My stay at the campsite was perfect, I was able to catch my first ever white perch, get drone shots of the beautiful sunset, find a bunch of cool frogs and other animals, and cook some hot dogs over a relaxing fire! 10/10 would recommend, the hosts are also super nice and friendly!

Plenty of space to put any size tent! Loved the views and loved the water! Will definitely be coming back again!

Camping on the sound is absolutely beautiful, and the property is very nice and well taken care of. More than enough space to pitch tent, but I would reccomend a tarp or reinforced floor for tent campers. I definitely plan to visit again with some freinds!

This place just keeps getting better. Every time we come Julia and Lincoln have improved on something! It kind of felt like a magical fairy world with all the dragonflies! Our doggo was very happy we brought an inflatable dock with us. We spent most of the daylight hours in the water and were fortunate enough to see a pod of Dolphins over breakfast! Always a wonderful stay!

The camp site was well kept and in a great location, the flies bite so bring bug spray! Beautiful views and very peaceful, I would go back again.

Weekend Trip to Gator Creek

We had such a wonderful time camping at Gator Creek! Very nicely kept with ample wildlife.

the site was incredible! the trails on the property take you through swamps, hardwood forests, and a beach! The site was right next to the albemarle sound and we had a great time taking the kayaks out during sunset. The firewood was so conveniently located and the porta-potties were so clean!

4 nights at Spruill Conservation Farm

Awesome place to get away and spend some time next to the water. Plenty of space to fish, kayak, and take a walk through the forest on the property.

Another wonderful long weekend at Spruill. The sunsets r just to die for and the fishing is great! The site was very clean when we got there, as always, as well as the potty. There r several great options for hanging a hammock and the location is very private with such a relaxing vibe. We already have our next trip booked!

3 nights at Gator Creek

This was my second time staying at Gator Creek and it certainly won't be my last. It's very private, secure, quiet and beautiful. What more could you ask for?! It's also close to the ARNWR (see pictures) and it's just a little farther to the OBX for those so inclined. Stop by the local country store and say hello to Mr. Baily while you're there. Watch for the muskrats in the water near the entrance. They're fun to watch!

We enjoyed it!! it rained the last couple of days, but we made it work:)

We had another wonderful stay at Spruill Farm. The views are unbeatable. We saw an otter in the sound, fish jumping out of the water and a black fox squirrel in the woods. There are times the sound gets choppy then there are times where it’s perfectly still. We enjoyed paddle boarding around the cypress trees and even took a swim. The whole area and the port a potty is kept super clean. The sites are far enough away that even when we had neighbors it was still really private. They continue to make improvements to the sites like adding a privacy fence between site 3 and the community fishing spot. It’s evident they really care about their land and their guests. Julia is always just a message away for any questions and is so nice and personable. Can’t wait to come back soon.

Camping on Julia’s property was amazing! The view was so relaxing, the walking trails were filled with amazing natural scenery. Each campsite was far enough to still have privacy at your own camp. The feeling of waking up to a beautiful sunrise, throw a fishing line in, start a morning fire and cook breakfast all in the same area was so wonderful.

The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Gator Creek

Located near Alligator River on the Little Alligator Creek. Fishing all around, just a short walk thru the woods or down the road. There is no clear path cut to the creek. I try to keep as much outside interference away from the property as possible. Public boat ramp in walking distance. Game lands are nearby with hunting for deer, bear etc. in season of course. No hunting allowed at Gator Creek. Not much light pollution so great for sky watchers. Lots of wild plants. Fiddle Head Ferns, Hearts A Busting, Wild Blueberries, Elderberry and more. A porta john located at my personal cabin but guest are welcome to use it or even pitch your tent in my cabin yard. City water available. We are adding a cooking shack for your use and hope to have it ready in a couple weeks. We do ask that you dispose of your trash appropriately because of the wild animals at Gator Creek. I am not on the site when campers are there. I want each camper to have the use of the property by themselves, that is the reason for only one camper at the time. I will add, I cannot guarantee how many Dragon Flys, birds, squirrels, bears etc. you will see, if any. You are camping in the wild in wetlands surrounded by state hunting preserves. If you want the outdoor life and like the wild Gator Creek is the place for you. PS: I am open to allowing car campers and or small camper vans.

Though we are not far from the city, nature definitely is the main character around here. The waterway is brackish (salt and fresh) so there is a wide array of wildlife to enjoy. Bald eagles and heron fly over daily and we often see otters, foxes and raccoons and birds galore. Guests have access to kayaks and dock (2 story) for fishing and/or relaxing.
