I loved staying at tent site B. It was easy to find, had a raised mulch pad for the tent, a couple of chairs, firepit, and grill. It was a short walk to the bathrooms/showers along a mulch path. Will definitely stay again when we come back to explore more.

Weekend Trip to Longhorn Getaway Campgrounds

Camp ground was very convenient for our family of 5. Kids range from 7-5 and they had a blast. The loved the swing tree, donkey, longhorns, and building a camp fire. The shower water was hot and the restroom was primitive, but clean and taken care of. Since this was our first time tent camping as a family I didn’t want to go far from home… we live in Drip and didn’t realize this place existed. We will absolutely be back in the future! Thank you!!

1 night at The Charmadillo: Glamping Resort

I can’t say enough good things! The coffee, the tea, the views, the robes, the cozy bed. There was nothing that wasn’t intentional and cared for about this stay. It’s private and remote, but well lit and simple to navigate. There’s much to do in the surrounding areas, such as great breakfast in Camp Verde and amazing steaks and specialty stores in Bandera, Texas Salt Co. was our favorite! I told about 5 people back home how awesome our stay at Charmadillo was, and I hope more people find this gem!

Weekend Trip to Wildflower Getaway

Amazing experience! This is a very family friendly camp site. We camped in a tent and the spot they set us up with was really nice, near the outdoor shower, outhouse, and a hammock with a string of lights hung through the trees. There are horses and ponies and goats that roam the property and come say hi and there’s some playground equipment for little kids to play on. The property is fenced in and it felt very safe to let my kids run around. It’s owned by a very sweet family, who maintain their land really well. As a member of the LGBTQ community, it’s often difficult to find places that I can feel safe out in nature with my kids and they were very accepting of my family and I. If you’re looking for a fun, quiet, family friendly spot to camp, I highly recommend staying here.

No frills car camping, highly recommended! John’s land is beautiful and has many sites to choose from with flat places for tents, fire ring, tables and chairs. John is friendly and so are his dogs. He’s done a lot of DIY projects like an outdoor shower, bucket flush toilet, disc golf holes (bring your own discs) and has a few campers, a dump truck and other equipment on site that might not feel like pure nature but it didn’t bother me. If you want a true “pristine natural area” look elsewhere but for weekend car campers it’s a great place. Firewood available on site. 15 mins from downtown.

Very well maintained and friendly atmosphere. The communal area came in clutch. Coffee in the morning gives you a brief chance to be social with other campers. The primitive sites are very secluded with the cedar trees surrounding them. Site H is by far the best. Your back is to to a fence and there is a trail connecting to the next site over for a bigger group. Road to the sites is a little rough but it adds to the experience. Overall it’s a great place and definitely worth a return visit.

Weekend Trip to Dot's Spots

We had a great experience at Dot’s Spots! Host was so accommodating for our late night arrival and adjusted our booking to a site that wasn’t as impacted by mud after some rainy weather came through. The location was also terrific as it was close to Pedernales Falls State Park and Wimberly, both which we easily explored in a day. It was the perfect first camping trip with our 18 month old! 10/10 would recommend!

We loved tent camping at the Charmadillo! The peacefulness and amenities were incredible. Pro tip: opt for the google maps directions—Apple Maps took us 30 minutes out of the way originally. Would definitely return and recommend!

Weekend Trip to Orrasis Ranch

I LOVED the Bait House! It was just the right size for a getaway with myself and my dog. I think 2 adults max would be comfortable here. It had everything I needed and more. The outdoor shower was a delightful experience. The only downside for me was they have chickens and roosters on the property and I was awoken by the cock-a-doodle-do before dawn every morning. The house was is located near a few parks so we were able to enjoy hiking within 10 minutes from the property. Downtown Marble Falls is also about 10 min away if you want local dining experiences, which I did grab takeout from 2 different restaurants while I was there. Overall it was a nice little getaway and great location!

