The portajohn was in the middle of the view of the river and disgusting (need to be cleaned/emptied). There was only 1/2 a picnic table available for use. The views are of the river were amazing!

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

PARADISE!! Everything you could want is available at Fruitdale Farm. All four cabins were in pristine condition and decorate with such cute art. The kitchen was supplied with all the essentials to make a quick cup of coffee or prep an entire meal. Our daughters (ages 5-11) were able to venture off on their own and explore because all the trails are so clearly marked. The pond offers a refreshing spot to cool down in the sun and a place to gather around a fire at night to a lovely cacophony of wildlife sounds. 10/10!!

Weekend Trip to Away at Green Hill

What a wonderful experience, Teri and Mike have a beautiful area tucked away in Northern KY. Plenty of space between campsites! We stayed at Henry’s Holler. It’s a 4x4 only site. There is a steep hill that you may need 4wd to get up. That being said there are a few more spots to reserve that this is not a requirement. It is so peaceful here. You would never know you were so close to busy areas. Rabbit hash is right down the road as well as Lawerenceburg Indiana. Just a short distance is also Big Bone Lick State Park. If you just want to get away this is the spot for you. The log cabin on site is so cool. Plenty of walking can be done as you meander along some easy trails. The “outhouse” on site is cute. It is the only bathroom on property. Well stocked and not your typical “outhouse”. It’s adorable. You will have to see it to appreciate it. This is a great alternative to camping at a campground. Note: there is no electric or water. Also pack out what you pack in. You will be greeted with a “welcome” kit that includes a citronella candle, some paper and fire starting accessories. Firewood is available for purchase by the barn. I will definitely be back! Teri communicates very well to make sure all is going well. Don’t be afraid to explore this great slice of heaven.

Very courteous hosts, we met and spoke a few times. Upon arrival Curtis showed us the best route to the camping area near the creek where there’s 30amp, 110 outlets and water hook ups also included WiFi that is nearby with unlimited data. Fire pit with wood to burn and a swing. We have a 40’ travel trailer and fit easily. The creek is shallow and slow moving so your dog can splash all they want.

If you love nature DL's land is the place. Site 4 is huge. Beautiful view of the river, flat places for tent. DL and his family are very responsive and kind. Checked in on us a couple times during our stay. Nature sounds.. abound. Sites are well maintained and driving directions on point.

We had to e greatest time at Open Sky! I took my daughter and her three friends to celebrate her 12th birthday. Teri and Mike were so wonderful and communicative. This property is a magical sanctuary — like stepping out of time into another dimension. We stayed in the cottage, nestled right by the creek, and it was peaceful and truly restorative. David was incredibly attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The cottage itself was a work of art, thoughtfully equipped with everything for a comfortable stay. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer! We’re already looking forward to our next visit. If you’re looking to unplug and reconnect with what truly matters, this is your place!

Seven minutes from West Union where there is food, gas, shopping available. Five minutes from the Ohio river and downtown Manchester. Fifteen Minutes from historical Maysville kentucky, accessible via a bridge from Aberdeen, Ohio side. There are several boat ramps in to the Ohio river from Aberdeen. Twenty minutes from Amish store The Millers and a Petting Zoo. Thirty Minutes from Shawnee State Park. 80 minutes from Downtown Cincinnati. In the evenings if the sky is clear the star gazing is phenomenal. There is a nice breeze on the hill most of the time. The sunrises and sunsets are to die for. We can provide a long outdoor extension cord for electricity and hose for water. We live right by the road and the bulk of the property is behind the house and to the left side. It’s mostly field with a line of trees and small stream on the left edge of the property.

Many years ago, this property was known as Cross Winds Farm due to the crosswinds coming in from all directions at times. After being sold twice, the purchasing owner renamed the farm Quail Run. Did you ever hear the superstition that renaming a farm can bring bad luck? It appears to be true in this instance, as the owner of Quail Run experienced several financial difficulties and the property eventually sold at auction. About 8 years later the property came up for sale again. It was at this point we purchased the land and built the farm and our home. In researching the history of the property, we came across the original name and decided to restore to original name. Learn more about this land: Enjoy the spectacular sunrises and sunsets from this working horse farm and veterinary hospitalization facility while sharing the rolling hills and hiking trails with nature. The stars have never appeared brighter without the light pollution found in more densely populated areas. You will pull in on a private gravel road which runs along top a ridge. Once you arrive at the horse barn, parking is very nearby and we will direct you where to pull in. We will park you in as level of a spot as we can for you. Depending on number of other RVers and first arrivals, your parking may be on a bit more of a slope. Please note, you will be parking in a grassy area and be prepared in the event mother nature were to decide to bring rain. Heavy amounts of rain coupled with a heavy rig could lead to difficulties pulling out if you aren't prepared ahead of time with the proper equipment. We are happy to provide a tour of our Equine facility and what we do here. Depending on case load, we may or may not have hospitalized cases at any given time.

