"Enchanting, magical, uplifting" -- those are words used recently by our guests, describing this wonderful space. Twelve sides, windows all around, surrounded by nature, yet close to town.

Picture a cabin made of cedar and glass. It has wi-fi, heated or cooled to your comfort, a super-comfortable queen-sized bed with memory foam, a chair for reading, a fold-out desk, and a table and a coffee pot. All the bare essentials, in one place.
(Not in all the the photos — we've added lush, room-darkening curtains all around for privacy and to aid those who prefer sleeping later.)
It's situated to be rustic and inspirational, nestled into the back corner of a deep lot. There are fruit trees all around and a seasonal pond that attracts ducks in the spring and early summer. Depending on the season, you can listen to birds and frogs from inside the roundhouse, or cross the footbridge to the south-facing deck behind the workshop -- another private space for your "get away from the bustle" contemplations. Or enjoy the firepit.
Follow the wending path to the front fence and everything is nearby.
The bathroom (with tub and shower) is at the rear of the main house, right near the back door (about 30 yards from the roundhouse). It's private and only barely shared. (We have another bath-and-a-half elsewhere in the house.) We have a clever curtaining and folding wall system that can give you extra privacy if you want it. You'll be left as alone as you choose to be during your visit.
With a little bit of planning, we're happy to share our full kitchen with you during daylight hours. Same with the laundry room.
We're sharing our home with you, so we ask you to be respectful of that. We love to brag about Eugene and Oregon, and we're happy to share what we have and what we know.
We cannot guarantee that your visit with us will be enchanted and uplifting, but that's what we hope it will be. We'll do what we can to make it so.
Our listings include a 9.5% room tax assessed by the city of Eugene. Those added funds are used to promote tourism and other good things around Lane County.
Guest access
Late arrivals are easy to facilitate. The house is easy to find, even in the dark. The street is well lit and we have path lights to guide you to the roundhouse. Since it's a completely separate building, there's no need to worry about waking anyone. "We'll leave the light on for you," as they say.
What will you need? Fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven -- all yours. Laundry, full kitchen, yard, neighborhood -- shared. (Just ask.) We have gorgeous red velvet theatre curtains and a clever folding glass wall to divide spaces, but the intent is to remain permeable for hospitality's sake.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
#1. After over eight years on airbnb, this space is often "taken" for most times. If you'd like to try a similarly inventive space, on the same property, employing much of the same geometry (but larger and self-contained), check out our aloft apartment.
#2. Before you confirm your reservation, please double-check certain details. Have you inputted the correct dates and are you reserving for the correct number of (human) guests? This is important because those details may alter the price you're being quoted. (We give solo travelers the lowest possible rate. All others pay a bit more.)
#3. Our check-in time is usually (anytime after) 3 pm. Occasionally, we can accommodate early arrivals, or luggage drop-off before the space is cleaned. We always appreciate knowing roughly when you expect to arrive. That helps us prepare.
#4. We send all our guests an email with detailed instructions and up-to-the-minute details for their visit. Please include your best email address when you make your reservation.
#5. We have a (slight) presence on social media, so if you feel the urge to take pictures and share it with your friends, we'd love it if you'd tag us at "oreroundhouse" and "dksez"....
#6 We welcome dogs and other pets, but we ask for a couple of things. First, do let us know when you're bringing critters with you. Second, please don't let them roam our yard unleashed. The fence has holes. Third, leaving pets unattended for long stretches inside hasn't worked very well. Gnawed furniture, yelping, too much hair on the bedspread -- that sort of thing. We have two dog parks within walking distance, so there will be opportunities for them to enjoy themselves too!

There is a large garden, and when growing season is on, we may send you packing with some fresh greens or veggies! If you see us out and about, feel free to come say hello or ask questions.

