This yurt is great for a couple or a couple with a small child, I provide a blowup mattress, twin size with linens.. The yurt faces the creek, and a rock wall on the other side making this property very private except for our cabin on the same property. It is fenced with split rail fencing and has a solar powered gate, with a gate fob provided. We are dog friendly, with a $25 pet fee per stay. This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower as well. Our absolutely wonderful 10 Wedding Anniversary stay at Magical Riverside Yurt by JoDee, was the getaway we needed. Laid back, private, peaceful and amazingly well stocked with almost everything you'd ever want. The coffee bar was amazing. Sitting in the hot tub while looking at the billions of stars with the full Milky Way overhead was epic. Our first time staying in a Yurt was a pleasure. I had no idea it would be so comfortable and accommodating. JoDee has I think 5 different properties to choose from. Make sure to check out this well deserved Super Host.

Weekend Trip to Magical Riverside Yurt w/hot tub

Stayed on a long weekend with my partner and our two dogs and can’t overstate what an amazing space Jodee has created. It delivered everything we were initially looking for: a great space for the dogs to run around and play, a creek to wade/fish, living amenities (kitchen, bathroom, ac/heat, bed), great views, and a place to unwind (hot tub/firepit/hammock). What we didn’t expect was how much attention to detail and well curated everything was in an unassuming yurt. Everything, from the arrangements of the stones in the firepit to the hippy decor, felt so well curated and thoughtfully put together. Throughout our stay we would find more little details that really just helped us fall more in love with the place. Jodee was a great host, available for anything we may have needed while we still had all the privacy we needed. If you’re looking for a relaxing/private outdoor space with all the amenities of an indoor space, then this is the place to be. We were absolutely enchanted by our stay and fully intend to spend another magical weekend here again. Tip: Renting the side by side is a fun way to explore the area! A lot of hilly backroads to ride along while seeing local wild life and neighborhoods. The best part was our big dogs were able to sit in the back and enjoy the ride after playing in the creek all day.

Loved the space & property so much! Communication with host was efficient and helpful. The stream sounded glorious. The small cabin had all the essentials you could ask for. The loft with bed was comfortable. We saw deer in the morning and even purchased two paintings on display in the cabin that a local artist created. A great place for a weekend getaway!

The Cozy Bear was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. The cabin was beautifully designed, and included all the amenities we needed from kitchenware to a coffee bar to a fan. We used the sleeper sofa rather than the loft, and it was very comfortable. The site itself was beautiful; there was another tent within view, but far enough away that we still had privacy. We had great fun paddling in the creek and enjoying the mountain scenery - we hope to return again soon!

Such a peaceful retreat, with everything you could possibly need! Jodee has this place set up with all necessities, and the pellet grill was such a dream to use, that now my hubby wants one. Lots of wildlife- deer grazing, random white floof of a dog, the sweetest kitty under the tent, loads of lightning bugs- our reactive dog was able to be off leash, and loved his creek play, but we had to keep him tethered most times, due to these unexpected, random visitors. Several great nearby hikes that were in the info book, and dog friendly. Even in late June heat, we were comfortable with the fans provided, but did enjoy our extras from home, for porch sitting. Amazingly, no issues with mosquitoes, and I'm one that attracts them. Plenty of hot water in the shower, and so nice to bathe outdoors- there could be a bit more of a shield from the road, but I didn't feel exposed. Our weekend had some heavy storms, and there were no leaks or concerns with the tent, and it was amazing to listen to the rain on the "roof". Definitely somewhere I would recommend, and come back to!

The Yurt was amazing. Jodee was so accommodating and thought of every little detail to make things perfect! She even has fishing poles and floats and firewood! We loved our weekend stay, it was the perfect setting for my 2- and 6-year-old boys to explore and enjoy nature. The river is beautiful, and we had the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel like our own private getaway. Inside, the cabin is cozy and inviting, especially with the wood-burning stove—it adds such a warm and charming touch. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the tent is even more spacious and comfortable than the photos. You can really tell that a lot of attention to detail went into making this place special. The compostable toilet takes a little getting used to, but there’s also a traditional toilet available on the property, which is a nice option to have. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!

We loved staying at JoDee's place and so did our fur baby! Having the river close by was great. We had plenty of privacy since the other tent sites on the land were not booked. The only thing I would note is that the hot water is limited (which is to be expected, you're in a tent) just don't expect a very long outdoor shower. We will be back if we are ever in the area! We also loved the location, we felt like we were able to hop over to Hillsville, Fancy Gap, Galax, the Blue Ridge Parkway and even Mt. Airy with ease. You're in a central location but it feels secluded.
