My farm had been untouched for years and only used as hay farming. It is rolling hills known by the locals as "Butterfly Hill" Which the farm is home to many species of butterflies in the summer. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet. I have a beautiful hiking trail around the property for you to take your fur babies on. The cabin is right on a beautiful stream too. There are several state parks nearby and river tubing within 10 -30 minutes. Hot showers and potable water just a few feet away.

Our 65 acre farm is secluded and peaceful. We have a small pond with catfish, bluegill, large mouth bass (catch and release only) and a gentle creek. We have chickens, sheep, a pig, cows and diary goats. Enjoy a walk down to the pond and take a picture by the old farm house (from the early 1800's) or explore history in the cemetery. We were staying at Treebones, a yurt 'glampground' in Big Sur, California, and fell in love with yurts together. My mom said, "I think I could build one of these," and the company was born! She does all the woodworking, using sustainable practices, with locally-sourced wood, and her best friend Kathy does the fabric end of things. I truly cannot find the words to accurately describe how magical the River Nest is. I can tell you that it was very hard having to leave! This place is an absolute oasis for anyone looking for a place to enjoy some solitude and/or be surrounded by beautiful nature and scenery. Christine has thought of every detail, there was truly nothing I needed that wasn't available to me. From the magestic views, to the great hiking trails, picking fresh blackberries, having access to the river below, I was beyond happy to be there every minute of the day. Cannot wait to return!

The cabin had a comfort of a hotel mixed with neatly groomed campsite. Visited local shops in Floyd. Recommend the Marby Mill. First and third Sundays 2_4pm have local bluegrass players at the mill. Pack a picnic and bring a chair. Really close to blue rage parkway.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at Shirley’s place and we loved it both times! The cabin is very well equipped with anything you need cook and we love the rustic charm of the entire place. The pool was clean and refreshing. The screened porch was perfect for coffee in the mornings and scrabble in the afternoons. The stars were incredibly bright and the sunrises were amazing as always! Our dogs also loved being able to run around and explore :). We can’t recommend this hip camp enough!

Weekend Trip to Firefly tent on the creek bank

This stop was absolutely worth it. Our family had one night at this spot in our way to NC and everyone wanted to stay longer. Playing in the creek was refreshing. Steaks on the grill, everyone says they were the best steaks ever and are now begging for us to get this grill. Singing around the fire and ending the night with a nice shower under the stars. Bed was comfortable and the toilet was nice to have. Can’t wait to visit again! Thank you for sharing this his beautiful spot!

I took my first solo camping trip here and I couldn’t have picked a better spot. I over prepared, as Wendy had everything I needed to feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed.
