The best treehouse rentals in Columbia River Gorge

Just an hour's drive from Portland, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is the biggest in the country. Among its many campgrounds is Eagle Creek, the first forest service campground in the USA.

Outside the national and state parks, you also find dozens of private campgrounds and RV parks on both sides of the gorge. Pitch a tent by a fishing lake, along a wild river, or amid a pine forest. If you're looking for solitude, backpacking is also allowed on more than 30 trails across the gorge.

You need at least a few days to see the region's famous sights. Multnomah Falls is the most iconic cascade in the area, roaring at 620 feet. At Beacon Rock State Park, you can gawk up at Beacon Rock. The towering outcrop is one of the most distinctive features of the Columbia Gorge.

The Mt. Hood area is your go-to spot for hiking trails, and the snow-capped peak even offers downhill skiing in the SUMMER! Along the Hood River, water sports enthusiasts get stoked for world-class windsurfing. Between adventures, be sure to grab a drink at one of the region's craft breweries or wineries.

However you choose to enjoy the gorge, remember to pack your rain gear—the region is famous for its daily drizzle. Since most campgrounds are situated near railways and the interstate, you may also want to bring earplugs.

Keep in mind there's no bad time to visit the Columbia River Gorge. July and August are the height of the tourist season, but they also boast the smallest chance of rain. For the most spectacular wildflowers, shoot for April through June. Of course, a fall camping trip puts you at the forefront of Hood River Valley harvests and stunning fall colors.

Nestled in a secluded setting amongst the tree-tops overlooking the Bull Run River Canyon, it's the perfect hideaway for couples seeking a romantic escape or BFFs looking for an adventurous getaway. Follow the path and bridge through the trees to your own little treetop oasis. This standalone space rests 30 feet above the forest floor and is perfect for reconnecting with nature and getting away from real-life. The space Outside: Through French Doors guests will find a stunning back deck perched 30 feet in the air, offering a birds-eye view. Relax with a glass of wine at the scenic bar-top overlooking the canyon while taking in the clean air, sounds of the river below and enjoying the star filled skies. A tiny pellet stove keeps you cozy and warm on the deck. (Note - the pellet stove can not be used during burn bans). Inside: The Treehouse has a luxurious queen-size bed with a memory foam mattress in a lovely upstairs loft. Soft cozy sheets and plenty of warm blankets have been provided for you to snuggle up in. In the main room you can cozy up with a good book or game (several are provided for your enjoyment) or just enjoy each other’s company on the comfy love seat. There is a charming “Kitchenette” area where a stunning rock sink with non-potable water can be used to rinse dishes or wash your face. A variety of teas, hot chocolate and a French press are provided along with fresh water for drinking. Pots, Pans and a kettle are provided for use on the deck camp stove. A propane heater keeps you cozy and warm inside. The Treehouse is off-grid so there is no TV or Wi-fi to distract you from the wonderful surroundings. Limited Power is provided by rechargeable batteries. You will have about 7-8 hours of power per day. If you run several things at once, including the lights, the batteries will run down faster so use it sparingly. If you run out of batteries a lantern is provided as back up along with a couple headlights to help you navigate to the outhouse. NOTE: The only cook source is the bbq outside on the deck. Wow. Just wow. This treehouse exceeded all our expectations! What a wonderful night we had celebrating my husband’s birthday. We BBQ’d on the deck, explored the grounds with our golden retriever and slept in the trees and under the stars. The outdoor shower was wonderful and the outdoor toilet was 100/10! We even had a resident tree frog visit the deck as well. We will definitely be back!

Three of us (Grandmother, mom, grandson) enjoyed a wonderful 5 night stay at Scott's Private Treehouse With Amazing View. The beds were very comfortable, the tiny kitchen area had just what we needed to make our own modest meals, and the convenience of a plumbed toilet and shower was awesome! This was luxurious compared to the tent camping we usually do. We were there in August and lucked out on comfortable weather in the mid-70s with night-time breezes wafting through the cabin at night. AC was available if needed, though. I haven't slept so well in years! The sunset view of Mt. Hood was lovely, and the stars at night inspiring. A great base of operations for Columbia River explorations.

We absolutely loved our stay in this adorable, well-appointed treehouse. Temps were around 100 degrees at check in time so we killed a few hours in Goldendale to enjoy some air conditioning. We were delighted to find that the cute treehouse had a window air conditioner! In addition to being cute and cozy, the treehouse has the best toilet ever, lol. (We couldn’t figure out how to get hot water for the shower, but we like the idea of an outdoor shower and really want to return!) Thanks for sharing this gem of a treehouse. 10/10!

No surprises! Directions were specified so that it was easy enough to get there past dark. Hot tub was amazing both during the day and at night. Quiet with Mountain View slightly down the road. Overall it was an extremely pleasant weekend ☺️

When my brother and I were young we helped our dad build an amazing treehouse; the wonderful adventures we had as we navigated life. When my brother turned 65 it made sense to stay in Scott's treehouse and celebrate.

Scott has the most amazing Treehouse! I cant tell you how much we got to bond over this whole experience. The bathroom was peaceful. The beds were cozy. The shower outside was awesome! The ladder was treacherous haha! I can’t believe the view and the wild life all around us. We will be back to this outstanding, homey treehouse again!!!!

We had a great time at this little cabin. The view on one side had a view of construction equipment and there was some construction noise when we arrived but it stopped shortly after and did not resume. We had a great time going through all the tapes in the cabin- our favorite was Kitaro Astral Voyage. The grounds were nice to take a walk on, and found it extraordinarily easy to have a dog with us, the gate at the top of the stuff was perfect to keep him contained while in the hot tub and there was so much space for him to run around and get some energy out. The wood stove kept the cabin plenty warm- almost too warm much of the time so we had windows cracked and the fresh air was nice. The only part that was iffy to me was asking for us to do our own cleaning up, as well as leave a tip for the housekeeper, as well as a $100 cleaning fee and while this has become standard for most places unfortunately, it doesn’t sit well with me to ask for all 3 of those things, especially as the cabin wasn’t pristinely clean to begin with. The dust bunnies under the upstairs bed and splatters on the wall around the stove and the splatter on the bathroom door need attention, however we are not clean freaks and it wasn’t too much of a bother. Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend this spot. Next time we would probably go for the yurt as it is slightly more secluded without being in view of houses/construction equipment. Oh, and large people might struggle to get up the stairs. 5*
