouse on the Creek

Steve was great! It rained the day before we came and he took the time to let us know it probably wouldn’t be so comfortable with all the mud and accommodated us in the town near by until it dried overnight! He’s super friendly and we enjoyed our stay! The property is amazing is great for a get away!

2 nights at The PARK at Brushy Creek

We just took a camping trip at the Oak View tent at The Park, bushy creek during our daughters spring break. Unfortunately it was super windy the entire time we were there, but we still had a blast. The tent is super well kept, decore is great and air mattresses were great. The location is perfect in that it is far enough to get a good drive going from Dallas, but still within 10 minutes of a store. We definitely plan on going back in the future!

We absolutely loved everything about staying here! Jeff was a wonderful host!! He was so nice and helpful but not invasive at all!! He has thought of so many things big and small to help make your stay more enjoyable!! There is Heating/ AC, Wi-Fi, indoor sink to wash hands and brush teeth, outdoor shower, hammocks, a canoe and so much more..the grass is even green and beautiful all around the campsite. We are already telling all our friends about this place !!!!

Such a great spot so close to Dallas! Nice spread out campsites, plenty of space to explore and search for the horses. Our daughters loved the horses and especially Willie the mule - they are all friendly and we had no worries about safety when around the horses/mules/donkeys. Rick is super nice and helpful and made us feel welcome and comfortable on his land. Would love to come back!

Weekend Trip to Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

Nice place. April was very accommodating. There was too much wind to say in the Teepee. We camped in tents. There was too much wind to use the water, we flew kites. We had a great time, but we were very flexible. Keep an open mind and you'll have fun, too!

We had a fantastic experience!! Beautiful land, adorable animals and tent. We had a great time walking down to the creek, and feeding the pigs!! The goats were so fun to see. The tent was very clean and had all of the amenities pictured (even the S'mores bucket!!). I will absolutely be coming back here to stay. Thank you for everything!

Weekend Trip to 4G Ranch at Tipps Lake

The campsite and view was gorgeous in late winter. It was nice to have so much green grass for the dogs to roam around on and thankfully no other guests came to the other sites so we had plenty of space all to ourselves. One thing that I wish was more clear in the listing was how residential it is. The houses/farms are pretty far off, but you do hear lots of barking dogs, car noise, etc. It's not terrible, but not good if you're a light sleeper or are wanting to be a bit more remote. Overall however, it's a nice getaway that's an easy drive from DFW and the view of the pond from the hillside is very picturesque.

Excellent host with great communication! The pond was so peaceful and pretty. Easy to get to. Close to metroplex, but you feel like you’re hours away because of how quiet it is. Great accommodations with a bathroom available near the campsite, a little goody bag, firewood with a starter log and much more. Book now! You won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait to go back!

4 nights at A Little Piece of Paradise

This little slice of heaven was fantastic! The tub and the shower were an out-of-body experience. The kitchen was well stocked and everything worked! We enjoyed daily walks around the acreage, including the pier over the pond with the glass bottom and the sweet ponies who loved pets. The floor in the cabin was astounding. Many various materials and colors are beautifully patchworked around the entire cabin. It does make it inaccessible for people with mobility issues (but there aren’t any accessible entrances to the cabin either). Gilberto responded quickly and worked hard to make the space very welcoming. We will definitely be back and have already suggested it to several friends.

Once again Jeff you did it again! Me and my girlfriend friend brought our dog to hang out at the camp grounds and we had a great time. We booked before in the past and we were pleasantly surprised to see not only the updates made to the accommodations but also the same 5 star guest experience that made us book last time. With our visit being in the 20 degrees weather, Jeff made sure the propane tanks were ready, the firewood was on stand by and we had enough blankets and heaters. And honestly me and my girlfriend at times we too hot, which is no complaints what so ever. Really enjoyed staying Jeff, and will definitely be visiting again...again!😁

Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.

Double D Ranch Guest Cottage

Learn more about this land: We hope you find everything you need for your home away from home stay. The WIFI password is listed in the cabin and the gate code and house code will be given to upon confirmation of your booking. Once inside you will find remotes for AC/HEATER, TV, and small fireplace...remotes are in a metal container to the left of the sofa sleeper. The bedding for the twin sleeper is in a bin under the queen bed along with additional towels in the bottom drawer of the dresser. The dresser is labeled with additional supplies. The cottage is stocked with snacks, water, coffee, toiletries and complimentary wine. There is a first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the bathroom. There is a can outside in the front to the right of the door that has snacks for the cows. You are welcome to go into the pasture where the cows visit but please only feed on this side of the fence, not inside the pasture. You may roam the 8 acres but our property line ends halfway of the pond. There will be an open gate for cows to visit to and from, but on the other side of the gate is not our property. You have access to the dock and fit pit with wood and starter. Please enjoy! You may fish if you like and will need your own fishing gear. Includes use of Barndo for pulling in RV or for covered event pavillion. Electricity is included These are three of the best day trips you can go on from Kaufman. 1. Lake Tawakoni State Park Known for featuring one of the largest spiderwebs ever recorded in the United States, Lake Tawakoni State Park is a popular destination for residents from Kaufman and other cities in the area. Covering a surface area of a little under 380 acres, this state park features a 38,000-acre reservoir where visitors can practice a vast array of water sports and recreational activities including boat and pier fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing. Lake Tawakoni State Park is located about 30 miles northeast of downtown Kaufman and can be reached in less than 40 minutes by car along routes US-80 and FM-2728. Visitors are required to pay a $5 daily usage fee, while those aged 12 or under can access free of charge. Open year-round between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., this park is also a popular spot for hikers and mountain bikers, featuring an extensive network of multi-use trails. 2. Dallas If you are looking for an urban destination where you can check out museums, landmark buildings, and historical sites, Dallas is the place to be. Getting from Kaufman to downtown Dallas takes a little over half an hour by car, heading northwest along route US-175.
