Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. We started with Hipcamp 6 years ago and enjoy meeting new people. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I retired May 2024 from being a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

At canter lakes farm you can explore over 10 acres of water without ever leaving our property, and hike almost 3 miles of manicured trails here! If you’re an early riser you can witness the magnificent steam rolling in over the lakes, creek and cypress swamp while you sip your coffee at sunrise. Bring your paddle boards and cruise, or warm up with sunny yoga on your private dock. Kayak or John boats can explore the river bends from our property, or even make it out to the big wide cape fear.
We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards.
Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining.
Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars.
Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture.
Tent camping or dry rv camping only at this time. Hot Shower, sink and full size toilet are provided in the bath house. No feeding of the horses allowed, or entering fencing. campers are welcome to visit or partake in farm experience with permission.
If you’re looking for a yummy bite to eat we recommend chilitos, about 10 minutes away, for some authentic Mexican food!

I took my daughter, my dog and ferret to Sean’s camp site for the weekend. We had a great time there! It’s quiet (if you don’t mind the sounds of frogs through the night). 🤭 It was very private and secluded. Very much recommend bringing a table for prepping food, and firewood to keep the fire going. Mr. Sean has wood on the property but if it rains, it will be too wet to burn. Aside from that, no complaints. Sean was very communicative. The view from our tent was beautiful! If you like primitive camping with plenty of privacy, this site is nice!

Camping here was paradise!! It was hot, but we didn’t even care! We spent a lot of time walking the shallows and kayaking. Fishing was amazing, there were loads of huge bowfin that were a blast to fight! The bathrooms were amazingly well kept and smelled better than any other I’ve ever been in. I especially loved the Cypress Trees! We will definitely be back!

My daughter and I were lucky enough to take a last minute overnighter to this beautiful place. The sites are clean, level and nicely spaced between with a clean portajohn a short walk away. These are primitive sites with no elec or water ( side note, when coming in town we had forgot water but didnt sweat it as Google informed us there are 2 stores within a mile of campground... but they are definitely closed. We had to backtrack several miles to Kelly and unfortunately missed meeting our host, so fyi, get your goods before you get close! ) with each having its own firepit and trashcan. Each site is on the river and the beauty is just everywhere, wildlife ( and bugs, bring that spray! ) and nature in abundance. It's truly the kind of place that you just sit back, unplug and appreciate.

I loved tent camping at black river creek Lisa was the best host we camped at emerald aisle and it was beautiful but the mosquitoes were not however where we camped was quiet beautiful seen and heard plenty of wildlife my son our dog loved it and NO MOSQUITOES we was so happy while we stayed and when we left.

Very quite clean and private spot. Zach was available for any need and very responsive. This spot is very secluded. If I’m ever back in the area I will definitely stay again!

Weekend Trip to The Homestead At Little Creek
The site is well furnished (tents, tables, chairs and fire pit) and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The string lights add a great ambience after dark (make sure to ask for them to be plugged in). The only downside is the roosters who start crowing as early as 3:00 AM and may awaken light sleepers.

Weekend Trip to The Homestead At Little Creek
Great space, lovely property, wonderful hosts. We had a group of 10 for overnight camping and we had room to spare. We definitely plan to come back!
The big tent is BIG and could have probably accommodated all 10 of us. But we chose to spread out a bit so the kids could have their own little tent sleepovers.
There were pretty lights, comfortable easy bathroom access, chairs for sitting around the fire, a gate to keep kids in, and the star attraction was visits from the dog!
We also enjoyed watching the cows come up to fence with the baby calves. We spent hours down by the creek.

Contessa and Tyler are the best. This is a diamond in the rough. Wife took a swim. Great!! Lost track of how many times we have been here. Even though they only have electric and water Tyler will get you taken care of before you get on the road and get you pumped out. You don’t even have to go to a pump station. Atmosphereis completely relaxed. Come for a spell. You won’t regret

We had an amazing stay on JCO Campground. Contessa personally escorted us to our campsite and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The site itself was private, peaceful and had incredible sunset views. There was plenty of wildlife to observe and explore, which made the experience even more special.
Contessa was also incredibly accommodating when our trip took an unexpected turn with an impromptu kitten rescue! Her kindness and flexibility really stood out and made a memorable experience even better.
This is definitely a place I plan to return to again and again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet camping getaway.

We loved camping at Sunset Cove 4! The lake view was gorgeous, it was quiet and private, the portapotty was super clean and Contessa is very helpful and kind. Tail the cat is also an absolute sweetheart who loves to be petted.

We loved our stay! The owners were so kind from the time we checked in and very helpful. Roughly 60 acres to roam and explore with all the animals. They even have a little store on site where they sell fresh meats among other essentials. We really loved it and will definitely return!!
