Much of the camping here is still a work in progress! So for now, a very private economical choice for campers! The central building has indoor lodging available and the side bathroom with indoor toilet / washer / dryer may be used by campers as well. A new outdoor shower is 95% complete and usable but swimwear is required because we have not finished filling in the slots between the wood fence panels.
The RV Dump station is also ready for use as well as the new outhouse! If you forgot to dump on the way out or need to before arriving, please use the free dump stations on I-35 near Natalia on either side of the highway.

Easy access spots, small ghost town to check out and take photos if you would like. Only a minute from town. 50 amp hookups. Water and restroom in the ghost town. Washer and dryer in restroom. I stumbled across this awesome place just before covid shut us all down. It was hidden in the middle of overgrown brush and not visible from the street. That didn't matter, it was love at first sight! We tried to come on the weekends and work on clearing but it wasn't enough so we moved out here last year and have made it not only a home but a fun place to live and share with others.

Easy access spots, small ghost town to check out and take photos if you would like. Only a minute from town. 50 amp hookups. Water and restroom in the ghost town. Washer and dryer in restroom. I stumbled across this awesome place just before covid shut us all down. It was hidden in the middle of overgrown brush and not visible from the street. That didn't matter, it was love at first sight! We tried to come on the weekends and work on clearing but it wasn't enough so we moved out here last year and have made it not only a home but a fun place to live and share with others.

Please use local wood and confirm with Edwards County as to whether there is a fire ban or not. You have your private patio overlooking the river and there is a firepit there, River Cliff Trail. You have your private designated area, but there could be guest at the cottage and the river is not private. Please respect the neighbors by observing quite times from 10 pm - 10 am. Also, the river is yours to roam, but venturing very far off the river might be trespassing, unless of course, you are on the Labyrinth. You do not have access to the cottage yard area.

This campground is so well set up, it's really easy to find your spot, especially with each one having a LOTR character assigned to it, a lit number sign, and lights separating the campsites.
You have ample space in the spot itself, with your own water spigot. Thoughtful to have multiple bathroom options and even the porta-potty was intentional with an automatic light and hands free sink. It's right off a main road but also in the country at the same time, very minimal traffic noises and I was near the entrance. Definitely would stay here again!

Micheal is incredibly cool and his property is just perfect. Waking up to horses and not being bothered the entire week was priceless. Michael is incredibly responsive and accommodating and I will absolutely come back. I camped primitively but accomodations such as shower, toilet and free laundry are available 24/7. Firewood and essentials are available, just ask. Everfree Shire is in my opinion perfect. Give it a try!! You can't find better at Mike's rates

Leann's land is in a remote, beautiful part of Hill Country --we were the only people camping on the property so it was extra quiet and peaceful. My 9 year old roamed the property with his trusty map and felt like a true explorer. The campground is close to Garner State Park and about a half hour from Lost Maples.

This ranch is in an absolutely beautiful location. We visited over the Halloween weekend with the native fall grasses in full beauty. At night we sat, had some wine, looked at the stars, counted satellites as they passed over and listened to the coyotes off in the distance. This is a great location to slow down and just get away.

Wilson was the best host! Drove me and my son out to the main campsite while pointing out each stop along the way including the swimming hole, 2 bar hill incase we need service and told us we could explore anything else. Found a really cool spot on a ridge to camp for the night with amazing views of the sunset and sunrise. Don’t hesitate to book with Wilson he is very accommodating and was cool to hear he’s a 5th generation rancher and the family has been there since the 1800’s! We will definitely be back!

Carlos was an exceptional Host, I recommend getting In touch with him before booking because their live site doesn’t sync with hip camp so you run the risk of their not being availability. With that being said I reached Carlos before booking and he accommodated me last minute and was extremely attentive and helpful throughout the stay. Not to mention the included river access was a huge benefit and we enjoyed every minute of our stay!!

I loved camping on Michael's land, and would return! When we got here, our site was flooded so he allowed us to use another site temporarily while he had mulch and a drain put in so the site could be used even wet. Then, we quickly realized we had no shade and this site wouldn't work, so he let us switch to yet another site that wasn't booked to make our stay much better!! Mike is very accomodating and all around fantastic host! We moved to site 22, Smaugs site right next to the horses, which was definitely a highlight! Mike also provided DE for the ants in the site, and always asking everyone if they needed anything from town. Everyone there is so warm, friendly and welcoming. Truly great people here! The road noise is obnoxious but the host has no control over it, and most nights it's very quiet. The stargazing is OUT of this world, and the nearby small towns are full of kind people. We truly enjoyed our stay of 6 weeks at the shire, even got a chance to watch all extended edition LOTR movies and made memories with my kids. 10/10 would highly recommend this hidden gem!
