Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

Our stay at Tent Site #2 at Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park was absolutely wonderful! Carol-anne and Lyn were amazing hosts—friendly, responsive, and super thoughtful. They provided helpful tips before our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed for a great experience. The site was peaceful and well-kept, surrounded by nature and just steps from the Medina River. Even though it was a short hike to the bathrooms, we were well-prepared thanks to their clear heads-up and suggestion to bring a tent potty—especially useful since we were camping with our child. We appreciated the attention to detail, from the check-in process to on-site items like firewood and ice. The no-visitor and quiet policies helped make the space feel safe and relaxing for families. We made some great memories here and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the outdoors!

We absolutely loved our stay! We spent the weekend kid free celebrating our 13 year anniversary & couldn’t help but talk about how much the kids would have loved it! Will definitely be back sometime soon with the kids! Plenty of areas to swim or sit in the water and enjoy the absolute peacefulness of the flowing water and watching the sunset!

We loved camping out at Boulderdash! The campsites were clean and well maintained. There are amenities like freshwater, WiFi, and electricity available if you’d like, but it doesn’t feel like glamping. If you forget anything, Carol-Anne and Lyn have it handy. The riverside sites are a short walk to wading in the Medina river. The kids and dogs had a blast. Campers who come here should abide by the camp’s simple rule; don’t be a jerk. We’re looking forward to coming back as soon as possible!

This is definitely one of the best camping spots we have been to! Access to the river was very easy, even from up the hill, and the water was absolutely perfect. The restrooms were nice and clean. We stayed in Spot 2 with our travel trailer and we were grateful that no one booked Spot 1 next to us so we had a good amount of space and privacy. There were plenty of other people there but everyone was respectful and we were pretty spread out so the noise was minimal.

This location has everything you need, restrooms, community sink, and amazing access to the river. The campgrounds are very clean, and the RV sites are perfect. Carol Ann and Lyn put their passion for camping and traveling into their property. And it shows. These people made us feel like we were family, and honestly just want you to have a great experience while you’re at Boulderdash. If I could give this place 10 stars I gladly would. Been to so many camp sites and Sparrow Bend is by far the best!! Clean amenities, spacious campsites, and the most gorgeous view. Sparrow Bend sets a high standard. It's hard to camp anywhere else without wanting to compare. It's doesn't get better, especially at such a reasonable price. Will be coming back over and over and over <3

My group & I loved camping here. It was beautiful, hosts were quick to respond/helpful when needed, amenities were better than expected! Outdoor showers/sink/bathrooms were nice. The space was also bigger than we expected. Only thing I'd recommend is to bring some ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The dogs in the neighborhood would bark occasionally in the night/early AM and any sounds echo from the river canyon. It wasn't a deal-breaker but ear plugs made all the difference in sleep quality. Also, even though the river was low, the water was refreshing/clean & we were able to swim plenty (perfect for floats/paddleboards). Overall, a wonderful experience & we look forward to coming back!

Both my husband and I really enjoyed our weekend in the hill country, especially here at Seco Ridge! Woody was kind, responsive, and his directions were very clear. The campground itself is spacious, clean, and very quiet which was a plus! Bathrooms and showers were available as well. Each site is numbered and has its own unique characteristics; we reserved site 6 which had the BEST sunrise view. We came on a holiday so we were surprised to find that we were the only ones on the campground. Needless to say, we will definitely be back again and hope to enjoy the band/brewery on the campground next time!

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes. Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. We are 35-45 minutes from San Antonio and are close to Government Canyon SP, Garner SP, Lost Maples SP and Hill Country SNA.