Our farm is nestled at the end of Honey Grove Valley in the lush coastal mountains. The creek meanders through our seven acre property. The north side contains a field, small orchard, greenhouses and barn. The south side is steep and wooded with healthy riparian. An extension to the Honey Grove trail leads out of the property accessing a user maintained hiking/mountain biking trail with 1.5, 3, 5 and 7 mile loop options.
Other nearby activities include hiking and mountain biking in Mary's Peak and Alsea Falls recreational area. Access to the Alsea River is located 1.5 miles from the property on Honey Grove Road or at nearby Clemmons Park.
The guest cabin has two rooms and can sleep (4) guests comfortably and up to (6) guests. It contains (2) queen size beds, and one pull out couch. One bed is in a loft accessed by a ship ladder. There is a small kitchen and an un-attached bathhouse. The toilet is non-flush, composting. From the designated parking area there is a 200 foot walk along a gravel path to the cabin.
Other features include a fire pit, wood fired sauna, and creek access for cold dips. Internet is available in the cabin. There is a Level 1 vehicle charger available for guests.
The property also contains a host residence. The area around the residence is for the hosts.
The cabin and the property are very quaint and inviting but also very rustic. Do not be surprised to see a few or many spiders, slugs and other bugs. There are occasional bunnies, wild turkeys, Garter Snakes by the ponds and newts on the trails. Please maintain good situational awareness when enjoying the property as structures and grounds may have some inherent hazards.
The barn is off limits. Greenhouse and gardens are fine to explore as long as doors and gates are closed and dogs are kept out. Please refrain from harvesting produce and/or eggs unless accompanied or given permission from hosts directly.

Our wood-fired sauna is free for you to use during a communal sauna already in session. A private sauna experience can be arranged for a fee. A hot shower is located inside of the sauna house. It is available 24/7 except during other campers private scheduled sauna times. A composting toilet is located near the parking area.
Our campground is small to promote a peaceful experience. We currently offer 2 sites, with a 3rd in progress. The Zem Bungalow is an off-grid glamping experience in a round, wooden, cozy bungalow overlooking the rhododendron garden (max 2), and the Foxglove platform, an 18 x 18 raised wooden platform ready for your tent, in a meadow next to a gently flowing creek (max 4). Four permanent residences also enjoy the beauty of Nelson Mountain Gardens. Each are separate and away from the campsites.
You are welcome to bring your well-behaved dog(s). Limit 2. Horses are welcome with prior approval. Please let us know when booking.
There is no cell phone service in our rural area. Limited wi-fi is available in parts of the rhododendron garden and at the barn for making necessary calls (no downloading, streaming or extended video calls). A phone charging station is located in the sauna house. Parking onsite is free.
Smoking or vaping anything is prohibited inside of any structure on the property. Smoking anything that requires fire is prohibited except for inside of your vehicle or on the paved road off of the property. Vaping is ok anywhere outside.

Welcome to ten acres of open pasture and mixed forest tucked into the hills just outside Glide, Oregon. The land feels spacious yet protected — bordered by trees and crossed by a spring-fed creek that runs year-round through the property.
The creek is shallow in most places, clear and cool, with smooth stones along the bottom. In one bend it widens into a natural swimming hole that stays refreshing through the heat of summer. You can hear the water moving from much of the property steady and calming. A rustic wooden suspection bridge crosses the creek and leads to four tent sites on the far side. Once you cross the bridge, it feels separate — quieter, more tucked in, with filtered light through the trees and a sense of being immersed in nature.
The tent sites are spaced for privacy and simplicity. You wake to birdsong and bubbling crrek sounds. Evenings bring shifting light across the pasture, frogs near the water, and a wide, dark sky once the sun drops behind the trees.
On the main side of the property there is a designated RV site with easy access and open sky above. It sits comfortably within the landscape while remaining separate from the tent sites across the creek.
There is an outdoor shared living room modified carport and one communal fire-pit, where social interactions can be curated with ice breakers and treats.
The 199 sq. ft. yurt sits in the garden area. It has its own small yard space, a short porch, a queen bed, and a simple table and chair. It is uncluttered and comfortable — a quiet place to sleep while still feeling close to the outdoors. The surrounding garden changes with the season, bringing fresh green growth in spring, warmth and fullness in summer.
Friendly horses, goats and chickens live on the property and are accustomed to visitors. They often come near the fence line, curious and calm. Many pleasantries await the curious such as embedded fossils in the cracked mud walls.Nestled amongst towering fir and cedar trees, with windows everywhere, you'll feel and see nature's presence. Recently featured in Southern Oregon Magazine and KCBY 11 TV's ~In Focus~ 'Goin' Green' and Oregon's Solar Home Tour, this is a unique 'green' home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking.
You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies.
The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Enjoy wildlife viewing with River Dippers, Chipmunks, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Screech Owls, Pileated Wood Peckers, Elk, an occasional Bald Eagle or River Otter and other wildlife from the house and back deck. Build a fire and have lunch on the nearby picnic table and benches.

