- When you camp with us you are welcome to explore and play on the entire property! We have 55 acres of trails and woods to explore! Please bring your bikes, trail shoes, or whatever helps you have fun in the wild!

We have so many trees! All of our sites are hammock-friendly.
- When you check-in, just text us, your host will help you find your campsite.
- Some sites are drive-in where your vehicle can park right next to the fire. Others are walk-in and require a short hike of 100' or less from your parking space. You can indicate your preference during booking or at check-in.

Campsites 2, 3, 6, and 12 are the sites you want.
Some of our campsites are more secluded than others and offer extreme privacy in the most beautiful settings we have to offer. If you're looking for a wilder campsite surrounded by huge old trees and all the peace the woods have to offer, just request Campsites 4, 5, 7, or 8. Each of these sites requires a walk of at least 50' from your vehicle to the fire ring.
Site 13 is only for backpackers or people willing to hike about 500 yards to the campsite over rough terrain. There is no way to drive to it or even get close except on foot. But it is spectacular and beautiful!
Only three sites can accommodate a smaller trailer or camper. Site 1, Site 2, and site 6. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you.
We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind in your site you will be billed for the cleanup. We have a dumpster located near the front gate. Please use it and put all your trash in there.
Heads-up! We have a small farm on the property.
Dogs are always welcome and we LOVE our furry friends! For their safety and the safety of our livestock please keep them leashed while on property.

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. Come for the day or stay the night for some primitive camping. We've got plenty of room for tents, roof-top-tent setups or car/van dry-camping.
We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.
Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. Our slice of land on the Medina River is truly gorgeous! There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. If relaxing in the shade by the river and dipping your feet in is your thing, our property is perfect for that! However, this is not a swimming hole. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

Our Heritage and Legacy is a beautiful shaded lawn under a canopy of old oaks that are a few hundred years old and pecan trees. There is a huge privacy wall of bamboo that gives you a sense of absolute privacy, with a cliff on the opposing side to encase you and your loved ones in this majestic retreat. There is also a pull up/ hook up area for travel trailers and smaller rv's with a 30 amp plug in and a 50 amp plug in. This is on a gorgeous area on the deepest swimming hole of the Blanco River in Wimberley, Texas! OH, and the entire Blanco River in Wimberley is private! There is no river accessible camping available to the public, anywhere in Wimberley! Has two beautiful docks on the water: one is perfect for morning coffee, wine sipping, fishing, meditating, yoga, with an adjacent access ladder and steps to get in and out of the water, the other has a large bench, steps to the water for entering with water toys, etc, and a rope swing! This property includes a cliff to climb with ropes installed and amazing views of the Blanco river valley east and west from the top! Water toys are available for rent and use as desired/needed (the reservations for such need to be made in advance/or at time of check in, to have available for your use) : 3 additional kayaks($40/day), 4 tubes($9/day), a SUP ($45/day), along with two other beanbag type chair floats($15/day)-. You may either rent through Hipcamp, in advance, or on site at check in. There are electrical hookups for rv's/travel trailers (one 20 amp and one 50 amp)- however, all campers whether tent, RV's/Travel trailers will need to bring in your own water supply for your general use, please. (The property is on a rain water collection/purification system, and has very limited water for the overall property use-to have water trucked in to refill the tank is quite expensive. Campers may NOT use the water supply connected to the house- please respect.) You will have absolute privacy on these 3 acres, with no neighbors, beyond those folks who live across the river on their large pieces of land! The rate is $220/night for up to 4 campers, unless specified otherwise due to a holiday, and each additional camper beyond, $30/pp. This property is not appropriate for children under 12 because of safety concerns with the cliff, the river and the road bisecting the property that leads to the river. No children under 12 allowed. I am quite firm about this, and I apologize in advance. What makes it an amazing property, a destination for camping and exploring, also makes it a safety risk for younger children. There is an antique fireplace that is from the origins of the property over a century ago on the large outdoor patio and a huge fire pit on the cliff top. Bundles of wood are available to purchase at $9 each. Please DO NOT help yourself to our wood piles, we had to pay someone to cut and stack it all- it is not free. We are happy to stock each firepit area with bundles of wood, per your request. You may also purchase a fire starter stick for $8/each. (I did previously supply those, but they kept walking off at the end of each groups stay- thank you for understanding). There is also a full size refrigerator and freezer available for your use during your stay. The overall vibe is absolute peace, serenity, calm, and relaxation. In the evenings, if you are calm, still and quiet- foxes, and raccoons shall run all around your area, and the foxes are known to eat from your hands. It is simply the best of nature, being there! The famous Blue Hole and Jacobs Well swimming holes along with their respective hiking trails and parks are minutes away, along with the highly regarded Wimberley Zipline being just 5 minutes down the road, too! DO note, to swim at Jacob's Well, Blue Hole or partake in the Zipline experience requires advance online reservations. (there is a secret to getting into the Jacob's Well if you were not able to get reservations, make sure to ask me about, if interested! it has previously always worked for me!) To hike the trails in either the Jacobs Well County Park, Mount Baldy, or The Blue Hole Regional park does not require reservations! Have I mentioned the famous Wimberley Glass Works- just a 15 minute drive away! Bring your lawn games, your corn hole, and relax on the sprawling lush zoysia lawn under the evening twinkling lights strung from the oak trees that are hundreds of years old. The best restaurants are 4-10 minutes away and many wineries, breweries, and distilleries around are also nearby within the community and surrounding area- Wimberley is a destination tourist town and a culinary journey with fantastic shopping, too!! Fantastic bonus to add to a gorgeous location to enjoy in your little slice of heaven, peace and privacy. Least we not forget, Market Days! The first Saturday of each month, March through December is the famous Market Days. Vendors from all over the state and US come to sell their wares. Over 500 booths!

