You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers.

You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree.
You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos.

Tired of the city ordinances that restricted raising fouls, I decided to look for an acreage that is not too far nor too close to the city and which allowed the raising of farm animals. As of this writing, we have 2 beautiful heifers, 18 sheep, and colorful giant kois in the pond that once in a while can be seen when they swim near the surface.
Stay in the log cabin, or pitch a tent. Enjoy stargazing, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the property.
Pick wild grapes
or wild blackberries (when in season) or spring wildflowers. Kayak or canoe in the pond.
Bring your fishing gear and bait.
Cabin use is free, but these are STRICT RULES.
1. No pets please, not even emotional support animals of any kind due to allergy in the family (we use the cabin when not booked).
2. No smoking inside the cabin
3. Do not use the bathroom towels for kitchen purposes
or to wipe off dirt
4. Please no outdoor footwear indoors, but you are welcome to wear clean indoor footwear. Violation will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit
5. Cars MUST be parked on the rocked section, thus walking is necessary from this point.
This is a 2-3 minute walk. The driveway might be dry but, no vehicles will be allowed past the rocked section due to unpredictability of weather. If it rains, vehicles will get stuck in the pasture.
6. Never leave food - solid or liquid - where ants can find them or you will cause them to infest the house including your bed! They can do so faster than you can imagine.
7. Please do not bring more people than officially booked, or we will cancel the reservation. No refund. We also close the gate once you have checked in to prevent the animals from escaping.
8. The moisture content can cause shrinkage or expansion of the ground, which can lead to leveling issues to the cabin. So please be aware that doors may or may not open or close smoothly.

Our 100 acre heritage property has been in the family for over 150 years. Since 2017, we've been operating our land as a Vegan, Regenerative-Agriculture Farm & Animal Sanctuary. We currently have 2 dogs, 3 cats plus a herd of 31 Cows, 4 Potbelly Pigs and 2 Spanish Goats. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore and gorgeous views of the Texas horizons....time your stay just right and you can stand directly between the sunset and the moonrise! We also have a hike-and-bike, nature trail that offers a 360 loop around the property.
We have a new construction Bath House on site for restroom needs w/ hot showers and composting potties plus a cold-water sink w/ non-potable water suited for washing produce, hands, dishes or camping gear.

The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)!
Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping.

If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Check for local events happening all around such as Aggie Football Games, Snook ChiliFest, Market Days on the Square in Caldwell and much, much more!

Fire pits are available in two different areas of the property, and campfires are permitted within these designated spaces. The land is divided through the middle, which allows convenient access for parking. Bikes and ATVs are welcome, but for your safety, please do not enter or attempt to use any areas that seem unsafe. Guests are welcome to collect firewood from fallen branches or trees already on the ground. However, please do not cut, damage, or remove any standing trees. As this is a primitive camping site, there is no electricity or running water available. Please bring your own drinking water and water for personal use. Our compost bathrooms contain a small amount of water for basic showering; however, if the water runs out, guests will need to provide their own. These bathrooms are enclosed on three sides and are located a short distance from the campsites, providing a reasonable level of privacy. There is a pond located toward the back of the property. Swimming is not permitted. Fishing is allowed, but it is strictly catch-and-release. You may drive closer to the pond only when the ground is dry. Please do not attempt to drive there after rain, as the soil becomes very soft and vehicles may become stuck. Trash bins are not provided, so please pack out all trash and belongings when you leave. As this is a large property, we are still working to remove items left behind by previous owners. We do have neighbors nearby, so please be respectful and mindful of noise levels. The property is only partially fenced, and animals may
occasionally pass through the area looking for food or shelter. Please remain aware of your surroundings during your stay. A train passes nearby from time to time, so guests who are light sleepers may want to plan ahead. If you plan to bring pets and allow them off leash, please note that we are not responsible for any injuries or incidents. One of our neighbors in particular has a breeding issue and his dogs tend to bark especially at night. Because this is an unrestricted property area, there is limited control over neighboring animals (we have tried to resolve this issue with no results) If you are a light sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs or headphones to minimize any noise disturbance during your stay. Tired of the city ordinances that restricted raising fouls, I decided to look for an acreage that is not too far nor too close to the city and which allowed the raising of farm animals. As of this writing, we have 2 beautiful heifers, 18 sheep, and colorful giant kois in the pond that once in a while can be seen when they swim near the surface.
Stay in the log cabin, or pitch a tent. Enjoy stargazing, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the property.
Pick wild grapes
or wild blackberries (when in season) or spring wildflowers. Kayak or canoe in the pond.
Bring your fishing gear and bait.
Cabin use is free, but these are STRICT RULES.
1. No pets please, not even emotional support animals of any kind due to allergy in the family (we use the cabin when not booked).
2. No smoking inside the cabin
3. Do not use the bathroom towels for kitchen purposes
or to wipe off dirt
4. Please no outdoor footwear indoors, but you are welcome to wear clean indoor footwear. Violation will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit
5. Cars MUST be parked on the rocked section, thus walking is necessary from this point.
This is a 2-3 minute walk. The driveway might be dry but, no vehicles will be allowed past the rocked section due to unpredictability of weather. If it rains, vehicles will get stuck in the pasture.
6. Never leave food - solid or liquid - where ants can find them or you will cause them to infest the house including your bed! They can do so faster than you can imagine.
7. Please do not bring more people than officially booked, or we will cancel the reservation. No refund. We also close the gate once you have checked in to prevent the animals from escaping.
8. The moisture content can cause shrinkage or expansion of the ground, which can lead to leveling issues to the cabin. So please be aware that doors may or may not open or close smoothly.