Depending on the season, you can listen to birds and frogs from inside the roundhouse, or cross the footbridge to the south-facing deck behind the workshop -- another private space for your "get away from the bustle" contemplations. Or enjoy the firepit.
Follow the wending path to the front fence and everything is nearby.
The bathroom (with tub and shower) is at the rear of the main house, right near the back door (about 30 yards from the roundhouse). It's private and only barely shared. (We have another bath-and-a-half elsewhere in the house.) We have a clever curtaining and folding wall system that can give you extra privacy if you want it. You'll be left as alone as you choose to be during your visit.
With a little bit of planning, we're happy to share our full kitchen with you during daylight hours. Same with the laundry room.
We're sharing our home with you, so we ask you to be respectful of that. We love to brag about Eugene and Oregon, and we're happy to share what we have and what we know.
We cannot guarantee that your visit with us will be enchanted and uplifting, but that's what we hope it will be. We'll do what we can to make it so.
Our listings include a 9.5% room tax assessed by the city of Eugene. Those added funds are used to promote tourism and other good things around Lane County.
Guest access
Late arrivals are easy to facilitate. The house is easy to find, even in the dark. The street is well lit and we have path lights to guide you to the roundhouse. Since it's a completely separate building, there's no need to worry about waking anyone. "We'll leave the light on for you," as they say.
What will you need? Fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven -- all yours. Laundry, full kitchen, yard, neighborhood -- shared. (Just ask.) We have gorgeous red velvet theatre curtains and a clever folding glass wall to divide spaces, but the intent is to remain permeable for hospitality's sake.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
#1. After over eight years on airbnb, this space is often "taken" for most times. If you'd like to try a similarly inventive space, on the same property, employing much of the same geometry (but larger and self-contained), check out our aloft apartment.
#2. Before you confirm your reservation, please double-check certain details. Have you inputted the correct dates and are you reserving for the correct number of (human) guests? This is important because those details may alter the price you're being quoted. (We give solo travelers the lowest possible rate. All others pay a bit more.)
#3. Our check-in time is usually (anytime after) 3 pm. Occasionally, we can accommodate early arrivals, or luggage drop-off before the space is cleaned. We always appreciate knowing roughly when you expect to arrive. That helps us prepare.
#4. We send all our guests an email with detailed instructions and up-to-the-minute details for their visit. Please include your best email address when you make your reservation.
#5. We have a (slight) presence on social media, so if you feel the urge to take pictures and share it with your friends, we'd love it if you'd tag us at "oreroundhouse" and "dksez"....
#6 We welcome dogs and other pets, but we ask for a couple of things. First, do let us know when you're bringing critters with you. Second, please don't let them roam our yard unleashed. The fence has holes. Third, leaving pets unattended for long stretches inside hasn't worked very well. Gnawed furniture, yelping, too much hair on the bedspread -- that sort of thing. We have two dog parks within walking distance, so there will be opportunities for them to enjoy themselves too!

Our farm is nestled at the end of Honey Grove Valley in the lush coastal mountains. The creek meanders through our seven acre property. Please maintain good situational awareness when enjoying the property as structures and grounds may have some inherent hazards.

Welcome to ten acres of open pasture and mixed forest tucked into the hills just outside Glide, Oregon. The land feels spacious yet protected — bordered by trees and crossed by a spring-fed creek that runs year-round through the property.
The creek is shallow in most places, clear and cool, with smooth stones along the bottom. In one bend it widens into a natural swimming hole that stays refreshing through the heat of summer. There is an outdoor shared living room modified carport and one communal fire-pit, where social interactions can be curated with ice breakers and treats.
The 199 sq. ft. yurt sits in the garden area. It has its own small yard space, a short porch, a queen bed, and a simple table and chair. It is uncluttered and comfortable — a quiet place to sleep while still feeling close to the outdoors. The surrounding garden changes with the season, bringing fresh green growth in spring, warmth and fullness in summer.
Friendly horses, goats and chickens live on the property and are accustomed to visitors. They often come near the fence line, curious and calm. Recently featured in Southern Oregon Magazine and KCBY 11 TV's ~In Focus~ 'Goin' Green' and Oregon's Solar Home Tour, this is a unique 'green' home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking.
You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies.
The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Enjoy wildlife viewing with River Dippers, Chipmunks, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Screech Owls, Pileated Wood Peckers, Elk, an occasional Bald Eagle or River Otter and other wildlife from the house and back deck. A lovely weekend spent listening to the rain as we fell asleep. Woke up to gorgeous views of the suspension bridge, got to take part in a sauna and cold plunge in the river, and even found some newts along the trail. An amazing stay and lovely hosts! The cabin is tidy and cozy. There are a few games to play, and space to relax. We loved hiking the trails and hanging out near the creek. We heard a great horned owl at night. The property is lovely, and there's great communication with the hosts, who are friendly, and made the stay comfortable. The composting toilet doesn't smell bad at all, and the shower is really nice, with pretty mosaic tiles. This is our second stay, and its a great place to relax and play with family. Our kid really loves sleeping in the loft. Great views all around.

