Included are two power and potable water sites, up to 8 guest. Power pedestals have 50-30 and 20 amps at each location. Both locations have a 50' power extensions(30amp) and extra water hoses if needed. There are two picnic tables, fire pit, extra seating, garbage, WIFI and one portable toilet on site for use during your stay.
There is no septic on site for gray or black waste There is a dump site approx. 1 mile west.

Just across the street starts the Canal Trail that heads East and West. A 5 min bike ride East along the trail will take you to a Fred Meyer Grocery store, Starbucks, and much much more. Or take the Canal Trail West through the massive 123+ acres of forested public land that connects directly to the Deschutes River Trail (only 4 mins away). Once there, the outdoor activities are endless! Great fishing, bouldering, biking, swimming, rafting, and nature viewing spots are all within a couple minute walk from our home. Heading to the Old Mill or Hayden Homes Amphitheater for some shopping, a concert, restaurants, or drinks? It all starts 3/4 of a mile down the hill! TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.
Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.

Our house is located in Wood River Village. It is the beginning of where the Deschutes River bends as it comes into the town of Bend. One can quickly and easily walk to the river trail from our house. By going up river, one gets the sense of being remote and in the forest along a well maintained trail that makes a 3 miles loop with many rapids visible from the trail. By walking down river, one can quickly access Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Old Mill shopping and Downtown on a paved walking path. We have a private, single site located on the banks of the McKenzie River in Rainbow, Oregon. The campsite is near our home, but feels private. The access driveway and site size make it best for camper vans and smaller RV’s. Long trailers, large RV’s and tent camping are not permitted at this time. The 2 mile loop around the neighborhood is scenic and lush with irrigation during the summer months. The 2 fenced acres immediately north of the camping area are for your enjoyment. All of this and more, only 10 minutes from town.
Please note that while good separation exists between your accommodations and our primary residence, you should expect to see and hear us around the property on occasion. Lastly, we are at the far corner of a 2 mile gravel loop, making the drive into our property slow and dusty - and also private!

I drove ten hours to get to this amazing spot and I’m so glad that I did. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Steve has created an absolutely magical paradise along the river, and I can’t wait to go back.
There are numerous places to choose from where you can park and all of the views are spectacular. There are seating areas up above the river where you can make breakfast and relax or you can take a short walk (a few stairs) down to the river and enjoy numerous seating areas down there.
The sound of the river is so therapeutic. You just get lost in it. There’s a fire pit where you can relax and plenty of space to set up your stuff. It was raining while I was there and host Steve was fine with me setting up a pop-up over the fire pit to keep it dry and create a space outside to relax even in the rain.
Speaking of Steve, he is wonderful. The perfect host. He checked in and let me know he was available but also gave plenty of privacy. I needed to borrow a tarp and he helped immediately. He’s knowledgeable of the area and super easy going.
The area has so many things to see and do. I went to numerous waterfalls and on so many beautiful hikes. Sisters, Oregon is only an hour away and such a cute spot to go grab coffee and lunch. The coffee shop a mile down the road makes THE BEST lattes and has a cute little gift shop attached.
I really can’t express enough how perfect this spot is. Steve has put his whole heart into making a space for people to enjoy.

We love this Upriver spot!! It was our second time staying here. It's a perfect set up for groups with both RV's and tent campers. Lots of space, with a large fire pit and walking trails down to the river. Steve keeps it tidy with just the right amount of yard art and additional landscaping. He lives on site, so he's available if you need anything, but keeps to himself. The location is great for golfing, fishing, hiking--with easy access to the Willamette National Forest.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Upriver Paradise and it was truly a delightful experience for us and our friends who came along with their trailer too! Plenty of room for both of us to park our trailers with riverfront views. Beautiful, private spot in the forest along a picturesque river, a perfect escape into nature! The scenery is amazing and Steve has done a fantastic job putting his personal touches all around this retreat! We enjoyed the soothing sound of the flowing river, it's a great spot for relaxation. It’s also a great spot for exploring near by waterfalls, hot springs and lakes! The grounds are well-maintained, with the cleanest porta potty you will ever see. There are plenty of chairs, picnic tables and benches throughout the retreat as well. Overall, I highly recommend Upriver for anyone looking to connect with nature. We can't wait to return!

My dog, Panzer, and I had a great stay here! We had originally booked site 4, but due to a no-show Cheryl said we could set-up in site 5, which gave us a ton of room to spread out that I didn't expect. It can be dusty, but I'm used to that in Central Oregon - having the gravel road cuts down on the dust quite a bit too (personally, I packed up my tent in the gravel). I was surprised by the complete lack of bugs, which was a great highlight. And I loved how close the restroom was - even being in the furthest camping spot, it's maybe a 2-minute walk. Once we got the lay of the land, the best part was being able to let Panzer run off-leash - he had a grand ol' time traversing the terrain. It was nice that Cheryl kept checking in on us as well - very personable and a great conversationalist.
