3 nights at Redeemers Ridge Retreat

Slice of heaven! Quiet and beautiful views. Owners were caring and friendly. The sites were so well thought out. I appreciated all the detail that went into making this property a unique and beautiful place to stay. Just look around and you can see how much time and money was spent. The site itself is level, trash can available, firewood available, clean beautiful rock to park on, beautiful wood chairs on red stone, open property for the dog to run, enchanting pine tree forest and full hookup. Be prepared for a decent amount of wind because you are on a mountain.

This was a last minute tent camping trip. We didn't have to drive far to enjoy the country and close if we forgot something..and which we did. The babbling of the creeks were nice. Land was level. Loved the animals ❤. It was a great short trip! Brandon was very helpful and answered all of our questions.

Weekend Trip to Waller Farm on Peter’s Creek

Wonderful little spot with creek nearby. You can fall asleep, listening to the running water, enjoy the beautiful trees, and surrounding landscape. Wonderful little oasis really enjoyed my stay. Had an unexpected burst of rain in the morning had to pack up quicker than I wanted. Would recommend and plan to stay again.

Weekend Trip to Marshall Creek Farm

We stayed in the cabin. It was wonderful having such privacy with it nestled in the woods. Everything was clean and well maintained. They suppled firewood in crates for us to use in the fire pit! It was fun showering under the stars. Luckily, when we were there, it was warm during the day and cool at night so the evening shower water was warmed up by the sun. The bed was very comfortable, and Darin and Beth were kind and very responsive to any of our needs and questions. The location is close to Mt. Airy, Pilot Mountain, and Hanging Rock State Park. All three of which we visited. We plan to visit again soon.

Site 5 was great, with easy access into the stream. We could see our neighbors to the left, but I imagine you might have more privacy when the trees are fuller. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be back to check out some other sites in the future!

2 nights at Bent Creek Farm

We chose Hannah and Doug’s farm for our first trip in the new RV and so glad we did. Super quiet and tucked in around other farms and vineyards. Our 33’ Brinkley fit easily and were able to use the 50 amp electric and water. The road in is a bit tight but can be managed. If you’re heading that way, you’ll definitely enjoy their space.

We camped for one night on our drive north. It was a pretty spot by the pond. Bathhouse was a perk nice clean shower! We did not do the farm tour but I bet that would have been fun.

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival). Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs (American Viticultural Area). We're next door (3 miles) to Raffaldini and Piccione Vineyards. Take a day trip to Boone, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Airy, Winston-Salem, Charlotte or additional areas of interest. We love it here and would like to share it with you. Take a Hike on a Wild side! Camping

This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds. Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. YO can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management. This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life. The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents and 4 Pioneer wagons. All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you). Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cook and serene. Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest. Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties. We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay. The farm is work in progress. Eventually it will be an Ostrich farm. and have other animals too. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. There are couple of Ski resorts 45 minutes to an hr away.

Camps are far enough apart for good privacy. The site sits on about a one acre lot. Great for fishing, sun bathing or just putting your feet in the water and relaxing! It has a built in fire pit. This is a great space for family camping! It has plenty of shade and a nice large flat space for easy tent set-up. If you kayak or canoe the river, our site makes for easy access in or out.

The Big Pond

The Big Pond is a 5-site campground on a 20-acre old farm in SW Virginia with a pond, a creek, rolling pastures, and a number of quaint buildings. We fell in love with the area, its people, the music, and the beautiful scenery a long time ago. We bought the Big Pond in 2021, with the idea to start a small campground catering to campers who share our love for nature, bicycling, mountain music, and a laid-back lifestyle (people drive the speed limit here!). This farm was developed in 1920, and had a small neighborhood store, and a number of structures such as a fish house, a spring house, and a big barn. We made the house livable, and are slowly reclaiming the other buildings. The pond is spring-fed, and also gets water from the Glade Creek, which borders the east side of the property. Our biggest surprise the first summer we owned the Big Pond was the huge variety of wild flowers and song birds. Our guests can walk the perimeter of the property, and enjoy the views from the highest point, the creek, the flowers, and the pond. If you want to make (acoustic) music, you can do so, and maybe we'll even join you in the gazebo at the pond!

William Cornelius Vineyard

William Cornelius Vineyard is a 50-acre private working vineyard and farm that includes 6 acres of Vineyard, 15 acres of corn/soybean fields, and 15 acres of forest. Two vintage tobacco barns add rustic charm to the site. A lovely stream flows down cascading rock shelves along one side of the property, and a small pond is located on the other side. You will have the farm to yourself. There is only one RV site on the property and no other residents, except for the deer and occasional turkey, racoon, squirrels, and birds. From your RV and site you will have an unobstructed view over the vineyard of the sunset and western range of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Vineyard includes Viognier, Merlot, and Chambourcin grapes. Stony Knoll Winery nearby manages the vineyard and uses the grapes in production of their award-winning varietals. The Viognier won the 2023 Best of Show and Double Gold for the NC Fine Wines Show. Stony Knoll’s Rose, made from our Chambourcin, won the 2022 NC Best Rose. There are three wineries within a couple of miles, and 20 more wineries within a 30-minute drive. There are 3 must-see / hike state parks within a 40 minute drive: Pilot Mountain, Hanging Rock, and Stone Mountain. The charming town of Mt. Airy (Mayberry RFD from the Andy Griffith Show) and Elkin are within a 20 minute drive. The Yadkin River is only a few miles to the south at the quaint village of Rockford, and is popular for kayaking/tubing, fishing, and swimming. There is a tubing/kayak outfitter located there, along with an old general store with old-time candies, sodas, and a simple grill.
