We loved this camp spot for my family of 5! It’s close to town ,but also excluded and felt safe with kids. The road to the site was easy to navigate in our Suburban. We had fun to playing the little creek crossings and coming back to this spot after playing in the black hills during the day.

This spot was amazing. We ended up booking both site 1 & 3 to be completely alone and it was perfect. You can watch the sunset on the Black Hills every night or take a walk on the public land right next to it every morning with your dogs. You are within an hour of major Black Hill attractions but Spearfish Canyon is right down the road and worth the visit as well. Laure was very easy to communicate and get a hold of if we needed anything. We will be back!

I will be going back to this spot to stay longer than one night. So peaceful and quiet. As I was heading to my tent for the night I spotted two elk heading up the mountain. Very cool thing to encounter.

Absolutely loved this wild and quiet spot deep in nature. I didn’t see a single person while I was there, which made it perfect for disconnecting and enjoying the outdoors. The surrounding forest is beautiful, and waking up to the view from my rooftop tent was unforgettable.
A few things to keep in mind: if it rains, the creeks can rise fast and the road out can become tricky. I wouldn’t recommend trying it in a sedan—my F-150 handled it just fine, but smaller cars might struggle. Make sure you’re prepared for rough terrain if the weather turns.
If you’re looking for solitude, natural beauty, and a bit of adventure, this spot is a gem.

We stayed here in an apocalyptic thunder, lightening and rain storm! Rained almost 2 inches in 3 hours. The site has a wooden platform, and has a gravel base. It was perfect! No mud and easy to drive out the next day. It was private and the birds were singing. I would stay here again.

Perfectly far away from anyone and a short 5-10 min drive into town. I loved everything about this place. We brought our dog who gets obsessed with anyone just passing by, and he was calm the whole time. Very nice!!

The atmosphere is calming and peaceful, away from any hustle and hustle of tourism. Bears Den is less than an hour from any popular attraction in the area, including Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Available are some canvas tents, set up like a bedroom at home. Also available is a small cabin, as well as sites to set up your own tent. I was able to use my hammock, with a few trees close enough to do so, in my tent site. Tammy is very warm and welcoming Hostess. She'll do anything within her power to make you feel more comfortable. She helped make my South Dakota visit the best I could imagine.

Really gorgeous spot. The road is pretty rough coming in, so take it slow and don't do anything crazy. We could hear the river from where we were and it felt very private.

Enjoyed the space very much even though it’s a busy campground. Great location. The tent sites are secluded and peacefully away from all the trailers and campers. Hot showers were a treat. Recommend arriving before dark if possible — arrival without light was not easy. More light/reflectors on signage would be helpful!

An excellent RV resort campground. It has everything you need plus! Conveniently located right on Rte 16 just a few miles off of I-90 and close to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and downtown Rapid City. A great place to stay, wish we had more than one night.

We enjoyed our stay in Bear Den’s glamping tent so much that we extended our vacation an additional day. Tammy is fantastic and her place is quiet and beautiful. She has included everything you need for a relaxing and fun stay. We loved the stars at night.

This was a beautiful spot. Though the sites are fairly close together, it still felt secluded when facing the trees. We stayed at a water/electric site typically meant for RVs but used it for tent camping, so we had plenty of space. The site had a picnic table, fire pit, and trees perfect for hammocks. The ground is rocky, so keep that in mind if you’re using an air mattress. You may hear generators from nearby RVs, but overall everyone was quiet and respectful. Bathrooms and showers were clean and a short walk away. The campground was easy to find, and Jennifer was very responsive and accommodating.

Clean and well laid out campground. Everything is tucked in the trees, so plenty of shade. Lots for kids to do with mini golf, bags, pool, and live music Friday evenings. This was a solo trip, but will definitely be bringing the family back!