The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping.

And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Fire pits are available in two different areas of the property, and campfires are permitted within these designated spaces. The land is divided through the middle, which allows convenient access for parking. Bikes and ATVs are welcome, but for your safety, please do not enter or attempt to use any areas that seem unsafe. Guests are welcome to collect firewood from fallen branches or trees already on the ground. However, please do not cut, damage, or remove any standing trees. As this is a primitive camping site, there is no electricity or running water available. Please bring your own drinking water and water for personal use. Our compost bathrooms contain a small amount of water for basic showering; however, if the water runs out, guests will need to provide their own. These bathrooms are enclosed on three sides and are located a short distance from the campsites, providing a reasonable level of privacy. There is a pond located toward the back of the property. Swimming is not permitted. Fishing is allowed, but it is strictly catch-and-release. You may drive closer to the pond only when the ground is dry. Please do not attempt to drive there after rain, as the soil becomes very soft and vehicles may become stuck. Trash bins are not provided, so please pack out all trash and belongings when you leave. As this is a large property, we are still working to remove items left behind by previous owners. We do have neighbors nearby, so please be respectful and mindful of noise levels. The property is only partially fenced, and animals may
occasionally pass through the area looking for food or shelter. Please remain aware of your surroundings during your stay. A train passes nearby from time to time, so guests who are light sleepers may want to plan ahead. If you plan to bring pets and allow them off leash, please note that we are not responsible for any injuries or incidents. One of our neighbors in particular has a breeding issue and his dogs tend to bark especially at night. This was our first camping trip with our toddler, and I couldn’t have found a better spot!
The property is peaceful, beautiful, and well kept. Julie took great care of us. Site 17 is secluded and surrounded by shade trees, close walk to an outhouse, and has easy access to trails. The lake is not far at all, and our son loved fishing, the boats, and just throwing rocks in the water.

5D ranch was a wonderful stay! Campsites were in great condition and the property is well maintained (clear pathways, clean trails, etc).
Campsite 10 is very secluded and exactly what I was looking for. Perfect if you want to truly feel “away” from everyone but still a couple minutes walk from other sites and the out house. Other campers consisted of families & dogs that were all very kind! We were able to meet some folks at the fishing pond while having plenty of space to do our own thing.
But I must say that Julie and her family are what made this an incredible experience. From the second we checked in to the moment we left, Julie and her daughter were so welcoming. Felt like we had visited several times :) will definitely be back!

Great camping experience at 5D Ranch! The host was there to greet us on arrival, showed us the way, and provided a helpful map. The campsite was private, peaceful, and perfect for our family trip with our 2-year-old and dogs. We had a fantastic time and would definitely come back again.

What an enchanting little piece of land. My family and I loved every second of our stay. We pitched a tent and filled our days with fishing and our nights with campfires. Having the cabin near by was perfect for little things like needing a microwave, or a bed if the sleeping bag became untenable. The pond is so lovely and the cabin is perfectly oriented for sunrise and sunset so if you can’t find shade you can just go in there and cool off for a bit. Highly recommend this spot for tent camping with access to amenities!

Fantastic camping on Todd’s land lots of open area to walk around and explore. There is a great pond to fish and swim in. Comes with a paddle boat and Jon boat. I will say you can hear the near by road most of the night but it didn’t bother us too much. 10/10 would book again.

Love going out to Gary’s place, it’s always so quiet and peaceful. Despite not being able to have a campfire due to a fire weather watch at the time (which I totally get) I still had a great time.

We had an amazing stay at 5D Ranch! The campsite was beautiful, clean, private, and spacious. Easy communication with the host throughout the process. The property has great trails for hiking and a nice pond for fishing with the kids. Being able to use the boats (with life jackets included) was such a nice bonus and made the experience even better. It was a fantastic getaway, and we will definitely be coming back!
