Weekend Trip to Burgers Lake Camping

I wasn't sure what to expect but was really happy. We got to the waterpark/campground around 5pm on a friday so the place wasn't too packed and they didn't charge us to use the pool that day. The staff, esspecially Sherwood who has big plans for the poace, were all super friendly, helpful and told us to pretty much camp anywhere that you could park. We had the whole place to ourselves that night and my boys and friends got to run around playing tag in the dark which they loved. The next morning we were able to pick out the best spots on the lake for the day and had a blast. Just know that apparently during the off season they let you make a campfire but during the pool season they don't. We were there the first week of season and they made an exception so if campfires are important, you might want to double check with them before hand. Other than that, I'd absolutely recomend camping here.

2 nights at Sandy Bottoms River Company

We planned the trip expecting a thunderstorm for the whole 3 days, the first night it stormed everyone else left besides us. We had the whole place to ourselves and it didn’t even rain the other 2 days. It was so relaxing!! We even rented one of the paddle boats and enjoyed some fishing on the river!! Will definitely be back!

Great location. Easy access to all attractions in the area. The host has established a great campsite for tent camping as well as small rv. The amenities were great with easy access to the river. The big pecan was a great spot for enjoying nature in privacy.

We had a great time at this campsite! The grounds were well-kept, the water was clean, and everything was just as described. It was peaceful, spacious, and perfect for a weekend getaway. We did come across a copperhead snake during our stay. It was a good reminder to stay aware of your surroundings—especially in natural areas like this. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our time and would definitely consider coming back!

This was a wonderful spot to camp! We stayed at the Foxhollow site, and it was perfectly shaded with lots of flat ground for tents. The river access with the little beach was perfectly shaded for a relaxing day in the water. A truly great getaway!

Gipsy Moon was a great place for tent camping! The folks there are friendly and helpful, and the sites are lovely and clean. Generally, the campground was quiet and peaceful. We had two five-year-olds with us and they loved swimming in the river and petting all of the goats! We’d recommend, for sure.

Great get away for a day trip or weekend. Nice tent deck and fire pit area with plenty of space around the camp. Tent deck was just shy of our 12’ wide tent but the ground was level and just fine. Has playground and sand box with toys the kids enjoyed. Great path down to the water. Clean and maintained camp site. Good view of the stars through the tree tops. Had some visitors (raccoons) in the trees but didn't come into camp or disturb us. Fun to watch them do their thing. We had a great time paddle boarding up the river to a local water hole with the family and 2 pups. Visited the big rocks park in the late afternoon to get some good sunset starburst pictures. The kids love those giant boulders. I dont have any photos of the site was too busy enjoying the moments.

Weekend Trip to Burgers Lake Camping

I was there the day before they officially opened and there was only a high school graduating class there. Got to spend the afternoon enjoying this beautiful, spring fed lake, complete with slides, fountains, diving boards (of all heights), and snack bar (they make an awesome cheeseburger!). Once they cleared out, I had the place to myself. Owners were very accommodating. Even though they don’t really offer space with power, they found me a plug to charge my Jackery. They also offered tips on what not to miss at the Stockyards. The camping area is grassy, level and very shady with tons of large pecan trees that were planted by original owners. The facility was very clean, hosts were friendly and it is truly a magical place to stay! It’s only about 15 minutes from the Stockyards, so very convenient if you’re planning to visit there. I was just passing through, but would definitely love to come back sometime! I am a single female, traveling alone and felt extremely safe. Don’t forget to hit the artisan well to fill up your water jugs on the way out!

1 night at Hopz n Skootz: Camping & Fishing

I had an amazing experience at Sonja’s place! The views were stunning, and it felt like the perfect escape peaceful and relaxing, yet surprisingly close to Dallas. This was my first time camping and I went solo, so I was definitely feeling anxious, but the moment I arrived and met Sonja and her sweet daughter Olivia, I immediately felt safe and welcomed. Sonja went above and beyond to make sure everything was convenient and comfortable. She mowed the grass before I arrived and sprayed the bathroom for mosquitoes, which was a huge relief. The bathroom itself was stocked with everything I could possibly need bug sprays, fire starters, a lighter, batteries, OFF! spray, sanitizing wipes, and more. Honestly, I regretted stopping at Walmart for those items Sonja had it all covered! One of the highlights of my stay was getting to meet her baby goats they were so much fun to play with! And to top it all off, she even gifted me fresh eggs, which was such a kind and thoughtful touch. This was truly a special experience, and I’m already planning to come back hopefully next time with my husband. If you have kids, this is a very family friendly spot where you’ll feel safe, cared for, and have a great time. Highly, highly recommend!