The stocked river is teeming with largemouth and Guadalupe bass, catfish, sunfish, and rainbow trout, and can be an excellent place for beginning anglers (you can even borrow equipment for free).
Pedernales Falls State Park is only 35 miles away.
Swimming at holes, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and birding are a few of the quintessential outdoor Texan activities visitors enjoy most at Pedernales State Park, located near the area of Texas Hill Country where former President Lyndon B. Johnson grew up. Next to the famed Pedernales River, the park is an hour west of Austin, an hour east of Fredericksburg, and about 20 minutes from downtown Johnson City. Wineries and distilleries are a short drive away in nearby Dripping Springs and Stonewall.

Each of these sites requires a walk of at least 50' from your vehicle to the fire ring.
Site 13 is only for backpackers or people willing to hike about 500 yards to the campsite over rough terrain. There is no way to drive to it or even get close except on foot. But it is spectacular and beautiful!
Only three sites can accommodate a smaller trailer or camper. Site 1, Site 2, and site 6. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you.
We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind in your site you will be billed for the cleanup. We have a dumpster located near the front gate. Please use it and put all your trash in there.
Heads-up! We have a small farm on the property.
Dogs are always welcome and we LOVE our furry friends! For their safety and the safety of our livestock please keep them leashed while on property.

They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

Our Heritage and Legacy is a beautiful shaded lawn under a canopy of old oaks that are a few hundred years old and pecan trees. There is a huge privacy wall of bamboo that gives you a sense of absolute privacy, with a cliff on the opposing side to encase you and your loved ones in this majestic retreat. There is also a pull up/ hook up area for travel trailers and smaller rv's with a 30 amp plug in and a 50 amp plug in. This is on a gorgeous area on the deepest swimming hole of the Blanco River in Wimberley, Texas! OH, and the entire Blanco River in Wimberley is private! There is no river accessible camping available to the public, anywhere in Wimberley! Has two beautiful docks on the water: one is perfect for morning coffee, wine sipping, fishing, meditating, yoga, with an adjacent access ladder and steps to get in and out of the water, the other has a large bench, steps to the water for entering with water toys, etc, and a rope swing! This property includes a cliff to climb with ropes installed and amazing views of the Blanco river valley east and west from the top! Water toys are available for rent and use as desired/needed (the reservations for such need to be made in advance/or at time of check in, to have available for your use) : 3 additional kayaks($40/day), 4 tubes($9/day), a SUP ($45/day), along with two other beanbag type chair floats($15/day)-. You may either rent through Hipcamp, in advance, or on site at check in. There are electrical hookups for rv's/travel trailers (one 20 amp and one 50 amp)- however, all campers whether tent, RV's/Travel trailers will need to bring in your own water supply for your general use, please. (The property is on a rain water collection/purification system, and has very limited water for the overall property use-to have water trucked in to refill the tank is quite expensive. Campers may NOT use the water supply connected to the house- please respect.) You will have absolute privacy on these 3 acres, with no neighbors, beyond those folks who live across the river on their large pieces of land! The rate is $220/night for up to 4 campers, unless specified otherwise due to a holiday, and each additional camper beyond, $30/pp. This property is not appropriate for children under 12 because of safety concerns with the cliff, the river and the road bisecting the property that leads to the river. No children under 12 allowed. I am quite firm about this, and I apologize in advance. What makes it an amazing property, a destination for camping and exploring, also makes it a safety risk for younger children. There is an antique fireplace that is from the origins of the property over a century ago on the large outdoor patio and a huge fire pit on the cliff top. Bundles of wood are available to purchase at $9 each. Please DO NOT help yourself to our wood piles, we had to pay someone to cut and stack it all- it is not free. We are happy to stock each firepit area with bundles of wood, per your request. You may also purchase a fire starter stick for $8/each. (I did previously supply those, but they kept walking off at the end of each groups stay- thank you for understanding). There is also a full size refrigerator and freezer available for your use during your stay. The overall vibe is absolute peace, serenity, calm, and relaxation. In the evenings, if you are calm, still and quiet- foxes, and raccoons shall run all around your area, and the foxes are known to eat from your hands. It is simply the best of nature, being there! The famous Blue Hole and Jacobs Well swimming holes along with their respective hiking trails and parks are minutes away, along with the highly regarded Wimberley Zipline being just 5 minutes down the road, too! DO note, to swim at Jacob's Well, Blue Hole or partake in the Zipline experience requires advance online reservations. (there is a secret to getting into the Jacob's Well if you were not able to get reservations, make sure to ask me about, if interested! it has previously always worked for me!) To hike the trails in either the Jacobs Well County Park, Mount Baldy, or The Blue Hole Regional park does not require reservations! Have I mentioned the famous Wimberley Glass Works- just a 15 minute drive away! Bring your lawn games, your corn hole, and relax on the sprawling lush zoysia lawn under the evening twinkling lights strung from the oak trees that are hundreds of years old. Johnson grew up. Next to the famed Pedernales River, the park is an hour west of Austin, an hour east of Fredericksburg, and about 20 minutes from downtown Johnson City. Wineries and distilleries are a short drive away in nearby Dripping Springs and Stonewall.

