My husband and I stayed at Christina’s place after an intense work, and it was exactly what we needed—peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful nature. We booked the Deluxe Tent Site with the 12x12 deck because I wanted space to organize my work materials and reset after our hectic schedule. The deck was spotless and perfect for that, and the bathroom was also super clean and comfortable to use. We really enjoyed making a fire and cooking meals outside—it was such a relaxing way to spend the evenings. Even our cat had a great time exploring and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere! Christina and her husband were incredibly kind and welcoming, and their land is absolutely stunning. We ended up extending our stay an extra night just to enjoy it longer. The view from the hill was breathtaking. We’d definitely love to come back when we’re driving through again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a restful and beautiful camping experience.

Had a fun time in the yurt. Had everything we needed and then some. Also when the water pump broke (due to no fault of the host, just bad luck) they worked with us to find a solution that worked for us quickly. Was very responsive and quick to assist with any issues. Would stay at their properties again. Just a note because I don't think I realized it, the yurts are fairly close to each other, I know we could occasionally hear the people inside the yurt next door (which probably means they could hear our dogs). Tina and Joe were very nice! The property is beautiful, but remote! There is electricity and water, as well as very nice bathrooms, but if you're looking for a place that's quick to get in and out of, you may need to look elsewhere. The quiet nights were gorgeous and relaxing. I hadn't been camping in a long time, so there were things I didn't think about, but the location is close enough to Wilkesboro that I could pick those things up at the local DG or Walmart.

Our stay was perfect. We were able to rest and relax. It was very peaceful listening to the stream, sitting on the deck and using the hot tub. If you want a place to unwind and slow down, this is where you need to be.

Weekend Trip to Firefly tent on the creek bank

We loved our weekend stay, it was the perfect setting for my 2- and 6-year-old boys to explore and enjoy nature. The river is beautiful, and we had the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel like our own private getaway. Inside, the cabin is cozy and inviting, especially with the wood-burning stove—it adds such a warm and charming touch. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the tent is even more spacious and comfortable than the photos. You can really tell that a lot of attention to detail went into making this place special. The compostable toilet takes a little getting used to, but there’s also a traditional toilet available on the property, which is a nice option to have. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!

Our stay was amazing. Came in for just one night for a concert we have been looking forward to. Elizabeth was fantastic and communicated well. Her place was tucked off the beaten path but so perfect. A little bit of a hike I must say so pack accordingly :). Such a peaceful place for our little getaway. We will definitely stay here again.

Generally, our visits always create a review that showcases the location itself however, from time to time we have hosts that just go above and beyond. In this special Easter weekend visit at Redeemer's Ridge, we had the great privilege of meeting Linda and John. With amazing communication and great directions, I knew we were off to a wonderful start and meeting Linda at the RV site she greeted us with a warm and gracious personality. Also an Easter treat bag was given to us as well as important information about the site, the walking/hiking trails and the features of the site. Later on one of our hikes we spotted her from her backyard nearby and she gave us a radiant smile and a hardy wave... talk about being made to feel welcome! wow. By evening we had the pleasure of meeting her husband John, who was making the rounds to drop off firewood for us to enjoy once the evening was upon us. Meeting these two very special people made our visit so pleasant and we were able to enjoy a special Easter Sunday sunrise due to the them providing such a wonderful place to stay. On to the RV site itself. It is a work of art, truly. From the special 'Welcome' sign on the rock/boulder at the fork in the road between the two sites to the 'Scenic Sunrise' hiking sign that kept inviting us to make one more hike to the bench under the Pear Blossom tree along the road; the attention to detail is evident everywhere. You'll find a beautiful valley below to view and fully modern RV hookup sites.

Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

Take a Hike on a Wild side! Camping

This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds. Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. YO can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management. This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life. The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents and 4 Pioneer wagons. All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you). Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cook and serene. Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest. Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties. We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay. The farm is work in progress. Eventually it will be an Ostrich farm. and have other animals too. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. There are couple of Ski resorts 45 minutes to an hr away.

In the cold months, it's heated by a wood burning stove. Also next to the house are logging roads that allow you to hike the Ripshin Mountains. The Yadkin River is near by, and so is Boone and Blowing Rock. If you like mountain biking, bring your bike to ride Kerr Scott, or Zacks Fork trails. Also, check out the workshops at Pattersonschoolfoundation.org They offer sustainable living classes such as cheese making, mushroom foraging, blacksmithing, soap making, kimchi making, etc... This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Beautiful Mountain View’s and backwoods drive. A unique wool farm is just down the dirt road with a cash only roadside stand.

The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower as well. The FireFly is pet friendly and please leave $25 on the counter for the pet fee. If there are freezing temperatures, There will be no water, but if the temps are well above freezing the running water is there.