The camp grounds were lovely. They provided a platform for a tent with turf. There was a huge fire pit! The water was clear and mild temperatures. We appreciate the little extra things that they added making camping easier like a picnic table and hammock.

We had an absolute blast at Pecans on the Paluxy! The campground is easy to find, well maintained, and Paul was very easy to get ahold of and responsive to all of our requests! Make sure you get the kayaks because the river is so much fun to explore! We fished, enjoyed a campfire under the stars, found some creek beds to walk into, and had a great family bonding time!

This property is eclectic! They have plenty of sites to camp- all named accordingly, we stayed in Fox Hollow. It was such a cozy little site! There are restrooms and showers in the common area complete with goats and ducks! They have a water source and youre able to collect as needed. Amy has fire wood available and fruits and veggies! Don't forget the camp kitten!! I feel like people are permanent residents here-a tiny home community and you may need all wheel drive if it rains. We would go back for sure, I want to venture out again and stay at the site by the river. Everyone kept to themselves and it was so peaceful and quiet--nature sounds, goats and ducks...it was great!

We loved Site 3! The site is large is space and quiet. The only thing we could partially hear was a generator from site 2 but that’s about it. The water was cool and clear. Although kayaks are available to rent, right in front of site 3 is very shallow and best for pool noodles and inflatable tubes. Water shoes are recommended but not required. My 3 year old had a blast jumping in the water. The water picket was extremely close to refill our jugs. My only concerns would be the ants and how to combat them next time. There were a lot of red ants and it made it tough to sit anywhere without worrying about my legs. We saw 2 snakes that didn’t bother us but definitely scared the girls. Hahah. Other than that, my family had a blast and we would definitely book again!

We have 5 different spacious sites to choose from. Most have a tree break area in-between for privacy. Or rent all 5 and have the entire property to yourself. Updated river photos will be posted on our Facebook page, or message me for updates. Unfortunately, I'm not able to control the river. It goes up and down depending on rain and temperatures. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters. We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River. During drought conditions and high temperatures I always recommend keeping your head above water and avoiding stagnant areas in the river. In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not a extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views. Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent. Site 1 Limestone ledge: Firepit seating area overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a shade umbrella, separate rock patio closer to the water overlooking the river with 2 wooden rocking chairs, stairs down to riverbed, huge pecan trees, kids play set with sand box, 1 picnic table, shade umbrella, and a 10' x 10' raised tent deck platform overlooking the river. Site 2: Firepit seating area overlooking limestone riverbed with 3 Adirondack chairs, picnic table with a shade umbrella, 10' x 10' raised tent / deck platform, stairs down to riverbed and shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy. Please select those during checkout Tips: Bring river shoes, nose plugs, swimming essentials. Parts of the river can be very slippery. Bring life jackets, especially for children. Come stay on our 100 acre Richard Creek Valley getaway, gently tucked away on the north slope. There are four campsites on the property and they are all at least 150 yards away from each other. Each site is private. When the ground is dry there is access for all vehicles. When the ground is muddy, Brookside, RiverRock, and Richardson Creek campsites require a 4-wheel drive and have alternate routes to get to them. Ancient Oaks is an all-weather site. You can enjoy hiking and swimming in Richardson Creek when water levels permit. Canoeing from Bakers Crossing put-in which is only 3 miles away. Some places to check out while you are here include Dinosaur Valley State Park, Dinosaur World, Granbury Historic Square, Stephenville Rodeo, Bakers Crossing River Put-In, Oakdale Plunge Pool, and BigRocks Park in Glen Rose. Pecans on the Paluxy - River Views

Our private property is located near the historic square of glen rose but feels like you are miles away in the country. Have fun kayaking, swimming, fishing, or just sit back and enjoy the views. We have 5 different spacious sites to choose from. Most have a tree break area in-between for privacy. Or rent all 5 and have the entire property to yourself. Updated river photos will be posted on our Facebook page, or message me for updates. Unfortunately, I'm not able to control the river. It goes up and down depending on rain and temperatures. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters. We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River. During drought conditions and high temperatures I always recommend keeping your head above water and avoiding stagnant areas in the river. In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not a extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views. Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent. The Paluxy river ranges from just a few inches deep to 5 feet deep in our camping area. There are more swimming holes a little deeper up and downstream. Water is available at the entrance. No restroom - pack in, pack out. Bring your own potty and water. If you are not familiar with dry camping do some research. There are all types of methods for restrooms, heating, cooling, etc. available now to make it enjoyable. Dogs are allowed on leash. Please do not allow your dog to roam freely if they are aggressive in nature. Clean up after them. Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to 3 days before your stay for a full refund. Weekends during peak seasons (March - June & September - November) are non-refundable unless canceled and another camper reserves the site. I do offer partial refunds for extreme weather conditions.
