The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation. Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family. Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today. Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

3.5 acre property, last remaining part of old inlet horse farm, with plenty of natural buffers from the few neighbors in our vicinity and between our camp sites, as well as the road. So close to everything the inlet area has to offer. Beaches, tidal inlet with boat ramps, Waccamaw River with boat ramps, restaurants, shops, bars, State Parks, nature preserves, fun attractions and much, much more, all just moments away. We are set up as a “primitive” camping experience, the property is kept very natural, unmanicured for the most part, little to no herbicides or insecticides used here. It’s a work in progress, is difficult for me to tackle chores due to physical disabilities, so some private areas are disorganized at this time. I live here full time, with two cats & 5 chickens whom are all free range. I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, rabbits, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in the future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free. Additions to come soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area (not built yet) and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but gatherings, campfires, games and fun always welcome. I prefer meeting guests apon arrival to answer any questions and help all feel comfortable. I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.

Your site backs up to the Edisto Beach State Park where there are miles of amazing hiking and biking trails running through the maritime forest, and while on the trails you can visit the State Park's Environmental Learning Center to take part in their incredible interactive exhibits and learn about the natural history of the island and it's sea life. You will definitely want to spend time exploring or just relaxing on the beautiful beaches teaming with seashells. If you have a boat, feel free to bring it with you when you come, we are very close to the Live Oak Landing boat ramp where I took the picture of the sunset. As the day winds down to an end you can relax by a campfire or just head inside and kick back and watch a movie from the library of dvd's that are available. The bed is a queen and the dining table area can turn into a full bed. I look forward to having you here to make Edisto Island your next playground.

We have our home on the backside of the property but are more than willing to share our beautiful spot for travelers that may need a place to stay to visit Beaufort or Parris Island or even an overflow spot when Hunting Island cannot accommodate you every day. Learn more about this land: Private, semi-woodsy, Level site with water, septic, and electricity, can accommodate up to 60' Diesel Pushers, and 5th wheels. We have 30 amp and 50 amp for larger campers, as well as your Internet for the site. The Atlantic Ocean is 12 miles away if you want to visit the beautiful Hunting Island. Several saltwater boat landings within 2-5 miles. Historic Beaufort 3 miles, Paris Island 6 miles, swimming, fishing, surfing, shrimping all within 5-10 minutes. Bring your RV and your boat.

Edenhope Farms is nestled on 6 acres and is a sanctuary for rescued and unique animals. We have a Zebu bull, which are the oldest recorded bovine in history, dating back to the Bible. We have goats and peacocks, chickens, a potbellied pig, rescued squirrels, and rescued ducks. Soon to come.... Sheep!!! My property used to be the disposal site for the CocaCola bottling Company. Go on a scavenger hunt and find old bottles. Relax around the fire pit and listen to owls, wild geese, bull frogs and the Quack Pack. Lounge on the spacious deck overlooking all the farm animals or take a dip in the swimming pool. At night grill on the BBQ or have an oyster roast. We do have an indoor toilet for you to use and an outdoor shower. Go for a walk through the woods, do yoga, head to Hunting Island beach which is 10 miles or drive 3 miles to historic downtown Beaufort. We are also close to Parris Island and many other historical sites. While here you can enjoy historical tours of Beaufort County’s earliest years of the Santa Helena colony in the mid 1600’s, the revolutionary war period, the pre-civil war and plantation time period and the antebellum, reconstruction history up to the Civil Rights visits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Historic Penn Center. The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing, hiking and canoeing. Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters. Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels. There are bike lanes on many of the major roads. Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, hiking, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching. There are a few special events throughout the year, Gullah Festival-May, Water Festival-July, Shrimp Festival-October, Beaufort Food Truck Festival-October, Soft Shell Crab Festival-April, Pat Conroy Festival-November, Heritage Days Festival-November, Night on the Town-December. There’s something for everyone. COME VISIT!!!

There is also a futon for additional guests.. There is a floor in the dome and both small screen windows and full panel windows for airflow and to keep out bugs. The sandcastle is a "glamping" tent. :-) Because it gets cold in the evenings, we have special insulation in the cooler months to keep you warm, along with duvet and blanket there is also a heater for winter and small ac for summer. The bathroom is private. It is VERY IMPORTANT that only toilet paper goes in the toilet. We have a super sensitive septic system. We have a small trashcan for any feminine products etc. You have your own parking spot and there is a short 30 foot trail to your yurt. Food and restaurants are very nearby in town and I provide a complete list of all my recommendations.For guests who stay in the Sandcastle, there is an outdoor shower, a pool, Also, a kitchenette and grill, fridge, sink, and personal fire pit are available for your use.We have an aquaponic pond with koi that feed our hydroponic vegetable garden and multiple bee hives that pollinate everything. We also have many fruit trees on the property. There is a pond for our ducks, and the intracoastal river that is just a walk down the street.Check out is no later than noon.Guests are encouraged to explore the 6 acre property, relax by the pond, on the deck or by the pool. Unfortunately you just can’t go behind the gates without me.There is access to a outdoor fire pit (wood is available for purchase), the outdoor shower and an outhouse.High-speed internet is provided free of charge. It only works closer to the main house, so you may have to sit outside to access it. Download those movies! There are two grocery stores within a couple of miles away.Our own eggs, honey and vegetables are available for purchase. Price per night does not include breakfast.Other things to noteIf you want to relax in a rural environment and experience a food-based, makers community then this is the place for you.The property has multiple dwellings and many shared spaces. When you are staying on the property please close the gate as you come and go. When your stay is done, DO NOT worry about closing the gate, I will take care of it.Please clean up after your pets.
