My pups and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay! The experience exceeded my expectations. We loved how much thought and consideration the hosts put into everything. The description was accurate and informative and the host was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the private river access. It was peaceful and rejuvenating; we will definitely stay here again! My dogs didn’t want to leave. We saw a few snakes, carp, raccoon and deer by the river but bugs were not an issue. Cell service (T-Mobile) was a little spotty at the river, not bad though. The outdoor shower was nice to be able to clean up after playing in the river with my dogs. Definitely check out the little farm stand while you’re there! There were fresh eggs and jellies for sale when we were there.

Had a great weekend! Hot showers, clean porta potty, and plenty of firewood for us to use! Owner was super helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed the fresh eggs they sold that we cooked for breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Weekend Trip to Happy Horse Camp & RV Getaway

What went well? EVERYTHING was better than described or expected. My wife and I were met by Bo (sorry if not the spelling). Smiling from ear to ear and just an overall wonderful person. He helped us take our things to our cabin and described different things that we could do. Everything from a scavenger hunt to harmonica lessons. Beautiful property nestled away from traffic or prying eyes. The cabins are spaced well far apart so you do not feel like others are in your business. I could not believe how well stocked the cabin was. Plenty of blankets, heaters, ceiling fans, air conditioning, cookware, microwave - this was literally the easiest camping experience I've ever had and I'm 55 lol. They also have a fire pit area for each individual cabin to make the experience even nicer. We spent 2 evenings and just had a blast. There are plenty of places to get wonderful food, beverages or any other thing you and your family might need. This is a must stop for camping on a wonderful level. Each cabin also had its own 5 star outhouse and 5 star is the truth! Absolutely cleaner than public restrooms with every necessity. I highly recommend this camping spot!

Weekend Trip to McDonald Farm

This is my second time hosting a retreat at the McDonald farm, I’ve never felt more comfortable with a host. Samantha goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is amazing. This weekend it was raining when we arrived and Samantha shuttled some of the guest over to us so their cars wouldn’t get stuck and helped them with their luggage. The other host upon arrival was extremely helpful as well and eased any concern I had with the weather before I even had to ask. I’m so grateful for their kindness and Samantha’s quick and easy communication. The land is so beautiful and literally my favorite spot out of Georgetown and other surrounding areas. I will never not go back to the McDonald farm, I can’t wait til next time !

Weekend Trip to Sound Ground (fka Reverse Pioneers)

Spot was convenient from Guadalupe River State Park. Host was easy to communicate with and the place was easy to find. The spot was nice and private.

Weekend Trip to Wildflower Getaway

Amazing experience! This is a very family friendly camp site. We camped in a tent and the spot they set us up with was really nice, near the outdoor shower, outhouse, and a hammock with a string of lights hung through the trees. There are horses and ponies and goats that roam the property and come say hi and there’s some playground equipment for little kids to play on. The property is fenced in and it felt very safe to let my kids run around. It’s owned by a very sweet family, who maintain their land really well. As a member of the LGBTQ community, it’s often difficult to find places that I can feel safe out in nature with my kids and they were very accepting of my family and I. If you’re looking for a fun, quiet, family friendly spot to camp, I highly recommend staying here.

Weekend Trip to Twisted Oaks...

No frills car camping, highly recommended! John’s land is beautiful and has many sites to choose from with flat places for tents, fire ring, tables and chairs. John is friendly and so are his dogs. He’s done a lot of DIY projects like an outdoor shower, bucket flush toilet, disc golf holes (bring your own discs) and has a few campers, a dump truck and other equipment on site that might not feel like pure nature but it didn’t bother me. If you want a true “pristine natural area” look elsewhere but for weekend car campers it’s a great place. Firewood available on site. 15 mins from downtown.

