3 nights at Hidden Acres Mountain Camping

Hidden Acres is truly a magical place to experience. So much thought and creativity has gone into each and every campsite. Spring Haven is the second site I have had the pleasure to stayed at. I appreciate our hosts for being so nice and welcoming to us. We had such a lovely time and have never relaxed more during our camping trips as we did this past weekend. The campsites are very spacious and not too close to each other so you can definitely have privacy if you want. I enjoyed the free range chickens that were always happy to greet you as you make your way to the bath house. The bath houses were always clean and are very nicely built as well. We also enjoyed feeding the fish in the water feature pond at Spring Haven. They were fun to watch. If you get a chance to experience Spring Haven or any sites available at Hidden Acres you won’t regret it. One of the best camps I have had!

Weekend Trip to Harmony Glen

June greeted us along with her furry friends. The land was gorgeous to walk around on. Wish we could've stayed more than 1 night but would look this place up to stay again. One thing to note on the driveway, we have a 23 ft RV and it was narrow for us with a tall leaning tree on one side and bushes.

I just stayed for the third time and it's still great. The drive down to the site might be a challenge for 2 wheel drive/low sitting cars (especially after raining) but they have a spot you can park and walk down. Hosts are friendly and respect your privacy. The area has lots of trees for shade. It's quiet for the most part. You might hear some vehicles or dogs barking from across the pond, but nothing that is bothersome. Very peaceful and clean. It feels secluded but it's close enough to Easley that you can run into town for supplies or to grab some food. I'll definitely be back for a fourth trip.

Great campground. Probably the nicest bathhouse I've ever been. Heated toilet seats? LOL I didn't even know that was a thing but I didn't hate it. Plenty of room to spread out and the handmade log benches and tables were a nice touch. Cheap firewood was available on site as well which was great for us on motorcycles since we couldn't bring any. Even had WiFi since there's spotty signal. Will definitely come back. Thank you for letting us stay!

Relaxing, peaceful and private. My wife and I loved the entire trip. It rained most of the time. However the tree canopy was great when the rain was light. I highly recommend! We loved sleeping to the rain or the frogs. Both were nice. We will be back. We saw a fish in the lake that had to be over 3 foot long. (Unknown what kind) Lots of birds and one cat that was doing a great job hunting around the lake.

It is a beautiful property all the way from the cabin that I saw at the top of the ridge down to the Pigeon river. The fishing suffered from Helene’s rampage but everything seemed to be well on its way to a beautiful recovery.

It was my first time camping ever. And It was an AMAZING TIME!! ⛺️ My boyfriend and I stayed at Woods & Water. Very peaceful, birds chirping, chickens clucking, surrounded by tall trees. It’s a great location because there is paradise falls, looking glass and other falls/hikes super driving distance. The creek was peaceful. Also very clean brand new bathrooms, heater and warm water shower right on site! It was a perfect private spot great for couples. The host was very kind, checked in on us and made sure we were good. My advice is to bring a lot of firewood and keep it safe 🪵 because it rained once and made every wet. The string lights were super cute and not too bright. Also the drive there is beautiful. There’s a small marketplace/gas station super close by down the road too. Thank you so much Georgianna!

Weekend Trip to Creekside Park - Full Hookup/ Wifi!

We loved our stay at Creekside #2 in our travel trailer. What a lovely place to unwind and spend some time, with just a short drive to all the attractions in Asheville. The full hook-ups along with picnic table and level gravel parking area made everything effortless for our stay. The exta ammenities of wifi, a dedicated dog park area, and a scenic nature trail along the creek were also most appreciated. Communication with David was very easy, as were his directions. The experience was a 10 out of 10. We look forward to our next stay at this well-maintained retreat!