4 dispersed tent campsites are located on a large gravel bar facing a beautiful private waterfall. Camping is pack-in, pack-out from the parking lot (approx. 50yds). No overlanding rigs, pop-ups, RVs or rooftop car camping. Vehicles are not allowed at campsites. No pets.
When booking, select any of the 4 sites. Sites are first come, first serve.
Campsite includes: use of kayaks and paddleboards, unlimited river access, picnic table, semi-private communal outdoor shower with hot and cold water and a clean outdoor port-a-potty that is regularly sanitized.
No composting and/or personal toilets allowed. Please only use the restroom in the portalet provided.
*Feel free to BYO wagon to haul gear to site!
🔌Electricity is available from dusk to dawn. A 50ft-100ft extension cord is required for electrical access to your site from dusk to dawn (extension cords not provided).
*Portable small generators/ Power banks are recommended for electricity at site during the day.

*Tubes/floats are recommended for below the dam. (floats/tubes not provided).
*Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings ONLY. Campers are responsible for monitoring/extinguishing fires. Do not cut any trees/limbs on property. Firewood bundles available.
*Metal grate is recommended for cooking on fire ring.
*Climbing on the dam structure is strictly prohibited.
*ALL campers/guests on the property must arrive BEFORE dark to check-in, sign a Release of Liability Waiver AND pick-up wristband.
*All children ages 6+ MUST be included in your reservation under "Children."

**Park your vehicle in the front designated area in reverse, explore and pitch your tent ⛺️ in your favorite spot.
**One vehicle per campsite, there is an extra fee per extra vehicle(s) whether you're traveling solo, with family, friends or your partner, make yourself at home in one of the designated Hipcamp areas.
**We provide a communal fire pit/grill area, and you can also bring your own grill. Remember to bring your own grilling utensils. (If Hays County does not have a burn ban in place, feel free to use the fire pit. IF FIRE LIT, AN ADULT MUST BE PRESENT).
**We offer a communal restroom with a hot shower and flushing toilet. There is a sink outside the bathroom to wash your dishes (please use eco-friendly dishwashing liquid), or to fetch water for coffee. This is well water and believe us, it is cool, refreshing and great tasting!
**You can also walk, jog or ride your bike down the street thru the winding hill all the way to the cul-de-sac.
Owl Hollow is in the middle of Texas Hill Country, you make the choice how relaxing or busy you want to be during your stay with us.
**One of your many choices is to go swimming or float the Lazy San Marcos River at Rio Vista Park which is 7.6 miles.
Owl Hollow is conveniently located:
40 miles from Austin TX, while San Antonio is 55 miles away. Texas State University is 7 miles near. Hiking nearby at Purgatory Creek Natural Area and Spring Lake Preserve.
**On Saturdays between 8:30-12:30 there's the farmers market downtown at the Plaza.

We enjoyed camping at site #2, along the Medina River. The stars were bright and we could hear the river. The shower and restrooms were clean. Valerie, one of the hosts, was very welcoming and friendly.
My only issue was this one mocking bird who woke us up each day…we think they either thought our car was a bird feeder or that their reflection was a possible mate. They attacked the side of my car over and over, until we put a towel are that part of the car. Aside from the bird, a very peaceful stay.

