Although Portland is Oregon’s largest city, it still retains a woodsy forest feel, offering the ideal mix of natural beauty and urban appeal that makes it ideal for glamping. It’s not uncommon for Portlanders to have yurts, treehouses, and even tipis in their backyards, and while some people maintain backyard glamping setups purely for the sake of summertime “home camping,” plenty of others open their spaces up for travelers to rent. There are also a few public parks within easy reach of Portland—including Champoeg State Heritage Area—that offer campgrounds with heated yurts. Just be aware that Portland gets a lot of rain, and while summers are generally dry, it’s wise to be prepared for downpours no matter when you visit. Just look for a glampsite that offers a good amount of protection from the rain (and maybe a heater) and you’ll be fine.

Absolutely love Amy & Eric's tiny cabin. This made the top of our list of hip camps. The property was beautiful. The cabin was immaculate and designed beautifully. The outdoor shower and kitchen was amazing! The outhouse was nice and clean and doesn't smell. We saw a couple deer that went past the cabin, pretty awesome. We loved glamping at Paula's farm! She was very friendly and helpful getting us set up with what we needed. The pre-set tent was super cozy and full of extras (bedside table, chairs, lantern, blanket) and the bathroom facility was very clean with nice hot showers! It was perfect for our friend's first time camping! There was some neighbor noise one of the evenings we stayed and some dog barking from the adorable working dog Etta, but we were totally fine sleeping with earplugs. Definitely hoping to come back!

We had fun staying at Michelle's property. It was a nice little getaway for my son's 12th bday. Michelle was very accommodating and welcoming. She also shared a lot of great information about animals in her property especially horses. We learned so much from her and we are thankful for that. Our family got to experience riding Sacred before we checked out today and she was amazing with my kiddos. We are definitely coming back to try trail ride. We really enjoyed the beautiful tipi, the lovely spot, and proximity to so many wonderful attractions. The hot outdoor shower, sink and fresh eggs were much appreciated! Yes, by the busy road, but not a bother for us. We liked popping out to the nearby fruit and bakery stands. Great spot—we look forward to coming back.

Very dog friendly and perfect for a spontaneous glamping escape from Portland. So nice to have access to the full bathroom and shower, especially in the summer heat. Lauren and Jeremy were great hosts, helpful and quick to respond to messages before, during and after our trip.

My stay at the Bunkhouse was an incredibly rejuvenating stay beyond my expectations! Kymberlie and her family are the loveliest people, and made me feel so welcomed and comfortable for my weekend away. The bunkhouse itself exudes a cozy and nurturing energy that just welcomes you to sink right in and enjoy the peaceful environment - with so many comfy areas to sit and hang out, a cloud-like bed, and all the amenities needed to prepare food and coffee. It was lovely to walk through the trails on their land, and soak in the beautiful gardens tended with so much care! I took a weekend offline and never wanted to come back 😅 For me, this place inspires creative energy and a return to my soul. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to spend time out here in this little slice of paradise, thank you again so, so much! 💚🌸

The owners are so kind and showed me around on arrival and let me know where to find what I needed. The site is near the historic Hwy 30 and there is some noise during the day, but the night was quiet. There were rabbits and chickens and ample space to lounge around!

Weekend Trip to Garden & Galaxy PDX Urban Retreat

Shannon’s garden felt like a magical hidden urban escape. We were right in the heart of Portland with an easy drive to anywhere we wanted to go. The backyard cottage was very private and relaxing - but we spent most of our time there sitting in the garden enjoying it. We loved meeting Danny the dog and Shannon’s food and coffee recommendations (of which we used one for every meal during our stay) knocked it out of the park. Her hospitality was the difference between Portland as a stopover for us and a vacation stop we wish we’d had more time at. Definitely recommend!

Trent's place was absolutely magical. The property is private and beautifully forested, with the perfect balance of sunny spots and woody retreats. The twinkle lights and tiki torches created such a warm, inviting ambiance in the evenings, and the entire space felt perfectly set to help guests relax and unwind. The accommodations were thoughtfully and simply outfitted. We appreciated the provided firewood, cooler and ice, stove, and just the right selection of kitchen essentials to make coffee and fresh scrambled eggs, generously provided by the chickens who live up the hill. The decor was rustic and charming, the bed was comfortable, and everything felt cozy without sacrificing any of the natural ambiance. The wood-fired hot tub was the highlight of our stay. Trent had it warmed up and ready for us when we arrived, and we made great use of it throughout our visit. It was such a special touch and made the experience feel truly memorable. The land itself is stunning. My girls loved exploring, lounging, and enjoying the freedom of being immersed in nature. The property strikes that rare balance of feeling wonderfully wild and peaceful while still offering enough thoughtful amenities to feel pampered. Trent was an exceptional host. He communicated clearly, was friendly and helpful whenever needed, and also gave us plenty of privacy to enjoy the space on our own. We loved every minute of our stay and will absolutely be booking again. Highly recommended!
