Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)!
Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. Inquire ahead of time to see if firewood is available to be gathered on site, or if you will need to bring your own. No uninvited guests without 24 hour prior approval, and additional guest fees paid. Also please no more than one dog per site.

Enjoy a weekend getaway on this 7.6 acres primitive land. Sunsets and star gazing are amazing here. Bring your tent and setup in 2 different camp areas or wherever you prefer. Fires are permitted in the fire pits that are provided in two different areas of the land. Our land is divided in the middle where you are able to park. Bikes and atvs are welcome, there are trails for walking, a small hill by the pond that you can easily hike and open areas where atvs can fit all around the perimeter of the property. If an area isn’t open don’t attempt to use for your own safety. You can gather firewood from branches or trees that are laying around the property. Please do not cut or harm any trees.
Because this is a primitive camping site there is no water or electricity. Make sure you bring your own drinking water or for any personal use. Compost Bathrooms will have some water for showering but if this runs out you will have to provide your own, these bathrooms are covered with 3 walls but are pretty private a few feet away from the campsites.
There is a pond towards the back of the property. No swimming allowed! There are fishes in there you can fish but only catch and release. You can drive up towards the pond if the ground is dry but do not attempt when it’s wet as dirt is very soft and you can get stuck.
Trash bins are not provided so please carry out your trash. Please help us maintain our land clean. Since there is so many acres we are still in the process of cleaning out what the other owners left behind.
We do have neighbors so please be mindful and we ask to please be careful with animals around the property since it’s only partially fenced, animals can come in and out looking for food or shelter so be aware of that once you book a stay. A train passes near by too so keep that in mind if you’re a light sleeper.
Any other questions you may have feel free to message me and I will respond as soon as possible. There is phone reception in this area so you don’t have to worry about losing cellphone service.

If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Everything was as listed. We car camped and were able to pull right next to the water. The fire wood was free and in big supplies! We caught some monster bass in the little lake. The bathroom was clean and well kept which was huge for us. We were the only ones staying there this weekend so it was pretty quiet which was nice. Overall good experience

It was a night little getaway not too far. The place we clean and had mostly everything you’d need. The only thing was it looked like you could roam around a little more but it’s the road you drive up on and a little back so exploring with the dogs was a little limited but I would highly recommend this place

If you’re looking for a relaxing adventure with all the comforts of home, this is the perfect stay. The host was amazing—friendly, helpful, and incredibly quick to respond to any questions we had. We brought our RV and were able to camp right alongside my sister, who rented the Airstream for Thanksgiving, which made the experience even more special.
The property itself was beautiful. We spent our days exploring the trails and enjoying the local wildlife, and our evenings were filled with cozy campfire vibes and plenty of s’mores. It was the ideal blend of comfort and outdoor fun. We can’t recommend this stay enough and can’t wait to come back!

Paula is so sweet and accommodating, very quick to return calls and messages. The site has its own style of charm and feels very private and secluded. The dock is big and we had one of the best star gazing nights ever. Really big sky! The road noise is the only negative which I read in other posts. It seemed like background noise to me but kept others awake. Overall We had a great time. Thanks Paula!

Excellent camping spots offering privacy and convenience. We set up camp near the pond, which has lovely views and multiple great spots for tents. The toilet were near the camp sites, but far enough away to offer privacy. The dogs absolutely loved being off leash and running around the pond. There is a little bit of traffic noise, but overall a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our time on Paula’s land! The Golden Hour was beautiful by the pond, with almost 180 degrees view of sunset. We chose to tent camp right by the pond. My boys got to fish and we saw quite a few critters - frogs, turtles, and a few snakes. You can hear the highway, but it wasn’t an issue for us. The main campsite was beautiful too, but we liked having close access to the pond. Our dog is use to off leash, so this was perfect for him. Paula’s neighbor has dogs, but our dog doesn’t wander away from us so we did not have any issues with that. My kids loved the hammock swing. I loved having a fire pit for grilling and Dutch oven cooking. The dock was perfect for stargazing at night. Paula was helpful and made us feel very welcome!

Weekend Trip to Riveted Retreat
We stayed over Labor Day weekend from Friday to Monday and as someone who has had 4 days off in two months I was looking forward to nothing but relaxing. This was the medicine I needed! We got to the spot and in the gate with zero problems. It is exactly as advertised and the pictures tell you exactly what you are getting. It was so quiet, beautiful, and serene that I immediately relaxed. The camper is great and equipped with everything you would need. We over packed because we've had other experiences that weren't as equipped with what we needed but this was perfection. We put bird seed I the feeder the first night and by the next day we had all sorts of birds, we had a sweet armadillo who visited us everyday, and two barred owls who decided to have a conversation each evening. Humming birds all over the place, fireflies, and just so calming. When it rained we were able to not only stay inside and stream our shows but also WiFi was on point so I was able to sit outside and watch on my iPad. The covers deck was also perfect for that while it rained. The pool was clean and a great dip to cool off. The only thing with that is that it was a little hard to get in and out for a shorty like me. We had a blast and will absolutely rent this again!! When we needed more firewood the owners came ASAP and brought more. Very kind and hey, we did hit up Buc-ee's that is only miles away for fun and great snacks. Highly recommend for quiet, silent weekend!

Weekend Trip to Riveted Retreat
Had a wonderful time this weekend soaking in the pool, chilling with the dogs, and chilling inside and out with the amazing WiFi while it rained down. The owners were quick to respond with new firewood and had a nice bag of candied pecans waiting for us. This was the weekend we were looking for and so private. Totally as advertised and the deck with the roof over was perfect for the times it did rain so we could still be outside. Would totally recommend this place again and will be back for sure. Oh and there is a Buc-ee's only a few miles away so that was great for amazing snacks and a quick breakfast when we didn't want to cook.

Great property just a short trip from Houston. We were met at the entrance by the property manager and he gave us a quick tour. Public restroom and shower to use if needed and free range to explore most of the property. Scenic prairie views and the campsites had a table set up with a fire ring already.

My husband and I loved the property at Camp Joy. Everything is easily accessible and very well kept. We ended up being the only 2 campers on the property when we went but still had a very family feel as it is not very big but nicely spaced. We plan on visiting again. Also, even though not met in person, Ms. Joy was not only very informative but soo kind and welcoming in our back and forth conversations on the app.

I booked the grades but due to high brush we were recommended the area near the pond. Despite the heat I had an amazing time. The pond had some nice sized fish, I'm not really sure what they are called but there's variety. There is alot of see weed so we caught that most of the time. I did add firewood and an extra tent but there was no firewood until the day after we checked in. But it wasn't a big issue the first night, we got approval to use any deadwood we find. The bathroom had an infestation of what looked like wasp, but we were relived to find they were wasp like but not exactly, they don't sting, either way it was taken care of afterwards. The heat was pretty hot midday and I was tempted into going in the pond to cool off, but with the amount of seaweed I didn't want to risk my feet getting tangled. We were able to walk the property as we were the only ones there the first 2 days and I will definitely be coming back in the cooler months and trying out the forested areas deep in the property, I wish we were able to get to the river. Maybe next time. All in all it was a great experience with a few hiccups but the warden was very amicable and responded in a timely manner on our concerns. Plus he had a cute little puppy with the most gorgeous eyes.
