Each wagon is equipped with calming sound machines that also double as bluetooth speakers to assist guests who may be bothered by sounds of nearby traffic. We currently have five covered wagons and one bath house. The property offers a community stone patio, firepit, grilling area, and large expansive lawn. The upper Cape Fear River flows below the property and Adirondack chairs and a few hammocks are conveniently located around the wagons and entire property for relaxation and pretty views!
The Cozy Heron property shares borders a very popular seasonal river outfitter (Cape Fear River Adventures in Lillington, NC). Cape Fear River Adventures offers paddling classes, summer day camp, canoe/kayak/SUP rentals, and river tubing.
Just a quick 2 minute walk from your covered wagon will also bring you to an on-site restaurant and bar: The Riverside Restaurant & Bar. The Riverside has a full bar, delicious, stone-fired pizza, smashed burgers, fresh salads and sandwiches, and more! They may also have live music performances throughout the spring and summer months.

Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

The land was once our 6th Great Grandfather's and how Fountaintown was formed. The property consists of 84+ acres: 22-acre lake, swamps, creeks, and farmland. We are in a farming community. We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. Catch and release. NC fishing license required.
JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. Kayaks and trolling boats are welcome. No gas motors. Upon booking we can send a local tourism guide for the area. We are only 50 minutes from the beach and coastal towns. Pet Friendly campsites. This was my husband and I first time camping and we enjoyed the weekend. Sean was very friendly, the lakeview was beautiful and it was so peaceful and relaxing.

Fantastic campsite close to Raleigh, NC. Mimm’s was great about communicating all of the details and information for a successful quick in and out camp while traveling through the area! Beautiful property with firewood provided and a pristine porta-pot for midnight access to the loo!

Beautiful, private and somewhat enchanted. We felt such a sense of peace here. From the first contact with Mike, we knew it would be special. Large, private lots were scattered throughout the wooded area. Very well landscaped and looking forward to returning when everything is in bloom. If this is any indication of what our retirement will be like, we’re ready to explore now. A lot of love and care has built this place and it shows!

I brought my RV out to Michael’s place and had an incredible stay. The property is spotless—honestly looks and feels brand new and the peace and quiet out there is exactly what I needed. Michael was an awesome host, quick to respond, helpful, and genuinely welcoming.
The space is open, relaxing, and very well taken care of. I’ll definitely be coming back without a doubt. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, and comfortable getaway.

Michael's treasure of a campground has become My Go-To stop over when I travel back and forth from Florida to visit family and friends. I think I've officially stayed there five times now.
He is SO welcoming and thoughtful. The campground is beautiful, spots are pretty private and everything is spotless and so well kept!!

We were four families who spent a weekend at Sugar Neck, and honestly, it was such a perfect escape. Having the entire place to ourselves made it feel extra special — it’s an amazing setup for a group getaway.
The tents are beautiful, super comfortable, and the bathrooms are neat, private, and way nicer than you’d expect for glamping. We couldn’t have asked for more. In fact, we loved it so much we’ve already booked another weekend for next week!
The host was excellent at communicating and made everything smooth from start to finish. Highly recommend Sugar Neck for anyone looking for a peaceful, cozy, group-friendly glamping spot.

Excellent spot away from the city but not to far out of the way. Right on the water side made for excellent mornings sitting around the fire enjoying coffee and enjoying the view. The host was exceptional with everything from first meet and great to departure. If you want a quite relaxing weekend away I would highly recommend this spot.
