A great experience. Has more to offer than listed or pictured. There is a toilet facility, clean and new. Shower and sink for dishes with hot water. The pavilion has party lights and power. The hiking is endless, the view is better than can be photographed. We are long term coming back

We loved tent camping on Chris’ land! The amenities were excellent (electric, water, shade) and they had recently installed a nearby toilet and shower with hot water. Water access and hiking access made for great afternoon activities. Our dogs had a great time too. Thank you Hill Country Escape!

Surrounded by hill country nature. On a lovely lil creek . Listen to the Grape Creek critters where the coyotes sing you to sleep ! This is a perfect for a kicked back getaway. It's a working ranch so you'll hear Bossy cow and the gang casually chatting. As they're chewing the cud. Equipped with a comfortable seating area . An outdoor shower , water and electric. Catch and release fishing. Tons of birds and a gaggle of turkeys across the way. A friendly host with a welcoming smile . A grill , fire ring , tons of shade and couple of turtles for neighbors. We were at site 1 . I would advise a canoe or kayak for fishing as the water lillies are thick . Our stay was completely enjoyable and we look forward to the next visit !

Just spent this weekend out at Chris's spot. As much as i'd like to keep this spot a secret, i definitely want others to experience how awesome this place is. Chris and crew were very welcoming and the site is absolutely incredible. If you like to fish, you would love this spot. If you don't you would still love this spot. Very quiet and very clean. I'll definitely be booking this spot again in the future.

Beautiful property that is conveniently located next to multiple State Parks. Plenty of exciting terrain to explore right here on the property without needing to adventure out too far. Peace, quiet, and the stars at night were to die for.

It was a beautiful property. We enjoyed camping right on the water. There are lots of fish, we caught 2 in under an hour while using their canoe. We also saw plenty of wildlife, hiked the trails, and explored the acreage. The kids and us had a great time!

My friends and i absolutely loved camping here. It is so quiet outside and the host is so accommodating and friendly. The campsite is nice as there are outlets if needed and there is a hose to rinse off pots and pans and a trash can available to dispose of your waste. The view is great and there is lots of hiking available in the area. Absolutely would come here again and recommend it to other friends!

We had such an amazing time camping on Chris’s property! Great location, lots of trails to explore, and wildflowers everywhere. It was the perfect site for our dogs’ first camping trip and I’m so grateful to Chris, Christy, and Jason for making our stay super easy. Highly recommend!!

Perfect spot for tent camping. Private with beautiful views. Family friendly. Had a great time hiking and canoeing. Host checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Will return in the future.

The location and scenery was great, but we were not informed ahead of time that 1. The gazebo was no longer available due to a fallen tree 2. The garbage from the fallen tree and gazebo were still piled in the site. This pile of broken tree trunk and garbage basically split the site in two, partially blocking the view of the river from both ways. Not to mention we lost a valuable source of shade on an 80+ degree weekend. We were offered a cancelation as we stood there around 4pm on site with our cars packed full of our gear and food. We opted to not try to find other lodging at the last second, so some better communication would have been much appreciated.
We enjoyed watching the cows, but we didn't enjoy the honking of pickup trucks before dawn during cow feeding time.
We were also surprised that the site was just a skinny strip of land along a part of the river. It was maybe 10 feet at its narrowest and 50 feet at its widest, with someone else's property along the back side. Just beyond that property were the dirt roads going to other buildings. We felt that it was fairly private as long as there weren't cars around.
We decided to stay out of the water due to NUMEROUS warnings about snakes.
The firepit was massive and awesome, and they brought us some grills and cinder blocks we could use to cook our food.
Walking around the property on the other side of the river was a pleasant change. We spotted some wild turkeys, and the stars and coyotes at night were magical.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our trip. It was exactly what we needed. The pond was great for giving the kids kayak lessons, and they love swimming. Our host was so gracious as to even bring us down some pork chops and other bites last night to eat since we couldn’t have a fire I would definitely recommend this place and we will totally be coming back

Beautiful and well maintained hill country ranch. You usually don’t get to see country like this unless you know the owner so this is worth every penny! The ranch manager and his wife are lovely people and Chris is an incredible host. I’ll certainly be back they’ve got a special place out there.

Chris's land was just what my family and I were looking for, a quiet secluded place surrounded by nature. We didn't see much wildlife besides a few deer, birds, and snakes at the creek but we could hear coyotes and wild turkeys in the far distance, which was so awesome to hear. We also got to put our kayak in the water for a nice little ride down the creek. We look forward to visiting again.

