Some of the forest burned down in the great Bastrop wildfire in 2011, but it has grown back.

This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping.

The campground's name pays homage to the Coushatte Indians, and visitors can explore an Indian Mound on the property, where numerous arrowheads have been discovered.

Super cute little fishing cabin that was stocked with everything we needed for a small thanksgiving celebration with our adult kids and pets. We enjoyed fishing at the lake just around the corner. Our only drawback was the burn ban that prohibited s'mores over the fire pit each night, but we can only blame the Texas weather for that. We had a great stay and would come back again. Thank you Joy!

This place is awesome. The interior is like a luxury cabin with all the amenities and comforts you have at home. Excellent air conditioning, amazing waterfall shower, WiFi, and so many other great features to the cabin make it the best cabin we have ever stayed at.
The host Tanya was friendly and had very fast responses to any questions. The location is in an RV park that has charcoal grills, players for the little ones, and great open areas to run with the kids or dogs. It was extremely quiet in regards to neighbors. There are some animal noises from geese and a few dogs but we felt that added to the country feel.
A mile or so down the road is one of the best lakes in Texas and since it’s a state park it’s extremely safe and a pristine environment.
A few minutes down the road in the opposite direction is a Dollar General for all the items you forgot or want some extra snack or drink.
We will absolutely be coming back in the near future.

Craig was a fantastic host, and his assistant Matt was so kind and helpful! We really enjoyed the property, it was breathtaking with all the pine trees around! The fact that my dog was allowed to roam and explore really took the stress of keeping her leashed off me so I could finally relax as well….probably the best thing about the trip! The private bathroom and shower were also a plus! 10 out of 10! Thanks Craig and Matt!

We were lucky to find this site! We needed a last minute camping site for our family reunion at the state park and crossed our fingers that we would get a good one. Craig was a great host, gave us a tour of the property when we arrived, and even swapped us to a better site for our tents last minute. The bathroom and shower were clean and functional and the property is wooded and hilly and picturesque. There is definitely some highway noise early in the evening (being pretty close to 71 we weren’t surprised), but it quieted down as it got later and we could hear owls and coyotes and other wildlife. We would definitely book again.

Weekend Trip to The Reserve at GreenLeaf
We had such a wonderful time. Our hosts greeted us for a short intro to the place which was nice. I got some pointers on how to use a French Coffee press (you'll see) and we got the lay of the land. There are walking trails, a community fire pit (there are only 4 yurts), a pavilion with Corn Hole type games and a hot tub (didn't try it out). It was extremely peaceful and calm. A great place to forget about things for a couple of days. Also, Bastrop has a nice downtown area. We ate at Neighbors (?) downtown and enjoyed sitting on the patio by the river.

2 nights at RV Parking
Great place to stay! It was super close to the state parks and a comfortable RV. The lake is only a short hike away, and provides a pretty good view.

Weekend Trip to RV Parking
Loved the privacy of the RV area and the woods were beautiful. Older trailer with a lot of love put into it, the window unit was a trouper and it was pretty comfortable once it got going. The area surrounding was very comfortable to walk around, the paths were very state-park-esque, and it was a really nice surprise to find a seating area in the woods. It was a bit of a bummer that it took all night for the fridge to get cold enough to cool our drinks, and that the lake was right in front of the house. Overall, it was a great stay and would love to stay again!

Beautiful spot nestled in the pines! We loved staying at Craig’s place. Great accessibility for bikers and park goers, and a wonderful place to start our ride to Buescher SP.
Our only regret is not going for a swim!

Craig It has everything you need to make your experience a good one. There was a hose for us and the bathrooms were clean! Hot water and a good host. It was an excellent weekend; nothing to regret.

My friends and I had a great time tent camping on this beautiful property. The owner was very nice, and he will show you around upon arrival. You will never be bothered by anyone camping here, but its worth noting the owner lives about 100 yards from the campsite. The nearby state parks are also wonderful.

Conveniently located for Bastrop and the areas east of Austin. Private tent campsite with beautiful surroundings and good amenities. Perfect spot for a fire if the weather--and burn bans--permits. Great view of the night sky surrounded by woods. The parking spot is not level and is short, but the owner is in the process of extending the concrete pad. The site is essentially a few blocks from the highway, so road noise is prominent and consistent, although not jarring.