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker. If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away. Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp. Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool. Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville. We love taking our kids there. We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. If you are looking for peace and tranquility in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this privately owned, primitive campground is a great place for your tent! Nestled in Medford Mountain at about 1200 ft., each creek-side slip has a magnificent view of the 1532 ft. mountaintop. Whether surrounded by spring blossoms or fall foliage, animal and leaf lovers often see turkeys at dawn and deer at dusk. Foxes and bobcats have also been spotted on occasion. It is important to note that bear and coyote roam freely on the adjacent mountaintop, although are rarely seen or heard. Proper wilderness precautions must always be taken while camping. Aside from the flora and fauna, one of the biggest attractions is the star-filled sky. On a clear night, it is imperative to take a break from your private campfire to appreciate the Milky Way. You may also enjoy the meteor showers in August and other celestial events. Not to be outdone, the day sky does not disappoint. If a pop-up shower passes through, a double rainbow is often left in its wake. In the surrounding area, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy during the day. In a half hour or less, you may go horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Public access to Lake Lure is less than 15 mi. away, but access to a lakeside road with amazing views is only a couple of minutes away. In addition, there is a little-known waterfall about 8 minutes up the street. If spending the day on site, be sure to walk the trail on the opposite side of the creek and hike up the hill for a different view. In addition, badminton, volleyball, ladder ball, cornhole, Yardzee, croquet, bocce, frisbees, footballs, board games and books are available for free rental. Plus, children may enjoy gem mining in the creek (for an additional fee). Of course, everyone can play Slapsquatch on the grounds for free. *Last minute decision? No worries! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. It’s truly a peaceful site. Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We are located in a rural setting in the foothills on the edge of the South Mountains Range, a branch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you for checking out our place! We are Jud and Amanda Wortman. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. We know it’s a bit different; that’s what we like about it. We think our place stands out and, after visiting Tellurian, we think you’ll agree it does too. Overview

Between Pisgah National Forest and Nantahala National Forest and just south of Asheville, Hendersonville is a small town set among the dramatic Blue Ridge Mountains. The pedestrian-centered downtown explores the arts, while nearby Jones Gap State Park, Chimney Rock State Park, and Mount Mitchell State Park offer ample hiking trails, bike paths, and rock climbing adventures. This “City of 4 Seasons” offers year-round attractions, but fall is extra fun with local farms opening for apple picking, hayrides, and corn mazes. From farmsteads to family campgrounds, tent campsites, RV sites, and glamping lodging are all close at hand.

Jones Gap State Park

Just past the border into South Carolina is Jones Gap State Park, a massive 13,000 acre reserve featuring two majestic waterfalls, over 60 miles of hiking trails, and the impressive Middle Saluda River. Fish for brown and rainbow trout from a riverside campsite, or birdwatch for native and migratory species. Many campsites don’t allow campfires, so bring alternative heating and cooking sources. Hipcampers planning to explore Jones Gap should be sure to make a day-use reservation ahead of time.

Chimney Rock State Park

Northeast of Hendersonville, Chimney Rock State Park is named after its towering rock spire that reaches more than 300 feet—climb the tower itself or take an elevator. The park also has hiking trails to Hickory Nut Falls, as well as more rugged routes to nearby Eagle Rock and Rumbling Bald. This park is also a popular destination for bouldering, with many rock faces in the area ripe for climbing. Nearby glamping spots and RV campgrounds are available.

Mount Mitchell State Park

Mount Mitchell is the highest point east of the Mississippi River, and the viewpoint from the summit’s observation deck is well worth the strenuous hike to reach it. Mount Mitchell State Park also includes moderate and difficult trails for exploring the nearby Pisgah National Forest and its waterfalls, mountains, and rivers. When to go

Hendersonville has the most to offer in hot summer months, with July temperatures reaching average highs of 85°F. Clear summer skies make for amazing views from the mountain peaks, however, this also means bigger crowds in more popular parks. Choosing some of the larger state parks in the area can be a good way to enjoy a more peaceful experience. Hendersonville winters are fairly cold (average January lows of 25°F), and some trails, campsites, and attractions close for the season, though some trails are open in wintertime for those with the right equipment.