Weekend Trip to Ranch 3232

Very well maintained and friendly atmosphere. The communal area came in clutch. Coffee in the morning gives you a brief chance to be social with other campers. The primitive sites are very secluded with the cedar trees surrounding them. Site H is by far the best. Your back is to to a fence and there is a trail connecting to the next site over for a bigger group. Road to the sites is a little rough but it adds to the experience. Overall it’s a great place and definitely worth a return visit.

We had a great time camping on Billy’s land. The river was beautiful and the campsite was spacious and appointed with a fire pit and chairs. Firewood was provided for a low price. The goats and sheep were friendly and cute.

This place is awesome one of the best hip camps we have ever been to. The little peninsula right off the river was beautiful and lush accompanied by canoes that are available to rent and firewood available for purchase as well. This is a Tip top establishment that I will definitely be visiting again and again for times to come. From wild beavers two cows in the river this place has it all!

Beautiful weekend in nature with hiking, happy farm animals, camping shenanigans. There’s an outdoor sink, potable water, and a regular toilet. There’s a very nice communal area with picnic seating/kitchen that’s lit by night with cute string lighting. My favorite part was the walk in the woods down to the river where we met the 600-800 year old pecan Mother Tree. Then at the river we waded, the doggies swam and everyone took a nap in the sun. We all love animals dearly, and i surprised the group with the mini-horse grooming. Snickerdoodle was looking so cute after we brushed out her hair!

Children age 3 and under are free. If bringing children, please tell us how many and their ages. Nearby Parks for hiking and swimming: HAMILTON POOL PRESERVE (1.9 mi) is open by reservation for hiking and swimming. Visits are for 3 1/2 hour blocks of time. No dogs allowed at Hamilton Pool MILTON REIMERS RANCH COUNTY PARK (2.5 mi) is nearby and is open for hiking, swimming, fishing, rock climbing, and cycling. Dogs on a leash allowed at Reimers. CASH ONLY! $5/per person, no reservation required. We love it there! . These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers. The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so. Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds. Campfires are permitted. There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one. Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. As of March 2025, I have my RV parked in back. It still leaves 60+ feet for YOU! Your RV will overlap alongside the house; unless you prefer to be in the back, then we can discuss moving my RV. The entire lot is fenced in, granting guests(and pets) full use of the pool and yard. Enjoy privacy with no neighbors in the back and an 8' side fence where your RV will be parked. The lot is a city sized lot, less than 1/5 acre, but HipCamp won't let me put in less than 1 acre. Pictures show my white/red retro RV as well as other RV's and how they have fit with and without my RV. Backing in is best. You may find maneuvering backwards a bit challenging due to the angle from the street through the front gate and my house overhang. It can be done...it just may take a village! :o) There's plenty of room to tandem park a towed vehicle in front of your RV(fenced in too!), and both 50amp and 30amp electric hookups are located on the back side of my house near the water hookup. (NOTE: Hipcamp will not let me notate in the fields that I have a 50amp AND a 30amp, thus I have 2 sites listed. I have had 2 RV guests stay at same time, but will not book that unless I get the ok from all parties.) LIVE sewer hookup isn't available because my clean-out is in the front of the house. Dumping can be done on the way out or with a portable tank. Nestled in a charming, gentrifying neighborhood, expect the pleasant hum of city sounds (not overly loud) and glimpses of starlit skies. During your stay, I'll be residing in the house with my sociable dog, Toby. We'll be respectful of your privacy but available for any assistance you may need. The stocked river is teeming with largemouth and Guadalupe bass, catfish, sunfish, and rainbow trout, and can be an excellent place for beginning anglers (you can even borrow equipment for free). Pedernales Falls State Park is only 35 miles away. Swimming at holes, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and birding are a few of the quintessential outdoor Texan activities visitors enjoy most at Pedernales State Park, located near the area of Texas Hill Country where former President Lyndon B. Johnson grew up. Next to the famed Pedernales River, the park is an hour west of Austin, an hour east of Fredericksburg, and about 20 minutes from downtown Johnson City. Wineries and distilleries are a short drive away in nearby Dripping Springs and Stonewall. Pets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them.
