The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also.
The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities.

A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).

very nice campsite, we got there at 9pm and called to see what to do to check in, they answered quickly, and had already set out a map for us to use outside their office with our campsite marked. bathrooms were very clean, and the area was beautiful. would definitely camp there again!

Good spot! Creekside site is maybe a little small for tent camping but no issues with a 2-3 man tent. Good spot for a car camping rig though. Great host and the showers are great to have after a day of hiking!

The Sugar Shack did not disappoint and Aimee was an amazing host. It was the perfect getaway to tune out and just be in the raw elements of nature. The cabin was super cozy and well stocked with everything we needed to keep warm and comfortable. The trails are beautiful and Aimee was so quick to respond to our questions and needs. Highly recommend for an intimate cozy, cabin in the woods experience 😌

78 degrees in march and i just had to get out on a hiking/camping trip. Was my first time to Hocking Hills and this camping spot is an ideal spot for exploring all the popular sites and trails! With a nice babbling brook running through the property and tall trees that sway in the wind it was just what I needed to reset and reconnect with nature after a long winter and a long day of hiking!

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
I went to Fruitdale in February, after two snowstorms and a big thaw, and so it was very muddy! And still I loved it so much. Couldn’t help but walk the trails even in the mud. It was so beautiful and quiet, although my guess is that it is hoppin’ in the summertime :). I stayed in the sugar shack, which is PERFECT for winter, because it is warm thanks to the wood burning stove. I love going off grid when I can and this is one of the first places I’ve found that really lets you do that even in winter. I loved the sauna, loved the incredible attention to detail in the design of the sugar shack. It is perfect. The creek was frozen over when I arrived and thawed when I left and it was just beautiful both ways. Can’t wait to come back :)

We ended up being over prepared because so much was already provided. Located perfectly to go spend the day at the multiple surrounding parks and trail systems!

Loved the location and surrounding area. Away from the business district. Dome was warm with heated blanket and heater for a February stay. Loved the large event done.

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
Aimee was very welcoming, gave helpful instructions, and responded to questions quickly. The property has a nice mixture of features, is easy to get to, and is close to some great hiking.

Second visit, and loved it even more. Had a great experience, and Aimee has been a joy to work with through this. I definitely recommend this place to whoever is brave enough, and will definitely be planning another trip to the farm.

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres
We had a wonderful time at the Peppermint Patty Wagon. Austin and Kate were great hosts!
The P.P.W. was a nice camping trailer.
The outdoor kitchen is right up near trailer. We had booked fishing with Austin, that went good. We could not catch any fish because of the weather now, but Austin was too good at it. He even taught us filleting and that was sweet.
We didn’t get to see much of Kate, she was off with her work. But Austin was around like always when we needed something. Also, genuinely impressed by Austin’s knowledge.

3 nights at Fruitdale Farm
It was an absolutely beautiful little spot. Nestled in the woods, listening to the owls and coyotes at night over dinner. We are an off grid/ back pack camping couple but will definitely be going back to visit the sugar shack. The town is also very friendly and quaint. We had an amazing time just being out in nature and marking another camping trip in the books.