I loved the tent areas, they also have cabins and a tipi ⛺️ . It was nice view and the amenities were a great addition to have from the fully equipped kitchen to the pool. I didn’t have a chance to get in the sauna but it’s okay we were there to connect with nature we also saw an armadillo a couple feet’s away.

We loved exploring Llano and the surrounding areas by way of the beautiful winding hill country roads. It was a camping trip we will not soon forget!! The hosts were very helpful. Highly recommend!

Located closer to the entrance of our property, farther from the common areas. Adirondack chairs and a hammock area is just out back (lakeside). - The Grand Tesoro: Private hill country view across the properties ravine. Located closest to the bathhouse, very central on our property. Also near the common areas. A private chiminea fire area under a grove of trees is nearby. The price for Grand tents is based on double or triple occupancy. A fourth guest is welcome for an additional fee ($50/nt), which you’ll see at booking. The Mini Aztec: Located between the Grand Aztec and Grand Arrow tents, with a private view of the lake and hills, and a private chiminea area. For younger children (age 8+) who want to sleep in the mini tent, we recommend the Grand Arrow for the parents because the mini is within view of the Grand Arrow porch. The Grand Tents have a maximum occupancy of 3 guests. We may allow for a fourth guest upon request for an additional fee ($50/nt). French Connection Wines is right next door and the renowned William Chris Vineyards is just 1 mile away. Not to be missed is the Garrison Brother's Bourbon Distillery, less than a mile down the street – you could even walk to all three! Our property features a shared, covered outdoor patio with a games court for corn hole, checkers, and bocce (checkers, boards and balls provided), gas fire pit, and a gas grill for those cooler nights. The patio is lighted with cafe lights. One of the RV slips is covered, while the other is nestled under a charming burr oak tree. On-site, we also offer a rental cabin. The covered RV slip is equipped with 30 and 50 amps, the other hookup is 50 amp, both have their own water and clean out connections. Both RV slips are on grass/dirt, and the entrance/exit is grass and dirt. Our property uses rain water recapture. Please conserve water when you can when cooking, washing up and cleaning. No washing of cars or RVs is allowed. Please note that there might be other guests staying on the property during your visit. Kindly be considerate of noise levels and how it may impact the experience of fellow guests. You may also be sharing amenities such as the grill, deck, outdoor kitchen, and games court. We welcome dogs, but it is your responsibility to manage their interactions with other guests' pets. Due to potential gaps or larger openings in the fencing, we recommend keeping your dog on a leash. About 15 minutes to tube rentals to float the river in San Marcos. The San Marcos outlet malls are a shower trip. An approximate 30 minute trip to Wimberly, TX wineries. There are wildflowers all over the property; especially in the spring time. We have seen deer grazing on the property and some travelers have found fossils and arrowheads (no guarantees of course). In the case that there is an issue with the key pad we do have a manual key so that you will always be able to access your tiny house. Pets are always allowed but we do charge $40 PER pet PER night. We do ask that you keep your pets off of the couch and the bed and clean up any “restroom breaks” outside. Also please note that we Do Not have a full kitchen only a microwave but we do have a charcoal grill under the trees in the common area. Our common areas include 2 showers, 2 toilets, 1 extra large sink area connected to the bathrooms, 2 grills and 4 large picnic tables, a bar and coffee station, a fire pit, hammocks and a rope swing. This space is perfect for any family celebration, reunion, birthday party, ect! It is tucked away at the bottom of the property so you get the space to yourself. IMPORTANT! There is an additional $25/yurt if you want to use the hot tub during your stay. Guest access When you arrive at our house you will park in our circle driveway and walk through the double green gates down the hill to the glampsite. (To the left past the house) The road is slippery/steep so please use the steps. Backpack recommended for easier up and down! You can roll a cooler down the (steep) road! Other things to note Each of the four bell tents are equipped with an AC unit, beds, heater, pillows, sheets, blankets, towels, electrical outlets, twinkle lights, and a lantern. Light switch to main Edison lights are located on the side table near hot tub outlets.
