Camping at Boulderdash was absolutely amazing. We rented tent site 1 and our friends rented tent site 2 and it worked perfectly to have that area together. The sites were clean, quiet and had awesome amenities including the outdoor kitchen area to share with each other. This made washing dishes, charging devices and washing hands so easy. The river is beautiful despite being low and there is easy access to it. They are pet friendly as long as your pet is friendly and that's a huge plus. The hosts were so kind as well, they even put on an easter egg hunt for all the kids on site Saturday night. I can't say enough great things and will definitely be back.

We have been to many glamping sites in TX but I have not seen such a beautiful site with a high elevation view. The host made it extra special sending us a small gift to celebrate our anniversary.. A beautiful night under the stars that you won't forget!

Fantastic camping spot! We booked out both of the river spots so that we had more room and privacy. It was perfect! The walk up to the bath house wasn’t bad at all. Facilities were nice and clean and cared for. We didn’t use the WiFi. The sink and electric were very conveniently located. There was an issue with the outlets, but the hosts were super quick to respond and got us set up with alternate electricity sites in the meantime. Incredibly accommodating. Being next to the water was perfect! The dogs loved it. Plenty of flat spots for tents and parking. Beautiful site. I’ve camped quite a bit within about a 3 hour radius of Austin, and this has been the best! Loved it

Absolutely loved our stay at this stargazer! The location is stunning—right on the river with peaceful views and plenty of nature to soak in. What really set it apart were the extras they offered: they offer massages, and we booked one with Logan, the host. Hands down one of the best massages we’ve ever had—so relaxing and grounding after a long day outdoors. The vibe of the whole place is just serene. Friendly goats, sweet dogs who greeted us like old friends, and Logan was such a warm, thoughtful host. If you’re looking for a camping experience that blends nature, comfort, and a bit of wellness, this is the place. Can’t wait to come back!

We had a great time camping at Fritz’s ranch! The Ridge is an awesome site. It’s perfect for sunrise, sunsets and stargazing. It was a nice flat area with a large fire ring and two perfect trees for hanging the hammock. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for beauty and seclusion. 10/10 would recommend.

Weekend Trip to Dos Rios - Hill Country Adventure

We stayed in a jupe site, “private side,” we had our children and grandchildren in two tents (4-6 man tents) the spot was perfect for us. A short stroll down to the river where we were beach front and basically had our own little sections. Kids loved the cliff jumping, our granbabies loved playing in the shallow end finding beautiful little river rocks and shells. Bathroom and shower was also a short stroll which was super convenient. The jupe itself was a great size, nice and breezy we didn’t have to use ac or heat weather was perfect! I’d highly suggest canopies like we did the sun will getcha in this spot especially as it gets hotter. We would totally stay here again but might just rent both Jupes for more family to attend!

Extremely nice individuals, the staff were friendly and caring. They had and were happy to share the local spots to hang out and the cool things in the area, it was my first time setting up a tent and unfortunately I can’t remember the staff members name, but a woman came by the camp ground after my arrival at 10:30pm and saw me struggling and offered a hand to help I’ve gotta say thank y’all for being an epic can’t sight!

2 nights at Sparrow Bend River Retreat

Sparrow's Bend is a treasure. The hosts have anticipated guests needs with a well kept camp including access to an air-conditioned bathroom and outdoor shower. We brought wood but ended up running low into our second night and they very conveniently keep a pile of firewood with a venmo QR code. We brought our paddle boards and very easily launched right out of camp, though the water is still very, very low. We were able to explore quite a ways in either direction and just had to carry our boards for little sections at a time. Really the best part of the river is right at Sparrows Bend where we spent most our time watching the sparrows and the fish.

2 nights at 500 Waves on the Llano River

500 Waves was perfect for a peaceful getaway. It offered convenient amenities like shade, a stargazing deck, a charming bathroom, outdoor lights/plugs for easy cooking, and a gas grill with provided tables and chairs. The owner's parked RV was unobtrusive, and we had ample space. Although the Llano River was low during our visit, its potential was clear. The location is ideal – a short drive from town and close to other river access points and the Castell General Store. The nearest river crossing is a quick walk. We loved it and eagerly anticipate returning to experience the river at its best. It's a truly special spot!

The nearest town, Menard, is about a 12 minute drive from the property and has a grocery store, gas stations, a couple restaurants, a pub and a bakery. Lovers of history might enjoy visiting the Presidio de San Saba, about 20 minutes from the farm, as well as the historic Pioneers Rest Cemetery in town. Low Gear Farmstead is a safe, welcoming space for queers and POC.

About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING Free firewood for use during your stay and can make a good deal if you want to take some home! As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2.
