We loved camping on Lon’s land! Area was nicely maintained, designated camping areas were clearly identified and easy to get to. Trees were beautiful and offered a nice private shady area to tuck away. We had no problem fitting our full size Tundra and had plenty of room to make home for the weekend. Directions were very easy to follow and the hosts were so friendly and accommodating! We will definitely be back for more visits!

Quiet, woodsy, safe and serene! Andy, the owner’s German Shepherd, camped with me and is just the sweetest dog! Linda is a great host and helped resolve my battery pack issues by running power all the way down to my site so everything had power and full charge is restored to my battery pack and me! She has a beautiful spot with a fire pit all set up, plenty of chairs, 2 grills and an eating table and another small folding table too. The outhouse is charming! Great place-I’ll be back if I’m ever this way. Thanks Linda!

10/10 would camp here again. I live 2 hours away so this was perfect for a mini trip.

2 nights at Rustic Retreat near Lake O the Pine

Loved staying here it is a very beautiful and peaceful place. I enjoy sitting in the hot tub, sitting by the fire and taking my dogs for long walks. In the day time I enjoyed fishing and swimming only about 10 min away. I would recommend this place and love to come back!

2 nights at Wayne’s Land

We tent camped at Wayne’s Land and had an absolute blast. Beautiful views of the lake, great amenities in the kayaks and swimming dock. There are definitely alligators in the waters, but nothing really bothered us the whole time we were there. Only downside, I would say, is that the fire pit doesn’t have a grill, so you have to get creative with any cooking.

Weekend Trip to Coppergate Ranch

It’s an ideal woodsy campsite with a picnic bench, clean outhouse as advertised, flat spots for tents and a pond. The frogs were not too loud at night by the pond - just the right amount of nature sounds. We took the row boat out and used the life jackets from the chest by the pond (beware of aggressive wasps in the chest! They keep wasp spray in the porta potty.) It was about a 1/3 mile walk (or bike ride) to the wedding venue to use the nice showers and kitchen. The VERY big and loud but VERY smart and friendly (don’t be scared) family dog guided us along the trail to and from the venue. Highlight for us! Lynda and Ruston were so welcoming and accommodating. We saw that is was supposed to rain by 5am and Ruston offered to move us closer to venue. (But we slept in our van so we could stay at the campsite.) And we got so lucky that we happened to be there for Easter Sunday and we were invited to the family breakfast and egg hunt. Perfect for our 4 year old and so thoughtful. Then we got to meet all the farm animals. Just a magical time!

We were luckily the only ones camping this weekend so they allowed us to camp wherever.☺️ we ended up by the catfish pond and absolutely enjoyed it! Our dogs were having so much fun swimming & we paddled out on the water. Hiking the property was pretty fun too! Their dogs did show up to say hi & even followed us around some of the property :) luckily our dogs are friendly. We loved it :)

A beautiful ranch to enjoy tranquility. So green, a beautiful pond. Laundry on site too was a great thing to have access to on a long trip. Would love to come again if we come through that way again.

Weekend Trip to Hart’s Corner Camping

I can’t recommend Hart’s Corner enough. Had a perfect spot on a peninsula. Beautiful views. Hart made sure we were well taken care of once we set up. Good fishing, especially if you can bring a small kayak and get out to the tree line.

Weekend Trip to Wayne’s Land

It was a great spot to camp. Simple get away with lake front view. We kayaked and canoed with our dog. The campsite was clean and it was convenient to have the compost toilet. We were able to pull right up to the site with our SUV and roof top tent set up. It was fun star gazing and watching the bats hunt over the water.

2 nights at Coppergate Ranch

This camp ground is beautiful and peaceful. An abundance of dogwoods, pine, and other trees. Catfish pond was the first thing we saw when we got up in the morning. So calming watching the water and listening to the morning birds singing while we sipped our coffee. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful and always available. My family and I will be adding this wonderful site to our favorite campgrounds.

Weekend Trip to Barefoot Gee's

My family and I would absolutely recommend this place! The host was over-the-top accommodating and offered tons of activities for the kids. The campsites were well laid out with lots of trees, there was so much space for the kids to safely explore and for the dogs to roam. We did pay for the electricity option, and the ropes course for the kids. The outhouse was very clean.

Had a great stay at one of the Geo domes at Will and Austin’s campgrounds. They have a nice large well kept campground with other available lodging options such as A-frame cabins, tiny homes, and safari tents. Nicely decorated and furnished rooms that elevated the glamping experience. Stayed 2 nights with my significant other and our little pup. Such friendly and welcoming hosts, we will definitely stay again when visiting east Texas.

1 night at Petra D.’s Land

So, there was some mixup with Petra's getting the reservation.... not certain what happened there, but they were gracious and gave me permission to stay the night. I car camp and my spot was level. I was safe and there were no other campers. My purpose was only to avoid the cost of motels as I drive cross country and this served the purpose.

3 nights at Wayne’s Land

I loved camping on Wayne's land. Everything was quiet and clean. We loved being able to canoe on the lake. The compost toilet was nice and secluded. Would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Hart’s Corner Camping

Everything about this campsite, and our host were awesome! Easy booking, check-in, and access. Hart was communicative, friendly and very welcoming. We arrived around 2:30, drove straight into camp, clearly marked with signs, we took in the awesome view, then got set up for the night. Hart checked in with us soon after we arrived and made sure we were all set, and gave us his personal contact info if we needed anything. Extremely friendly guy. The next day when it came to checking out, we left a bit early but Hart made sure to text us to make sure that everything went okay. The site itself was beautiful with easy access, plenty of wood around for a fire, we fished for a bit in the lake, and then watched the stars before bed. It did get quite chilly but that’s to be expected in January! We will surely be back as this was a perfect camping trip!! Thanks, Hart!

Our dome was cozy and complete with everything we needed, bed was comfy and parking and bathroom were situated nearby. We can’t wait to come back and explore the area and stay longer. Austyn and Will are excellent hosts and the entire vibe of the property is excellent.

Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids. About the Bees Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away. Our Dirt Road The last half mile of road to our property is dirt. The road is bumpy in spots and gets muddy when it rains. ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4WD IS RECOMMENDED when there has been recent rains. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. Verizon, ATT users have cell coverage here, no signal for T-Mobile users. LGBTQ+ friendly.

After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998. Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids. About the Bees Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away. Our Dirt Road The last half mile of road to our property is dirt. The road is bumpy in spots and gets muddy when it rains. ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4WD IS RECOMMENDED when there has been recent rains. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. Verizon, ATT users have cell coverage here, no signal for T-Mobile users. LGBTQ+ friendly.