Beautiful just as I imagined, Glenn welcomed me to my camping area and was very sweet and informative. I truck camped and was right along side the river so i had a pretty good view. Saw and heard an abundance of wildlife throughout the night. Hiked a trail since I had my dog with me so we both enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a quiet peaceful camping area this is a must.

What a great spot. Enjoyed camping by the creek (and boating there too). Walking the property was very enjoyable, with good views along the ridgeline opposite the creek. We visited in the spring and wildflowers were everywhere. It was nice also to have the gazebo space to keep food & gear free from critters. I would definitely recommend staying here.

This camp was such a welcome landing space for my weary bones. After a long day of driving, I arrived at the hill country and was greeted by the thoughtful land managers. They were familiar was the space, but not intrusive. This experience would be easy on someone who does not camp often, as the amenities offer just the right amount of sanctuary (I slept on the floor of the gazebo rather than set up my tent), or the seasoned enthusiast looking for a place to reset without the noise of life on the grid. I went to bed to the sound of cicadas and awake to sunrise with the cattle, never getting distracted by the lull of life on the other side of the country road that brought me to the camp.

This destination is one of the best you will find in Texas Hill Country. It has almost everything I look for in a camping adventure: far away from the hustle (little to no crowd presence except for one other rental home and the occasional ranch worker/resident passing by), excellent star gazing (bring your telescope if you have one you can transport as the night sky here is about a 7.5 out of 10 - assuming ideal conditions), exceptional natural beauty, wildlife, decent hiking options, a chance to swim, kayaking potential, fishing (which we missed because we didn't bring gear), geological or anthropological interest (minerals, artifacts, ruins, a history of occupation by varying civilizations, rock formations, caves, cliffs, springs, fault lines, transitional elements, rivers, creeks, lakes, etc.) and geographical significance/topographical range. This camping spot has most of these requirements met.
The spot is on a large ranch in the shade next to a creek with lily pads. A canoe is available for use, though we were content to just use our floats and relax on the creek for hours. You will find a variety of wildlife populations including insect, bird, frog, snake, turtle, armadillo, deer, raccoon, squirrel, coyote, wild boar, rabbit, fish, lizard, salamander, and more. Expect to spend time with livestock if you leave the camping area.
Stunning rock formations (mostly sandstone) and geological features are also here as well as a chance of finding arrowheads or indigenous implements. This spot was certainly a chosen spot for indigenous people, and the amount of sculpted flint on this property indicates this.
Chris--your charming host and guide at this property--is very accommodating and knowledgeable about the property. If you have questions, needs, or concerns, she will likely help you get what you need or guide you to the right place.
I will return as long as this spot is available. And, I hesitate to leave a review because I don't want it to be so popular that it is difficult to return. The pictures (at present) do not even begin to tell the story of this place. One thing you should not expect is 100% seclusion, though it is mostly private. It is nonetheless remarkable and anyone with the right goals and gear will love it. If you plan to hike, bring sunblock, repellent, boots, some manner of water shoes, and durable, fast-drying clothing if you plan to get in the water.
There are noxious weeds on the trails/roads around the property and you will not want to expose your legs or feet to this or you will be picking off sand burs and other sticky, painful or poisonous flora. Nothing on the ground in Texas is guaranteed the absence of grizzly plant life. Protecting your ankles with boots and some sort of insect repellent is essential here (but if you know Texas, this should be no surprise). There are leech-like critters in the creek, as well. We were not sure what exactly these were, but they were small and easy to brush off. Rosemary oil is a favorite - especially for the ankles and legs (just be careful not to apply it to any area of the body with sensitive membranes, to babies or pregnant campers).
You will also need someplace to sleep - perhaps a hammock (only one good spot available for this and you will need lots of para cord or some good cinching straps), air mattress, cot, a good pad surface, or a vehicle where you can sleep with sufficient comfort. This place will have electricity soon, but until then, bring a way to charge your electronics. The cellular coverage is patchy. Verizon worked some of the time, but the bandwidth was consistently poor for data.
And, lastly: snakes. There are copperhead snakes and most surely other poisonous snakes present, as you would expect in this environment. Be aware of where you place your hands and your feet, at all times. Do not walk in the dark without knowing what you are stepping toward or on. This is a common-sense outdoors caution. You will have a good chance of running into snakes here, especially if you explore. We saw two small snakes while there.
Phone coverage is often nonexistent, and you cannot depend on this, at all. So don't even try.
Spots like this take some planning to maximize enjoyment because they can vary and are often unique. This spot has some amenities for sure, but be prepared to deal with some rough edges. Overall, this spot is an 8.5 out of 10. We can't wait to go again.