Incredible piece of property just outside downtown Blanco, but far enough away to feel like you’re truly alone. William was an awesome host and very responsive to all our questions. The property, camp site and restroom were clean and easy to find. Easy hikes and we didn’t even get to see all the property! We will absolutely Be back to enjoy all that Williams property has to offer. The only thing I could ask for would be a proper picnic table in the oak grove instead of the small metal table, but we made it work. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this site, or any of the others in the future! We will be back!

I have camped at this property before but always at the Live Oak Vista. This was my first time camping at the hill side live oak Grove, and I loved it! The views were amazing, and it felt very private. The site itself was so sprawled out, and just overall a perfect campsite. I also feel like I heard and saw more wildlife at this location which I loved. i will always keep coming back to this property, I have camped at several other hipcamps and this one is still my favorite. Also Blanco is my favorite Texas town.

Great spot with awesome view. Very relaxing. Lots of deer. Coyotes howling in the distance. Was worried we wouldn’t make it up the short drive pulling a small high clearance camper due to one small section, but after a few attempts was able to make it with a Subaru. Will be back for sure. It’s also close to town if you want to run out.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening under the stars! Tony was so easy to chat with and gave us all the information we needed! This spot is definitely primitive and isnt for everyone! We were welcomed by a free roaming cow and lots of armadillo! The sunset was absolutely gorgeous. We loved that we could hang up our hammock and start a campfire. Theres definitely things that could be done to be more accommodating but we liked the primitive aspects for sure.

This Hipcamp spot is hands down one of the best we’ve stayed at. The property is massive (around 1100 acres), which makes it perfect for overlanders who want space, privacy, and the freedom to truly choose their own camp spot. There are plenty of trails to explore, and the terrain keeps things interesting without feeling crowded or restricted.
Warren, the host, was outstanding. He checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was also incredibly kind with our kids and even let them play together, which made the experience feel more like visiting friends than just camping.
If you’re into overlanding, off-grid camping, or just want a wide-open Texas camping experience, this place is hard to beat. Easily one of the best spots in Texas and we’ll definitely be back.

Campsite is very secluded with an abundance of trees and open sky, ideal for stargazing! The complementary firewood is a huge plus and burned for hours into the night. There’s plenty of land for your pup or kiddos to explore. Cows approached within a few feet of us, such a pleasant surprise! The bike trail and river are only about 2 miles away and a great way to spend some of your day. Even with the rain, we enjoyed our stay, campsite is pup approved!

This was my second time staying here and it did not disappoint. It even got better! There is a new bathroom ‘bivvy’ near the riverside campsites that made those late night/ early morning nature calls way easier to handle with no hill to climb.
The owners were fantastic once again and I really valued their site manager, Valerie. She provided excellent customer support and had our firewood already at our campsite so we didn’t need to haul it down.
This past weekend was very relaxing and peaceful. Will come back again. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Campsite 5 at Lost Woods and had a great experience overall. It rained the first 2–3 hours after we arrived, but we were able to get our tent set up just in time and waited it out.
The site included a picnic table, a campfire setup, two chairs, and a small grill, which made things really convenient. There were also a few little paths toward the back of the campsite that our little furbabies had fun exploring. It was pretty secluded and private, which we appreciated.
You can hear some traffic at night, but it didn’t ruin the experience for us. We had a good time and would definitely stay here again.

The Best Dam Spot was truly a unique spot. The white noise of the water fall was soothing to fall asleep to (at the closer camp spots.) There were other camp sites nearby, but not loud enough to bother. The water was nice and clear that you even get to see some swim fish by! The kayaks seemed fun to use (unfortunately didn't get to use em') but saw plenty of other people try em' out. Fishing there was my main reason of going and my fiance and I were not disappointed. Overall great spot to camp and will be coming back in the Spring to enjoy the water in hotter weather!

What a cool place! A historic site with a lot of character. It was actually accidentally listed when it wasn't open but the host very. Kindly let me camp there anyway! I'm very grateful and I loved having the place to myself, especially with all the history and old buildings. I didn't realize how close to the road it is so you can hear cars on that main highway. But it was also still winter and there weren't any leaves on the trees. So I'm sure that helps dampen the noise when the foliage is full. And it still didn't take away from the camping experience. Eventually I'd like to go back and spend time on the river. Thanks again to the hosts, would definitely recommend and the stargazing was awesome!!!

Site 6 was tucked into a lovely tree lined thicket. And all was peaceful quiet. The dirt road going to the site was one on which to go slow with a trailer in tow. We’d go again to site 6.