The property itself is very beautiful. The cabin has a lot of charm and character and it was nice being right next to the creek with the sound of the water. Communication with the host was both great before and during our stay. They were super helpful with getting the sauna going when we reached out. The cabin was clean and it was nice to have some legit cookware including stainless steel pots and pans and a cast iron skillet as opposed to the scratched Teflon at so many places. The kitchen has the basics like salt, pepper, and cooking oil. The wood burning stove has a good draw and heats the place well. Nice dried bundles were already next to the cabin for a very reasonable cost of $5 per bundle. There is an electric heating unit in both the kitchen and the bedroom. The only caveat being that they're not suppose to run at the same time. The cabin was really lovely along with the great host so we definitely recommend staying here.

The cabin is so well thought-out, and it's lovely to see the creativity and time that has gone into this property. It's so nice to be able to walk right out the door and hike their private trails, listen to the creek, and relax. We arrived right after fire restrictions were lifted, so we were able to use the outdoor fire pit and look at the stars. We also used the sauna every day we were there. It has an electric sauna heater and a small woodstove, so you can choose your heat source, and the short little path down to the cold dip in the creek is genius. Some folks in reviews have mentioned the composting toilets--as some of our group lives entirely off-grid, we were actually taking pictures of their setup because it's really well designed. Just think of all the water you're saving in the world. The property itself is well cared for, and their little dog is such a cutie. We would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Winberry Walden
What a beautiful spot! The stark contrast between a hi-tech unit set in a remote nature space is awesome. 🤩 The deer in the yard & sunrise behind the trees was beautiful! Stars are super visible & there are multiple waterfall hikes nearby & it’s only 30 min outside Eugene. We appreciated the local info the host provided & the Nespresso & top tier toiletries & snacks. The shower & Biobedet & everything LED was just so cool! We will definitely be back again!

We loved staying at the Alsea family farms creek cabin! Where to begin?! The hosts were so kind and left us veggies and fresh strawberries picked from their garden on the property. Also a fresh vase of flowers sat on the kitchen table when we arrived which was so thoughtful. The cabin has a private hiking trail that was so peaceful and lovely. The streams and small series of bridges behind the cabin was charming and peaceful. I sat on the bigger footbridge for breakfast one morning taking in the surroundings. Small and all children not connected to devices especially would love to explore around near the creek and look and listen for critters. For the space itself was beautiful clean with everything you need. Bedding was lovely to look at comfortable to sleep in and clean. One thing that might throw certain people off would be the composting toilet. The management team works hard maintaining the space and keeping it as clean and functional and good smelling as possible. But it is a composting toilet. I personally had no problem with it. I grew up camping so this was no big deal. Up in the loft my children said they felt like they were in a treehouse. We really enjoyed everything about this place and I would have stayed longer if I could. I look forward to coming back and have shared pictures and my experience with friends. Staying ath Winberry Walden was a dream come true. The remote location hearing on nature, the river in the backyard, and the wild life around was so wonderful. The hosts, James and Linda provide every comfort one would need inside their glamping studio, which is really a VERY cozy stay with a mini split, a kitchenette, and stylish bathroom that is wonderful to warm up in! The near by river with private swimming holes, hikes around the property were so much fun too. We will be retunring and cannot recommend this stunning get away for anyone looking for a nature retreat. Not to mention how close they are too from a really cool lake that was nearly empty in the middle of summer. This is such a hidden gem of a place! We cannot wait to see what James and Linda keep doing with this property and opening up more spaces to people to enjoy this beatiful location. My only complaint is that I had to go home. ;) Thank you, James and Lind!
