Weekend Trip to Kitchen Girl Farm

The farm is nice and the area is peaceful. The kitchen is a plus – it made meal clean up easy. The campsite is near a road and a couple of homes but the road isn’t busy and the neighbors are very friendly. It’s a good place to stay if you would like to bike the NCR Trail. The White Hall NCR Trail Parking lot is just a few miles away. Buy the eggs!

Marty was extremely easy to communicate with, very accommodating as well. The campsite was wonderful. Everything you need. Nice & quiet. Plenty of space. Would absolutely stay again in a heartbeat.

Weekend Trip to Scenic Turtle Ridge

Had a great time! Weather was a bit dreary, but nothing terrible. The land is beautiful, Tom is awesome. Site 3 is on a slope, I’d definitely recommend for hammock camping. Trees are well spaced for it.

Weekend Trip to Kitchen Girl Farm

I loved camping at Kitchen Girl Farm. It is stunning out there. We stayed at the site next to the barn and used the grill and got to hang out by the blooming daffodils. In the morning we woke up and made coffee and went on a little walk around the property. It was so peaceful and the historic barn is so beautiful. Such a pleasant stay so close to Baltimore but you feel so tucked away in the country.

Many spots to camp including car camping or in our case a Van! Scott and his wife were great to talk to and we enjoyed our nice quiet night. We even learned a little bit about the tree farming! Thanks so much!

Weekend Trip to Camp Douglass - Schuylkill River

This place is a fantastic river side get away. The trail is a little tight so if you are bringing a bigger truck either have a spotter or be experienced. The host is very nice and approachable, the site is covered with mulch and is a very nice touch. Great little fishing spot of weekend getaway. We cannot wait to return.

David has setup a beautiful campsite in a relaxing and peaceful location. He is very informative of the do’s and do-nots of his property while also being incredibly easy going. The stonework ( all done by David ) is very well done and gives the camping area a very medieval vibe. Definitely would recommend this site to anybody looking for a private and relaxing camping experience.

My bf and I had a great time staying at Sandy and John’s cabin! They were very welcoming along with their dog. Got to see beavers swimming in their stream from the cabin window. Feed the goats and chickens. Would definitely stay again!

Plenty of free, fallen branches for firewood. Great access to Hibernia park trail. Bathroom was nice and clean and well supplied. Be aware the driveway will be challenging for cars with poor ground clearance.

3 nights at FernRock Retreat

The hosts are very kind, accommodating, and communicative. The cabin felt loved and was clean and comfortable. It even had some basic cooking equipment, and plenty of sleeping spots and firewood. The property also features kayaks, a treehouse, and a walking trail in the nearby woods. I would recommend Fern Rock Campground for any group or occasion, anyone looking to reconnect with nature, and a pair of good boots for the trail. 10/10 would HipCamp again!

Shambala at Mystic Hollow

Pitch your tent along Irish Creek under a canopy of Maples at Mystic Hollow. Irish Creek, which is a stream, is a tributary to the Schuylkill River. Site are a 5 minute walk from main house. The land is flat for walking to the camping area. A slight bit bumpy in a small area. I can manage just fine in flip flops but I did want to provide the information if anyone would be using a wheelchair. There is also a small bridge that goes over a small strip of wetlands. Fire rings are included. Tables can be provided. Just let us know ahead of time. I can haul your gear to your spot with tractor and wagon if needed. I have electric available. There is a port-a-potty close by. Showers and bathrooms are in the main house. Please let us know in advance if you would like to use them. Open fire cooking grills can be provided if needed. I have a sink set up for washing dishes, etc.. The fresh water is from our well located on the property. We are flexible with check-in and check-out times if we are not at full capacity. Just let us know ahead of time if you want to check in or out earlier or later. We allow dogs. They must be on leashes unless they are friendly and play well with others. You must clean up your dog's poop! No exceptions! We are 5 minutes from the Schuylkill River. 10 minutes from Ontelaunee Lake. 15 minutes from Blue Marsh. 15 minutes from the Appalacian Trail. Trail heads nearby would be Port Clinton, Hamburg, Bernville, Bethel, Blue Rocks, Kempton... 20 minutes from Hawk Mountain. We are an hour from Jim Thorpe. There are several wineries in the area including Long Trout Winery where wine is cool and hippy chicks rule! My favorite! Lots of wildlife in the area. Expect to hear owls, blue heron, cows, goats, chickens, horses, hawks, eagles, dogs, racoons and coyotes. There is a good chance of being visited by racoons at night if your food isn't stored away properly. Also, the deer may walk past in the middle of the night as well. We do also get wild turkey during different times of the year. Hiking, kayaking, tubing, fishing, mountain biking, bike trails, etc... all nearby. Sadly there are no fish in Irish Creek worth catching. The Crayfish are! As with any land situated along a water source, there is always a possibility of flooding. We flood maybe once a year, once every other year. If that should happen, we will assist in hauling gear. There is higher ground for tents to be set up if need be. There will also be rooms available to rent in the near future. Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions. 420 friendly. LGBTQ friendly. If you are coming from out of state: Pennsylvania has a quarantine order for untreated firewood entering the state to protect its forests from invasive species. Firewood must be kiln dried, heat treated, fumigated, or USDA certified to enter the state. However, commercially imported wood that has been heat-treated according to USDA regulations typically doesn't fall under these bans.

Nestled in a wooded setting with open fields to view an array of wildlife. Learn about Amish way of life. Enjoy a variety of farm animals as well as wildlife. Milk a Cow. Collect farm eggs. Amish buggy rides and farm tours every day but Sundays. Sites 1, 2, 3 and 4 can accommodate tent campers and RVs. Sites 1 2 and 3 are approximately 10 ft apart and spacious. all sites have fire pits. Site 1 ,2 ,3 and 4 have picnic tables. All Sites have charcoal grills. Will need your own charcoal, lighter fluid and foil for grate. Site 3 also has a grill attached to pit. Please be specific at booking if you are tent or RV camping and approx. length of RV. We book rain or shine so please be prepared according to weather forecast. What to expect.. This is a farm with many animals so please be aware that the rooster may crow very early. The goats may be noisy at anytime day or night. Most cases they are quiet at night but not always. The cows bellow and horses will whinny throughout the day. Farms also have farm smells so be aware it is not always pleasant. For the most part the campfires over ride the farm smells which is great!! Please check our add ons. We will have fire wood available for purchase if you need it. Farm fresh eggs and seasonal garden vegetables may also be available. Amish baked goods may be purchased when available. We are 5 minutes from a 5000 acre park that boasts miles of marked trails for horseback riding, hiking or biking through rough or paved terrain. There is a creek for swimming also. Bring your own horses. We have stalls available or set up your own paddock next to your site. We have hay and straw available for purchase.

Six years later, the first tree was sold and since then, the farm has expanded its operations to Bernville, Pa. Camp on our 16 acre Christmas tree farm in an Amish neighbors with horses. Within 30 minute drive to Hershey park, Mt Gretna , Lebanon, Lancaster, Harrisburg, York. Enjoy hiking and biking trails nearby and the many attractions. We have excellent cell reception on our farm. Great view for star gazing and sunsets. Firewood available for purchase. We have a stone parking lot for RV campers. Two sites can also accommodate RV’s. We will reserve these sites. Tent campers can set up in the trees and lanes. An outdoor portable toilet is available and water is available at an outside spigot. We are open April through October. We have 6 sites available with fire pits. You are able to drive and park next to the site. Sites are available first come first served. Four persons per site additional $5 per night fee for extra guests. We sell Miller’s Christmas tree farms stickers. Our sites have excellent cell coverage.