Fruitdale Farm

Come stay at our little sustainable farmstead amid the beautiful rolling hills of southern Ohio! Our peaceful 20 acres has a good mix of woods, wild meadows and maintained cleared areas as well as a small pond, all of which can be explored via our nature trail. Enjoy the sounds of nature and an incredible night sky. Farm fresh eggs and fresh produce are available for purchase during the growing season and firewood is available all year round. There is also a wonderful sauna on the property that can be reserved. Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound. Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets. A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN ONLY. POINTS OF INTEREST in the area: The HIGHLANDS NATURE SANCTUARY (7 miles away), previously called "7 Caves" is highly recommended for some beautiful hiking. There is a small museum (The Appalachian Forest Museum) at the main trailhead by the parking area... the folks there can direct you to a couple of other great trails nearby if you're interested in further hiking. NOTE: Most of the trails within the sanctuary are not open to dogs, however, there are a couple of dog-friendly trails (inquire at the museum). Museum is closed for the winter (Nov-March). **Recommended trails: Valley of the Ancients (1/2mile, start at museum) and the Barrett's Rim Trail (2.5 mile loop) and the Kamelands Trail, which are both accessible during the pandemic. AMISH BAKERY (Country Crust Bakery) & MARKET (JRs General Store)* on 41 South in Bainbridge (15-20min away): The bakery is a great lunch stop for a fresh, soft Pretzel Bun sandwich (delicious) and to load up on fresh baked goods (the apple fritter is my fave!). The market, which is almost right across from the bakery, is also worth checking out... delicious deli sandwiches and great deals on spices, cheeses, pickles, jams, bulk foods, produce, etc. Watch out for horse & buggy traffic... and bicycles! *The Amish accept cash or check only and are closed on Sunday. In the teeny town of BAINBRIDGE (10-15min away): There are some nice antique/primitive shops around; in particular, Ancient Valley Mercantile has a nice selection of antiques as well as local art, gifts, gourmet coffees, local honey, etc. There's a wonderful little cafe (634 Coffee + Cafe, inside the historic Paxton Theater) that offers coffee drinks, pastries, soups and sandwiches. Stop into Pap's Hilltop Honey and Distillery, where you can purchase and sample a variety of moonshine flavors and cocktails. The Paxton Restaurant has good home cooked meals and a variety of pies and cheesecakes for dessert. Or grab an ice cream at the Dairy Queen before strolling the primitive shops. PAINT CREEK LAKE STATE PARK: (2 miles away) There are dog-friendly hiking trails (the harmony trail and little pond trail are personal favorites), mountain bike trails, a 21-hole disc golf course, boat ramp (if you have kayaks, you can paddle around on the lake... this spot is excellent at sunset), and a camp store that has ice and hand-dipped ice cream. There is also a BEACH, which is good for picnicking and swimming, located at the southern entrance, off of SR 50. GREENFIELD: This town is closer (5 miles) and larger than Bainbridge and good for getting supplies. There are some restaurants, bars and supermarkets (Community Markets, at the further end of town, is recommended over the Save-a-Lot), El Canon (Mexican) would be my restaurant of choice if you decide to eat out. Catch 22 Sports Bar has good burgers and there are plenty of pizza options for dine in or take-out. COVERED BRIDGE: There is a sweet little covered bridge that you can still drive across in the tiny town of South Salem, just a 5 minute drive away. To get there from here, take 41 North and then take a right onto Lower Twin Rd and drive a few miles and you will come to the bridge. SERPENT MOUND (about 30 miles away, Peebles, OH) is an internationally known National Historic Landmark built by the ancient American Indian cultures of Ohio. It is an effigy mound representing a snake with a curled tail. Nearby are three burial mounds—two created by the Adena culture (800 B.C.–A.D. 100), and one by the Fort Ancient culture (A.D. 1000–1650). A must see! CHILLICOTHE (Ohio's first capital): (30 minutes away) The historic downtown boasts charming architecture and is perfect for exploring on foot. Several local shops, restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and bars. A lovely city park with a small lake is host to a year-round population of ducks, geese and swans. There is also a disc golf course and skate park in the city park. There is frequent live music, gourmet cocktails and a wide variety of craft beer at Steiner's Speakeasy (an Americana-style bourbon bar of America). GREAT SEAL STATE PARK (about 35 miles away in Chillicothe): If you are into mountain biking, you will find some of the best trails in the state here (start at the Lick Run parking area). There is also a great disc golf course here along with a picnic shelter and a playground for the kids. FORT HILL EARTHWORKS & NATURE PRESERVE: (30 minutes away) This preserve encompasses 1300 acres of mature woodlands and 11 miles of some of the best hiking trails in the state. Part of the Old Growth Forest Network, there are remnants of the temperate deciduous forests that once covered all of the eastern United States. For archaeology enthusiasts, there is a stone and earthen wall hilltop enclosure, as well as a smaller circular earthwork (both of which can be difficult to discern).

