We found this campground while trying to find a place to park our RV during our trip to Rockingham for the NASCAR truck and Xfinity races this past weekend. We were not familiar with the area, and information was not readily available online for camping options. We were quite pleased to find this option. It was a very quiet area, and had plenty of space to maneuver our 36 ft. toy hauler into our spot. We had a water and electric hookup, but sewer was a porta john tank across from our spot. I wasn't sure how that worked, so we opted to drive to a Love's Travel Center on our way home to dump our tanks. Host was very communicative, though due to our plans, we never got to meet in person. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We always love staying at Legacy Farms. It’s always a nice peaceful getaway, and allows us to reconnect with each other as a family. The kids love helping out on the farm, and spending time with the animals. As always, Liz and Tom are friendly and accommodating, and very patient!

Went for a girls weekend and it was a great site! Lots of creatures to see. Felt very safe and secure. The hosts cat made friends with us and followed us through the farm when we walked around, which was very sweet. Great little trip!

This was my second time coming to this wonderful spot. Rebecca does everything right. Last time I came solo and this time I came with my partner and his very anxious little dog. It was the dogs first time camping and they did great. They both loved it as much as I do. Can't wait to come back again.

We had the best stay. Very close to I95 but yet you feel like you are in the country. All the animals are so friendly. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Next time we will stay longer.

8 nights at Idlewild Farm Stays

This is a great private campground. Michelle is very nice. Full hookups, plenty of room for our 38’ 5th wheel. Lovely area, nice walking paths, donkeys, goats, roosters and a pig (we enjoyed talking to the animals). You could tell campers children loved the animals as well as a nice little playground. We enjoyed our quiet evenings there, stayed 6 nights while visiting our son at Fort Bragg. We will definitely hope to stay there again when in the area. And eat at Stewart’s in Raeford, food was very good, we had to go twice.

When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and got to see a 2 day old baby horse!!! Waking up to so many animals was also very fun and made for a great morning of pets and smiles. Would definitely come back!

The Old House

The McKenzie Home Place has been in the same family since the late 1700ś with craftsmanship of the home dating it to 1820. The McKenzies played a big role in the building of Pinehurst with the Grist Mill Parties and even the famous little cabin aptly named The Womens Exchange in Pinehurst, NC being purchased from Author McKenzie who himself was raised in in this beautiful home. It it property that was once inhabited by our Native American Indian as many Indian Points have been pulled from the fields on the property. In its last days as a working farm it was a tobacco farm. There are remnants of the past life scattered around. Including The Green Barn; a 2 story tobacco barn where the tobacco was strung on tobacco sticks, hung on rafters to be cured and taken to market. Memories of times past linger all around, after 200 years it is still standing and ready for many more memories to carry on for generations to come....I am only its keeper for now, until I pass and it is then up to the future McKenzie generations to keep the light burning.... We are working farm with cows, goats, pigs, chickens, horse and our farm dogs. We are great for that overnight stay as you travel. Easy access from I-95, about 15 minutes. We accept last minute with a phone call, before 10:00pm please. We have been delayed to our destination by that blown tire and needed an unplanned place to stay for the night. If you are traveling with horses we have a pasture for them, $20 per night per horse. We are easy to get into and can handle rigs up to 45ft. Hope we see you in your travels!

Agape Farm South is a lavender farm in Dillon, SC, just across the NC border. This is our second year and have a total of 600 plants growing. The property is 15+ total acre with a cleared 2.8 acre field of which approx 1/4 of that has the lavender. We will be adding more lavender each spring and fall. There are two orchards framing the field and property lines. This is an undeveloped rural property, there are currently to amenities. We have cut out a camping (RV or tent) in the woods on the edge of the field. The shaded spot is enclosed with dog fencing and gated with two rear exits into the woods. This means that you can pull in your camper, or car with tent equipment, close the gate and lets your dogs out. They two can experience some nature in a safe manner. This is something you cannot get in many places. There is a fire ring and firewood, table and 2 chairs. Lavender blooms in spring and summer and attracts many butterflies. The fruiting orchards will start producing fruit in 2024. Please know that this is our home away from home and our future retirement income. Please respect it and leave no trace of your presence. We are happy to share it with you. If you are in a RV/Travel Trailer, there is Bass Lake Campground right on the I95 exit for Dillon that offer water, dump station and propane for your needs. The wildlife is abundant, and although the deer ruin our row covering, we still like having them around and are creating food plots for them at the rear of the property to draw them away from the field (fingers crossed). Our farm is a beautiful, private 25 acres with an 1830s house, outbuildings, animals, orchards, gardens, pastures, old trees, wildlife habitat, a spring, and woods. Here you can relax; watch nature; meet our chickens, goats, horse, cats, and dog; learn about archaeology, history, plants, and mead making; and get eggs and homegrown seasonal food. Listen to birdsong and watch clouds during the day, wander a path through our ca. 5 acres of woods, see fireflies in the evening, and star watch at night. Nearby are hiking, horseback riding, historical sites, fishing, antiques, wineries, shooting, and more. We are located in a rural area and have many different domesticated and wild animals so you may hear diverse animal noises and see or smell animal poop, although we try to keep things clean and tidy. Our neighbors have dogs, cattle, and chickens/roosters and occasionally shoot guns during daylight hours (one neighbor is a sporting club with skeet shooting and hunting dogs) but typically our farm is a quiet and peaceful place. We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I retired May 2024 from being a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.
