My family has owned the ranch since 1977. We bought it from my parents a few years ago to keep it in the family. We love living here, and although it is just the two of us working it, we are slowly getting it to what we want it to be. The house we live in is over 100 years old and used to be a stage coach stop back in the late 1800's to early 1900's, You can still see some of the old stage coach roads on the property, and we are trying to preserve those the best we can. Also in the early 1900's this ranch used to be the place to go on the fourth of July. People from all over would bring their prize horses to compete in a horse race for the name of the fastest horses around While others would bring picnic baskets to set back on the knoll in one of our fields to watch. Learn more about this land:We are a 500 Acre working ranch located in Beautiful East Central Oregon, We are Between The stunning Painted Hills, and Umatilla National Forest. Just a few miles away from the Gorgeous John Day River, where Rafting, Tubing, Fishing, Swimming is always a welcome retreat. A few miles above us is Bull Prairie Lake and the wonderful Umatilla National Forest where hiking, sight seeing and wildlife viewing is always available.

We are located in the heart of Antelope, a rural (near) Ghost town that is rich in history and culture. We are already seeing a huge influx of cyclists and motorcycles in the area that have no place to camp, so we decided to change that! There is a bathhouse onsite as part of the Pavilion structure. Please do not park on grass, unless you are an RV Space with partial hookups that has made arrangements with park host. Thank you for visiting and having patience while we continue to fix up the property.

Welcome to our family's Private Campground - The Desert Rose. A boondocking site for you and your family to enjoy! We have a Yurt, a cabin, 3 RV/Travel trailer pads and 2 tent sites created here and plenty of room for everyone to have their own space yet be all together. You can book the entire campground, or just one of the units. Whether it's just you, or you're bringing a crew, we know you'll love it here! Our favorite hikes in the Central Oregon area is Smith Rocks and Chimney Rock. The Prineville reservoir is roughly a 12 minute drive and the starry nights here are something to behold. Up the road is the most unique petting zoo that we recently found! Find it and you might just be able to hold a baby kangaroo! Boondocking site means there is no hook-ups or running water so you'll want to bring in your own water and heat if you're here in the colder months. Your four legged furry family members are welcomed! They must be accompanied at all times and not left on the property alone. The dog run is for you to keep closer tabs on them while relaxing, not for leaving them while going into town or enjoying the area. The dirt is very soft and it wouldn't take very long for them to dig under to get out and go looking for you. The cabin or yurt is also not a pet storage area - with no power or AC, pets are not allowed to be left alone in the dwellings.

20mi from Mitchell · 6 sites · Tents, RVs
Horseman's Haven Ranch and Mountain Camp sits on 322 acres of mountain terrain at 3,700–4,700 ft, bordering the Ochoco National Forest. The land is a mix of lodgepole pine, blue spruce, and juniper, with natural springs, steep trails, small valleys, and expansive mountain views. Wildlife trails wind throughout the property, and horses roam freely. This is a fully off-grid (no electrical hookups), camping experience ideal for those seeking quiet, solitude, and fresh mountain air. We offer a mix of private and communal designated campsites suitable for tents, vans, and RVs (site compatibility depends on your rig size/type). Communal Traeger and blackstone available for cooking. Guests must be fully self-contained, pack it in/pack it out. Spring water from a spigot is available for filling your tank/container. The property has a long, storied past, once home to a 19th-century cinnabar mine. Remnants of this history can still be found around the property. Days here are perfect for hiking, rockhounding, birdwatching, mountain biking, and exploring nearby public lands. Nights bring incredible stargazing and cool mountain air. We don't offer horseback riding, but for those interested, horsemanship experiences are available. Or bring your own horse! We have pens available. Access is via paved highway to the ranch, with dirt roads on the property. Most campsites are accessible w/out 4WD in good conditions; high clearance is helpful and 4WD may be necessary seasonally, and depending on the site you choose. The town of Prineville is 20 miles away for supplies, with destinations like Prineville Reservoir, Walton Lake, and the Painted Hills all within easy reach. Please note: terrain can be uneven and steep; leveling blocks recommended for vehicles. Wood fires allowed only when seasonal restrictions permit and must be fully extinguished nightly; propane fire pits allowed when local fire restrictions permit. ATT works on the ranch, but Verizon is spotty. We welcome respectful guests who love nature, animals, and the quiet rhythms of off-grid living. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or a basecamp for exploring Central Oregon, this mountain has a spirit all its own, and we’re excited to share it with you.

The Star Colony | Earth-001

18. The Star Colony | Earth-001

41mi from Mitchell · 1 site · Tent, RV
Welcome to Earth-001 — the founding site of The Star Colony. This is two acres of private high-desert land in Central Oregon: raw, open, and quiet, surrounded by big skies, mountain views, and some of the darkest nights you'll find in the state. It is undeveloped on purpose. You are arriving before anything is built — and that is exactly the point. The Star Colony is the first node of a planned network of real-world survival-and-exploration colonies. Earth-001 is where it begins, and right now it is Phase Zero: the founding era, before the first structure rises. What makes this stay different You're not just renting a campsite. When you book, you can become a Founding Colonist of Earth-001 — claim a colonist ID, receive your first on-site mission, and add your name to the founding registry. Founding numbers are permanent and assigned in order. The people who come now are, quite literally, first. On the land, in near future, you'll find a QR "deployment briefing" that walks you through it in two minutes. Your colonist identity is yours to keep, and it will carry forward as the colony — and the wider network — grows. A phone-based AR preview of the planned pyramid is in development for this site. Ask the host about current availability — when it's live, you'll be able to stand on the land and see the future structure rise at full scale.