We welcome both small and large groups and can help you plan events here such as family reunions, bachelor(ette) parties, and corporate retreats. With one canoe livery within two miles of us (Little Miami Canoe), you can drop your canoe or kayak in upstream and make your campsite a pit stop before getting picked up downstream by their shuttles. You can also rent a tube from us and go up and down our property or hang out on your tube anchored by the beach. We can also shuttle you upstream on Saturdays and Sundays. You can hike on our property to get scenic views of the Little Miami River Valley or spend time exploring Halls Creek (just down the street), the Fort Ancient Mounds, and others. We know other special local spots we can let you in on, too. We are just a 1/2 mile from the Little Miami Bike Trail and close to Caesar's Creek, Cowan Lake, YMCA's Camp Kearn, and Camp Joy. Our primitive sites are spaced for privacy, with a gravel parking area near the cottage and additional field parking is available near the road on the opposite site of the main house. While most sites are walk-in only, the upper field sites may be able to be parked near and the Lower Meadow, Boneyard, and Oak Grove may be able to be driven to, as weather and site conditions permit.

The Viking Longhall

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Please be aware that if we have had a lot of rain, the creek side spots may be too wet and difficult to get back up the hill with the wet grass. The names of the roads to avoid: Consolidated (Height restriction 9' 9" under the railroad) Brower (Height restriction 10' 0" over Seven Mile Creek) 7 Mile Road (Height restriction 10' 6" and very sharp turn to bridge) Please watch what route electronic devices may may pick avoiding these routes. A suggested route from traveling North on State Route 127 to Camp Rocky Run is to turn in Camden, OH on State Route 725 and head East to Wayne Trace Road. !! NOTE on RV types !! You must have a self contained RV with on board restroom facilities. We have no restroom facilities available. For this reason, we do not offer tent camping. !! NOTE on camp fire location !! The fire ring provided on the shared creek side patio is the only spot a camp fire, of any kind, can be built. (Sorry, but we have had too many damaged spots in the grass from the use of 'portable' fire ring units.) !! NOTE on Class A RVs with towed vehicle !! If it is too wet to access the creek side spots, we can still accommodate your stay in the nearby barn driveway but if you are unable to back up with the 'toad' then a detach will be required. Again, this is only if it is too wet to access the creek side camp spots. Generally we will be able to help you back in, but at times we may be away and suggest a helper in guiding you into the barn drive. Note, the barn driveway is not a pull through site.

Todd’s Fork Adventures

This property was the original location of Todd’s Fork Bluegrass Festivals back in the 70’s and is directly on Todd’s Fork with 1/2 mile of River frontage. We reside within the Village of Morrow, walking distance to restaurants and stores. The little Miami Bike Trail is approximately 1/4 mile from our entrance. This property is tucked away and you wouldn’t even know you’re close to town once you’re on site. Valley Vineyards is right down the road to enjoy a bottle of wine and cook your own steak dinner nights. Take a trip to visit Fort Ancient with a day hike. A Native American earthworks complex, the largest hilltop enclosure in the world and soon to be a World Heritage site! Enjoy some canoeing on the Little Miami River a State and National scenic river which is within walking distance. We have kayaks on location for the kids to play in the creek and creeks to hike with numerous fossils deposits. Southwestern Ohio is famous for its Ordovician fossil deposits. Kings Island is approximately 20 minute drive and the Ohio renaissance Festival is near. Caesars creek state park in Cowan lake state park is within a short drive. Smallmouth Bass fishing is awesome on Todd’s Fork and we have plenty of area to Wade fish.

Spend your day fishing at the catch & release pond, hiking the 2 miles of mowed trails, you are 3 miles from the Ohio Erie Prairie Bike Trail head. Ask about helping with some of the farm chores. In the evening roast s'mores on a campfire, catch fireflies, or stargaze away from artificial light. The farm is shared space with a variety of short term rental sites; however each site has over 100ft away from each other. The owner Kim also lives on the property in the barn with her 2 golden doodles Scooby & Trixie. GloryField is an active farm so there are also people, vehicles, and farm equipment that have access to the property. They are the only people allowed to drive beyond the driveway. The nearest town of S. Charleston is 3 miles down the road and has a good grocery store, gas station, & dollar stores. Restaurants include Pizza/sub/salads, Chinese, Coffee shop, bakery, & Ice cream (unfortunately no delivery). Other popular destinations are... Cedarville University - 10 Minutes, Yellow Springs & Youngs Jersey Dairy - 20 Minutes. Larger cities of Springfield, Xenia, & London - 30 minutes. Dayton, Columbus, Kings Island, and The Air Force Museum - 1 hour.
